I think drive compression is a foolhardy thing to use. Without drive
compression, if you have a problem on a single spot on the drive, you will
probably lose a single file. With drive compression, essentially everything
is in a single file, so even a small problem means the loss of everything.
Also note that if these files are important to you, and you don't have a
backup of them, you are playing with fire.
