I have to get a large file to Thailand asap,
1.8Gb
Is there a program that can zip and break apart
the file to make the parts easier to email?
say 50Mb or 100 Mb each?

WinZip v. 11 (and probably earlier) can split Zip files, too. Just search
for "split files" in Help.

In short, you make a ZIP file from your file, then split it into pieces to
email.

In that you're using Outlook Express anyway, it will split files into
manageable sizes (although 1.8 GB is rather whopping for email,
I'd recommend something like this:

Go to Tools>Accounts>Mail>Properties>Advanced>Sending>
Break apart messages larger than ...

Both Winzip and WinRAR can break up a large archive into smaller
chunks.

In Winzip, go to Actions > Split.

WinRAR calls them multipart archives.

Thank you all gentlemen!
I am a little relieved, but havn't tried any as yet.
I have RAR so will go that route.

Seems I have been a bit of a donkey,
I was in the middle of a move to a new computer
and was minus a burner, so I threw the data on a cheap thumb
drive, and mailed it to Thailand.
It took 8 days, then my colleague could not open it.

We either ballsed up the password, or the data got zapped
by the anti terrorism scanners. Is that plausible?
