recently performed a non-destructive recovery on my Win XP computer. Now on
startup, I get the following error message:

DevDtct2.exe - Unable to locate component

This application has failed to start because OdiAPI.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's probably caused by Olympus software:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_d.htm Uninstall
this program or change the options to have it start when the computer
starts, or remove DevDtct2.exe from the startup location with the
msconfig tool.

http://searchtasks.answersthatwork.com/tasklist.php?File=DevDtct2

"Device Detector 2. System Tray application which gets installed by the
Olympus DSS Player Pro (Digital Speech Standard) voice playback software."

So the error message is coming from this third-party software you installed.
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
