In the C:\Windows\temp folder there are some 400 files named zlt plus
a number with the TMP extention. Most seem to be about one year old,
but a few are newer. The size is listed as 1 kb.

I opened some with Notepad, but nothing displays.

Can I safely delete these files, assuming that they will allow me to
delete them.

I have XP home edition on a Compaq laptop.

Thanks

Stuff in the Temp or Tmp folders can be deleted with no problems.

These are Zone Alarm temp files, you can delete them.
Only the most recent (currently in use by ZA) can not be deleted.

Has ZoneAlarm been installed on this computer? A quick Google search seems to
indicate that those files are created by ZoneAlarm.

http://www.google.com/search?q=zlt.tmp&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

I'd say that you can delete all of those files. If you're curious, you might
want to post your question to the ZoneAlarm forum.

Good luck

Thanks for the input guys. I tried to delete them and all
except two were deleted. The message said that the two were
being used.

I use Unlocker program to unlock and delete temp files
in use by ZoneAlarm Security Suite or any other program
and for any other files can't otherwise delete.

It's been my experience that a situation like this (unable to remove a
running program) can be overcome by going into SAFE mode, which stops just
about every extraneous program on your computer.

My versions of ZA have only one of them open. Having two open seems a bit
odd.
