While checking the integrity of my System Devices I noticed that two items
were reported as problem devices. Both are under the category of "Other
Devices". These are (1) Other PCI Bridge Devices and (2) SM Bus Controller.
In both cases the properties button shows that drivers are not installed.
When I try to update drivers and allow an automatic internet search I come
up with the result that the drivers cannot be installed automatically. My
questions are
(1) What are these devices?
(2) Are they necessary for the proper functioning of my PC? I have not so
far noticed any problems. However, I presume that these devices must serve
some purpose otherwise Windows will not report them as Problem Devices under
Hardware Components in System Information.
(3) Where can I get the drivers for these specific devices?
My PC is an X86 based PC and I am running Windows XP-Pro with SP3. My thanks
in advance for any help, explanation or further information from readers.

These are usually part of the motherboard chipset drivers. Dod you
install a chipset driver for the 'controlling" chipset of your
motherboard?
