Having a problem with running programs/opening files. Basically, i can't do
either. I know it's not the mouse button as this works on the Start Menu.
I've checked all the external connections as well. Any ideas? Thank you.

I'm sorry but this isn't enough information to give you focused help. Please
see these links for what details you need to include in your next post:

In the meantime:

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

We need at least one example. More often than not, "running a program" =
"opening a file," i.e. we cannot interpret your "either." Which apps fail
to start and how: e.g. if you click on a BMP file, this is supposed to
load MSPAINT. But another route to the same function is to start
MSPAINT from the / Start button and then / File / Open to load
the BMP file. Malconfiguration might mean one route succeeds and the other
fails: but we need to know what happens with you.
