Hi,
Ive XP Pro SP2 on my computer. On Monday morning (16th June 08) I accidently
deleted some update folders in the C:/Windows/ directory. So when I try to do
some internet updates, it cannot because these folders were deleted.
Realizing my mistake, I used the XP installation CD to repair windows that
same day but those folders are still missing.
Then I realised that the easiest way I could have done was to restore using
windows restore utility to a restore point before the mentioned date which I
did the deletion of the folders.
My problem now is I try to restore to an earlier restore point but earlier
dates are greyed out. Only Tuesday (17th June 08) & later dates till now are
enabled & that i guess was because of the repair I did.
Is there a way to re-enabled the restore point dates before I did the repair
so I can restore from one of those dates in which the deleted folders were
still there???
Pls advice if there is a way.

Thanks
Connie

Connie, try going to C:\Windows\System32\Catroot2 folder. Rename the
folder and Restart the computer.

Hi Barry,
I've tried renaming that folder then restart but nothing happened. What does
that suppose to do anyway???
I also see if i could restore to back to a previous date than the one i did
my restore but the problem is still there...the dates are greyed out.

What else can I do??

Cheers,
connie
