The system has to be truly idle, for it to "time out" and go to
sleep/hibernate. Perhaps bring up Task Manager, and watch the
performance tab to see what is is happening with the CPU. If you see
activity switch to processes, and sort on CPU and see what pops to the
top to identify the problem software.
