Decoders are used to, well, decode the audio and video. AVI's are
notorious for getting created with every more inventive decoders and
some players don't play them in Windows. I find an odd ball now and
then. At least that's my experience. Still, try more than one DVD to
make sure its not a fluke. My only other input is you missed something
on the reload. Or haven't done all.

You need a DVD player such as Cyberlink's PowerDVD or WinDVD, etc. Look
through the CDs that came with your computer to see if you have something
like that which you forgot to install.

You need a correct codec (coder-decoder). Most DVD players
include one or more codecs. One of the better public domain
media players, such as VLC (current version is 8.6e-win32.exe)
includes 15 or 16 codecs and can play any audio or video file
except the HD stuff (MP4 / Divx).

Try: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

I love VLC. Ever since I found it 6 months ago, its solved all my
problems. It even plays the VOB files.
