I have a Dell Laptop with Windows XP-PRO installed. Every so often, the mouse
seems to have a mind of its own and moves uncontrollable up and down and
across the screen. This will last for about 1-2 minutes at a time and then
goes back to normal. This happens whether I using the touch pad mouse on the
laptop or if I connect an external mouse. I don't know what to do about this
and if anyone has any suggestions, i'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks in
advance.

Have you tried re-installing your mouse driver?

I thought about it but am not sure I know exactly how to do that. I assume
that I have to remove the driver and then reinstall the same one? can you
provide some simple directions?

I don't know your system! However, go to control
panel---system---hardware---device manager--double click mice and see if you
can check it there. If you have a new mouse (replaced it with a wireless)
you would have a CD with it which contains the driver.
