It seems that e-mail attachments are copied, say by MS Outlook 2007 or IE7 to
a temporary folder prior to being opened for viewing.

The files, however, cannot be accessed, after they have been copied; the
following error is displayed:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have
the appropriate permissions to access the item.

The caption reads the following path:
c:\documents and settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE...\...\nameoffile.pdf

The Temporary Internet Files does not exist within the path c:\documents and
settings\user\Local Settings\.

I tried clearing the temporary internet files (from IE) and creating the
Temporary Internet Files within the c:\documents and settings\user\Local
Settings\ path to hack around this, but the error is still unresolved.

Any ideas, please?

Email attachments can be saved to a folder of your choice by right clicking
the attachment and choosing "save"..........a path should display which you
can change.

Apologies, I misled you by stating "e-mail attachments". They are actually
links to files say http://something.com/bla bla/this.pdf.

The problem is that they cannot be opened, somehow.
