I have a problem with my HP nx9000, mouse and keyboard are not working correct.
Mouse pointer stops (get stuck) for 0,5-1 sec on the screen during normal
movements, then go on. It comes every 5-6 seconds continuously.
Also keyboard - some "blank" typing, it miss some symbols, with no reaction.
It seems like some operation is always on, hard drive i/o operation
indications every 5-6 secs.
"Filemon" software shows permanent "query information" to "netshellicon"
non-existing folder/file every 10-15 seconds.
Help me!!!!
XP SP2 installed, HP all upated drivers installed, "Synaptics" drivers also
I have final.
Only thing is no ok - battery is dead, I'm working from net. But all battery
controlling issued in "devices" I turned off.
On W2k this problem I don't remember.
Thank you!

I had a similar fault on a friend's Acer laptop - no response from Synaptic
keypad (USB mouse worked OK) and keyboard only recognised if key depressed
for more than 5 seconds. There was also no character repeat. I eventually
found that the fault only occurred when running on the mains with a fully
charged battery attached. It was OK if battery had low charge or was
removed altogether. I also found that the battery's capacity was very low
and gave false readings to the battery monitor. To cut a very long story
short, I bought a new battery and everything is now perfect.

Hope this helps.

Mick
