It happened on two different microsoft wireless mouse: natural wireless
laser mouse 6000, and a smaller one I forgot the name.

Some applications "blinks" (I think it erases its content and repaints it).
E.g. outlook express, and an old backgammon game called jellyfish.

I suspect it is caused by intellipoint 6.2, since that is the only software
I added to my computer. Has anyone else seen the problem? What is the
solution?

After some more experiments, I found a pattern:

Many apps (all??) that just gain focus would blink (noticeably repaints
itself) once within 1 to 4 seconds. Text based apps may not exhibits the
symtom, probably because text repaint is much faster. MS word initially
doesn't have this symtom, but after I draw some circles and rectangles in
the doc, then I can see the symtoms.

Here's one way that should show the symtom even on a fast computer. Run ms
publisher 2003, and insert a large photo (e.g. 10 megapixel). Then on top of
the photo, draw a filled circle. Lose the focus, and then refocus on
publisher again. You should be able to see the picture and the circle
repaint within 5 seconds. Sometimes they repaint themselves twice.

MS-publisher is chosen because it repaints photos slowly. If you have other
slow-repainting app, they would work too.

If I kill the ipoint.exe process, then the symtom disappear and the mouse
still works.

It is known tha some Intellipoint version can cause the flickering and
some times updating video card drivers can help.

Turns out this is a 2-year old problem. Surprisingly it is not fixed.
