For some reason my digital camera - a simple cannon one, won't work with
Microsoft scanner and Camera wizard.

It seems to take forever to do anything. - just says it's reading and
getting picture information... it can do thsi for 10 minutes, even if there
is only just the one photograph on the camera card!!!

?

Any ideas?

Dan, try diconnecting all your USB devices and then rt click
MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>USB Controllers. Rt
click on each one and choose Uninstall. Restart and let Xp reinstall them.
Then try the
Camera.

My acquaintances advise forgetting about connecting digital cameras to
the computer. Remove the memory card from the camera and plug the memory
card into a memory card reader. Those readers are built into some
computers and printers, but are available as an inexpensive module that
connects to the computer's USB port. The readers function like an
external hard drive and you can drag and drop pictures to your internal
hard drive(s) with Windows Explorer.

Several cameras do are not directly compatible to USB "mass storage"
driver. Check with the manufacturer and get any possible drivers or
softwares.

Also, as perviously stated, if you can not get drivers or the cameera
to work, consider getting a digital media reader, for your camera's
media card type.

I did this via the Imaging Devices within the device manager, but didn't go
it via usb controllers, worth a try...

Since I completely reset the camera (did a factory restore) Windows AutoPlay
is now appearing, however is empty - any other camera I enter works perfect
first time!

Thank you for your help. I will provide some feedback asap
