Yesterday after doing an uninstall of iTunes browser I lost my HP
wireless keyboard / mouse.

I can use the PC if I plug in a cabled keyboard / mouse, but the
wireless kb / mouse do not work.

When I reboot and then plug in the USB receiver (for the kb / mouse)
the Found New Hardware Wizard pops up. If I tell it to install it
doesn't find a driver and fails.

I don't know where to tell it to find a driver, and I don't have an
install CD for it. I've swapped it to other USB ports, and have used
other items in the USB port.

Device Manager says it is not configured properly and has the option
of selecting to install a driver. All other references to USB in
Device Manager are functioning properly.

There is not a driver on the HP web site, and HP chat was not helpful;
they were grasping at straws toward the end. The did reference
chipset files, but poorly.

Restore to earlier dates does not help.

I've not been able to locate any generic drivers.

It seemed that the iTunes browser install was tangled up with the
.NetFrame install some how. The uninstall process seemed to say it
was uninstalling two versions of .NetFrame.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did this keyboard /mouse combo come pre-installed? If your
answer is yes, then maybe you must install the bloody OS.

On my last M$ install, I could find the drivers in a sub-folder
called "system" under "C".

To think that HP people force windows OS onto their PAYING
customers their support apparently is less then perfect. I
for one will stay away from HP products.

If you can get to the HP recovery tools on your hidden partition and the
mouse/keyboard came pre-configured on your machine, you may be able to
find the necessary drivers. You might try HP chat again -- some of the
HP techs are better than others...

I had the HP wireless keyboard/mouse on my HP Pavilion but I wound up
replacing it with a Microsoft wireless combination. The HP keyboard
didn't have a good "feel" to it when typing and the mouse went through
batteries at the rate of two per month. My MS wireless mouse runs six
months before the batteries need replacement. This was a Staples sale
for $25 after rebate, but that was a year ago.

Good luck!

CLOSED: the issue turned out to me failed NET Framework (2 and 3)
Service Pack 1 installs. When they failed drivers for the Human
Interface Device could not be found.

I think the SP1 installs got wrapped up with a install of Apples
browser and then choked. I uninstalled iTunes, performed the SP1
installs and they took. Reinstalled iTunes and the wireless kb /
mouse now work regularly.

Thanks!
