A new device I bought has a driver that won't work with SP1. Can I
uninstall SP1 without screwing up SP2 or the other programs I have loaded
since installing SP1? Thanks.

No. SP1 is part of SP2. Since we are now at SP3 and SP1 was approximately 6
years ago, you need to contact the makers of the Mystery Device and get an
updated driver. Or return the Mystery Device and purchase something that
will meet your needs and work with the operating system as it is today.
