How to reinstall window me fron xp home edition

Hi there, I have inspiron 5000e laptop with xp home edition, It came with
window M.E. but i had to erase it because i need more disc space. Now there
is no trace of it at all on my computer. Now i want to reinstall window me
but the computer does not recognize the cd. What i can do to reinstall it?

Eric, if you have a floppy drive you can download a WinME bootdisk. Get
one with Format and Fdisk on it.
www.bootdisk.com When it boots to the A:\ type: fdisk /mbr
That will reestablish a Win9x mbr.

Hello

you have written that your computer is not recognising the disks. That means
the computer BIOS is not recognised to boot from the windows Me disk. You
have to enter the BIOS setup and then make the first boot device as your Cd
drive.

Also now you are trying to degrade from windows XP home edition to Windows
Me and this is not possible. The best option is first take the back up of all
the data from the computer and first install the Windows Me and then you can
install the Windows XP home edition.
