New I/o Magic cd rw 52x32x52

Device mgr recognizes it as sony cd-rw crx 230ee. Cannot copy files to cd.
tends to hang up computer. uninstalled Nero. Had sme problem with original
,assumed drive bad and replaced it with I/O magic. Still cannot copy to disk
where is problem?
-- Dell 8300 with Dvd Drive which works fine.

CD drives are nowadays cheap and easily replaced.
Because they are delicate as well as cheap we should
expect them to fail sooner or later and require replacement.
In your place I would spring for a new CD RW drive and
instal it. If unconfident with a screwdriver I would take
the PC box to a genuine PC repair shop, have them instal
a new CD RW drive, and test it in the store before paying.
