An ALTERNATIVE to Notepad?

Hallo

I need an alternative to Notepad (of Windows 98)

I need only two features more:

-replace funcion
-no 64 Kb limit
(free)

Hopefully:
- same little Kb size
- same Notepad layout and speedness
- Italian language

As you see.. the Windows XP "Notepad" (!)
but it doesn't run on Win98 (Comdlg.dll problem)

Have you a precise piece of software to suggest to me?
