no icons on desktop screen after restarting

Hello,

I tried to upgarde to latest Antivirus (free upgrade from internet )
on my Dell inspirion 1300 machine and after installing system
automatically restarted itself.

now after restarting a blank desktop background screen appears without
any icons on desktop.

I tried doing system restore also chkdsk, still problem persists.


please help.

Only the Icons? Taskbar and Start there ?

Usually the icons will reappear after a reboot, if not did you run chkdsk /p
and chkdsk /r . This usually works for me to move information to good sectors.
