Can't change file association for DOS batch files

I am running Windows XP Home.

The other day I went into the file associations page of Explorer /
Tools and changed the file association setting for editing batch files
from the default Notepad to my favored editor EditPad Pro.

Today, when I tried to run a bach file, instead of it running, it
opened in EditPad Pro. I thought that it would be easy to change the
setting for running such a file, but when I went into the file
association page, MS Dos batch files were nowhere to be found.

How can I fix this?

Try run,type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow Install xp cd,exit the info page.
Once its thru,remove cd,type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:EXIT Re-
start pc.

Dear Ramesh,

Thank you so much. The registry patch at the dougknox site worked
like a charm.

I have one follow-up question. I would still like to associate my
preferred text editor for editing batch files (where the context menu
that appears when right clicking a batch filename in the Explorer has
its "edit" choice linked to something other than Notepad).

Is there a way to do that without once again causing a double click of
the filename to merely open the text editor to that file?
