Is it true that Adaware is no longer supporting Win98se? What security
programs are people now using on their Win98se boxes? Thanks.

All you need is to do a little reading, set up your internet
correctly so you are safe, and never do stupid things online.
The "Britney Spears sucks a big black one" files are NOT what
they claim to be. EVER.

Enable extensions for ALL files. Don't double click on things
you don't know.

Install a decent free AV program and run it to scan /what you
have downloaded/. I STILL use the DOS version of f-prot and I
see no reason whatsoever to change. I have NEVER gotten a virus
let alone a trojan in 15 years. It is NOT necessary to have an
AV program run all the time unless you are one of the people who
double click on the aforementioned "Britney" files or install
programs WHILE ONLINE.

Get Spybot Search & Destroy. I use 95B and ver 1.3 (which uses
the EXACT same signature files as the latest version) works fine
on it. Any version will work on 98SE AFAIK.

In this room, if a 32-bit program does not run on 95B or
requires MS Installer or Net framework, it is promptly trashed
and a better alternative found, usually in less than 5 minutes.

It is a /happy/ room - computing-wise, anyway. Life is hell, but
that's another subject.

Savagery of the relationships between people. Here, everyone is
on the make, all of them doing their damndest to take someone
else by surprise, to relieve this man of his property, to enjoy
that girl's flesh. There is no gentleness, there are only
pleasures. Eyes which already devour the easy prey offered them,
eyes which seek out the chink in the armour, the weak point, the
little patch of pale skin into which the nails can sink and
bring blood spurting out. Spying eyes, fierce eyes, sharp eyes
which loathe and wound. A look which passes summary judgment, a
knowing look, one which wants, not to understand, but to keep at
a distance, to consume at a distance. A kind of tentacle, eye-
sucker clamped to the intellect's stomach. The world is not
pure. The world is free, roamed by wild animals, inhabited by
greedy, hate-filled monsters. Loneliness, indifference: hatred.

Though then new version Adaware 2007 may not work with win98
the old version AdawareSE can still be updated but it will have to be done
manually.
they carry the new definitions on their website
and they just need to be unzipped into your Adaware folder

Ok, I will try unzipping the AdAware updates manually. I did install
SpywareBlaster 4.0 but then I removed it because it seemed useless. I
use the mvps.org hosts file.

How do you do this? I downloaded and unzipped core.aawdef but AdAware
did not see it. I then renamed it defs.ref and AdAware rejected it.
