Yesterday, my eMachine Windows XP was working fine until I turned it off.
This morning, when I rebooted, it suddenly turned blue screen with a
message: "Check disc was scheduled..." It run all 5 steps and then turned
black screen with a cryptic message: "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check
cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent". Checked the cables, all were OK.
Rebooted and Windows was loaded normally.
May someone please tell me what caused this chkdisc session? What was wrong?
How to avoid it in the future?
Your suggestions will be appreciated.

To add an insult to the injury - every time I reboot, a blue screen with the
Chkdisc appears. I have to hit any key within 10 sec to cancel check disc
and go to Windows... What do I do now?

I suggest you backup all your important data. The problem could be related
to hard drive problems but might also be cable, controller or some other
issue. Wade through the help here

Xandros,
thanks for your suggestion. I checked the site. As I found, the discussion
was about the problems with cards, wires, etc. However, my problem was with
the chkdsk running... I guess I solved it by going to My Computer >Local
Disc >Properties >Tools >Error Checking and scheduling a check disk at
reboot and error auto fixing. After chkdsk fixed one cluster everything runs
smoothly...
Regards,
Ilya
