If no text is present, I can skip processing in the story. In particular (and where the below routine seems to fall apart), I want to see if a header contains text. The below works fine if there is header text in Section 1 of the document, but if there is no header text in sections 1 and 2, but there is header text section 3, the routine won't find it. (The MakeHFValid routine is used, although not reprinted, to overcome the problem when a story is blank.     - Delete character and prior letter Hello all. I have one of those keylogger programs that records emails being sent. The problem is it records every keystroke, backspace being a keystroke. A backspace is recorded as [backspace]. So I took the file and did an edit/replace to remove backspace], leaving the front [. So conceptually, I was hoping for something that would start at the beginning, find each [ and delete it AND the letter immediately prior to that. So basically it would delete the backspace keystroke, and remove the character deleted by the backspace keystroke. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!! I would like to be able to run a routine that would display the "insertpicture" dialog, and size the user's selection and insert it at a specific place in the document. It's the first time that I work with macros and I managed to get the list of recorded macros in the word taskbar.     - Extending Word Model Object I'm writing quite a complex application in Word. I've a lot of code that I would like to keep clear. I thougth several time of using custom classes, but I don't know if I can achieve what I have in mind. For instance in a Word Document based on MyTemplate.dot I have a Table "ActiveDocument.Tables(1)" and each Row in the table is not just a row but has a lot of special data and code for manipulate it (for instance in the first cell of each row there is some hidden text to identify the row, etc.). I would like to extend the standard Word Model Object and create my own objects wrapping the existing one in Word. For instance, having a new table or new row object that acts as the standard one + same new properties and methods. If I'll create a new object MyRow, how I can tell Word to use MyRow in the normal Table object instead of the normal Row? Do you have any suggestions?     - I don't like the new "Open" menu that was updated in Word. I have recently received a number of updates, one of which has affect my "open" menu screen in Word. There is no longer the selection of choices of ways to handle the folders and documents in Word on the left sidebar of the menu. I found the old menu page very helpful, the new menu page is a hindrance. I would appreciate it if the old setup of the "Open" menu page could be restored. In addition, it would be very nice if, when you log off the computer and are told there are updates waiting, that a list of updates and a brief description of each be made available to the user first, with the option to accept or decline, before the update is installed. If this had been the case, I may not have the problem that I am currently presenting here. Automatically installing these updates, as the system currently does, leaves me frustrated with unknown changes nearly every time I log back onto my computer - this is not much appreciated. I really like the product in general, but I would like to be the one to control what I use and how I use it.     - Tab Key on User Forms Word 2004 on Mac OS 10.4.4 is not allowing me to create dialog boxes in such a way that the user can use the Tab key to move from one text box to the other. I have done this many times in Windows and earlier versions of Word for Macintosh. Furthermore, when I set a textbox as tabstop=0, the expected behavior of having the focus on that textbox when the dialog box displays does not work. The user has to first click in the textbox before it will accept typing. I have been over this dozens of time to ensure that tabStop=true and the textboxes have TabIndex vlaues that are consecutive, beginning with zero. What happens when running the dialog box is that: - The user must first click a textbox to enter text - Pressing the Tab key selects the text entered in the textbox, rather than advancing focus to the textbox with the next higher TabIndex number, as is expected. - Continuing to press the Tab key does nothing. The selected text simply remain selected.     - Envelope Template (Delivery Address Field, Address Book) I am a Mac user, and have some questions on the Word Envelope template from Project Gallery. Is there a way to have one line bolded on the delivery Address (Ex. company name) each time I insert a different contact information from the adress book? I would also like to know if I could insert a title, and a job title on a document using the address book. Currently, the Address book allows me to insert name, company name, and the address on a page. I am not sure it has do with my setting.     - Converting Word to html with track changes Any suggestions on how we can get a clean copy of an .html file displaying track changes through Word? I know, I know. Converting Word to web is not the ideal solution, but let me explain the problem. We have some policies that need to go on the intranet site and we would like to display the 'Track Changes', so that the 'ees can see where the changes were made, rather than the legal-eze hoj-poj that usually goes something like: 'Adendum: Paragraph 1 to be altered, blah blah blah.' Aside from manually adding strike-throughs, underlines, font color changes and highlighting text, the best way to do this is through 'Track Changes'. It appears that the 'Track Changes' will convert into html and looks great, but when we try to bring it up in the browser window, there are highlights where there should be underlines, bold text appears where it shouldn't, and some of everything looks as it should while other parts look like we stuffed it in the blender.     - How do I store an autotext entry without storing the formatting? I want to store the DateSave field as an autotext entry. (Why? I can drag it from there onto a custom toolbar - It's the only way I can find to get it there!) The problem is, when I insert the DateSave field into a document then make a new autotext entry from it, when I insert it into a different document, it appears in the font used in the source document. This does not happen with the fields that come standard in the autotext list (such as Filename) - those entries adopt the destination format.     - Delete section breaks without using replace I have a merged document in a table format. So, once merged, there is a section break in between between each row of the table. There are over 500 records being merged, so it is not possible to create a table with all possible <next record> fields. For some reason, using the replace feature will not touch the section breaks. If I search for each one, and then use selection.delete, that works fine. However, this process is excrutiatingly slow in large documents. Does anyone know of a way to programmically iterate each section break as an object?     - How to trap ENTER key in WORD table I have a protected document with form fields and tables in WORD 2002. When a users hits the ENTER key inside a table, WORD simply adds a row's worth of space to the cell. (Not sure why this happens when the table is protected.) I'd like to change this behavior so that the ENTER key simply moves the cursor to the next cell. I've seen examples of trapping the TAB key and substituting the NextCell command for that. I suppose I can do that with the ENTER key; but the main problem may be that I only want to alter this behavior while inside the table, not within other sections of the form. So, my questions are: a. Can I substitute NextCell for the ENTER key? b. Can I limit that behavior to the table, and let the ENTER key do its own thing when outside the table? c. Is there a way to tell inside my code whether the cursor is current inside the table, if the table is in its own section?     - Strategy for Testing a Series of Words Office 2003, Windows XP I'm working on a macro that my users can use to select a headline that is all uppercase, and convert it to a caps/lowercase headline. Title case gets me part of the way there, but some words, like "and" and "for" and "to," etc., need to be lowercase. I have some code that seems workable -- at least it works with *one* word, but I want to have it check a list of common words (It can never be perfect, but it can be pretty helpful, eliminated a lot of manual editing). Seems like making a long list of if statements would be clumsy. So I'm looking for a way to test a list of words, and ideally, a way to make the list fairly easy to update. I can use the LCASE or UCASE functions to get accurate tests -- be sure the state of capitalization of the document won't goof the comparisons. So here's the general approach I'm taking. It's the little black slider on the corner of the floppy. But DO NOT change
it. Copy your files to your hard disk and work on them there. Opening Word
documents on a floppy corrupts the files and often wrecks the floppy also.
