    - Resources to support Word in multiple languages? I have a Word template with added menus, toolbars, forms, etc. Now I am supporting languages other than English. The problems come when I need to refer to Word menu items in my user interface or documentation. For example, I might need to tell users to go to: Menu: Help > SpecialTemplate Help or Menu: Insert > SpecialTemplate Symbols... Needed: "Help" or "Insert" in other languages (Spanish, French, German, etc.). Where can I find a reference that shows the menus and dialog boxes for Word in different languages? Are there other resources available for those of us who need to support Word in multiple languages?     - Search not working as wanted G'day there One & All, I'm currently working on my first Word VB project (well, the first one I've not abandoned and forgotten about) and I've obviously got something wrong. I have some experience with VB for Excel, so most of the concepts ring a bell or two, but the Word object model escapes me and I'm still trying to get my head around it. I have 3 years worth of occurrence logs that I need to search for a specific string. The logs consist of a single table with some consistent entries. Unfortunately this string appears in all logs in one of those entries which I describe as a "heading area". I need to find it in the "narrative" section, not one of the heading areas. The logs are organised in Year Folders, with Month folders inside. The log names are the date for each daily log. I'm trying to perform the following tasks: 1. Use dialog to obtain enclosing folder for all documents - done. 2. Iterate through all subfolders to find log documents - done. 3. Search through each log in turn and search for one of the consistant headings, then commence searching from the next line down for the target word. If found, then store filename in base docuement and ... 4. Stop at end of document, and got to next one - done. Courtesy of the Word MVP pages, and this group's archives, I think I've got 1, 2 & 4 working OK. However 3 is giving me a few problems. I'm getting false hits, and missing occurrences of the target. Ergo, I've got something out of whack. I hope that someone here may be able to point me in the right direction.     - Can't open certain help file pages Office 2003 In Word VBA (as well as Excel VBA), if I type a help term in the "Type a question for help" box, several help file pages shown as hyperlinks generally appear. However, those links with "(Visual Basic for Applications)" at the end of the help-page name do not work when I click on them. (Example: "Character Set (0-127) (Visual Basic for Applications)".) Nothing happens. Other hyperlinks, to Word-, Excel-, or Office-related VBA help pages, work fine in bringing up the relevant help page.     - Adding Multiple Rows to a Table in a Word Form First off I would like to thank all of the people that post, and all the people that respond. I have lurked for a long time, dependent on the Q&A of others. Today I have spent 12 hours reviewing and steeling snippets from all over the web. I have my table set up to add a row at the end of my table on my protected form, and to add a text form field to 5 of the 7 cells, and also add & populate 2 separate dropdown lists. This works and I could stop here. That being said, my table can be updated with only several rows or up to 5 full pages. I would like to tweak my VBA code to request some sort of input and it would populate that many rows. I am guessing that the best answer would be to loop my current code the number of times the user input. If so, I am guessing it should be fairly easy addition for the loop. Lastly, I am posting because I am sure there are other people that may / will be looking for a similar solution. I am enclosing my code below in case this information is needed to answer my question. First off, I'd like to say that I hate Office 2007. :oP I hate the huge, fluffy GUI that they force you to use (since your only other option is to build an entire set of toolbars, one icon at a time, and just ignore the "ribbon"). I hate that the only features I can find are extremely obvious ones... which means that every average user is gonna think this is the best upgrade ever, and every advanced user is gonna end up pulling their hair out trying to find advanced features that they've been using for years... which brings me to my question. How do I bind a keystroke to a macro in Word 2007? Before, I would just go to Tools > Customize > Keyboard... and bind the keystroke... but now, of course, since there is no such thing as a "menu" any more, that option doesn't exist, and I can't find anything like it on the "ribbon". It's only one button on my form that calls the bound routine so another button immediately after with a hyperlink to the file can be a way to open the worksheet and do what's necessary manually.     - Getting round the binding / different versions problem There seem to be quite a few posts about trying to get Word and Excel to work together when the original files have been compiled in Office 2003 and users have an older version. I have the same problem. I'm sending from a Word form to Excel and getting other data back from the same worksheet. If I remove references to the Excel library I get errors (on other PCs) because bits of the code aren't recognised by that version of Excel. I thought a solution could be simply to have the Excel part of the code as a macro in that sheet. All Word has to do is open the sheet and say 'Application.Run "macro"' but that doesn't work either.     - Hard return to activate "dead" hyperlink in Word... Hello. Here's my dilemma. Hope someone out there can help. I'm taking data from one program and pasting into Word (with this other program, there's really no export function, so cutting and pasting is the only way I can do this). The problem is that when I paste the information into Word, all of the hyperlinks are "dead" (that is, when you try to Ctrl+click the link, it does nothing). Of course, I can manually enter a hard return at the end of the hyperlink to activate it, but I have a TON of links and don't really want to spend time doing this. I've tried creating a macro to do this, and it does everything it should need to do to re-activate the hyperlink, but it's not. I'm actually in the VBA window, stepping through the script. I see it locate the letters "http" and move to the end of the link, then I see what looks to me like a Return/Enter, but the link never "activates." Here's the VBA code. Anyone know how I can generate a hard return that will activate a hyperlink?     - Conditionally Compile for Word 2007? Hi, I've got a template that features in menu in earlier versions of Word, and when it runs in Word 2007, I want it to use a tab on the ribbon instead. I've got the tab working, and I know how to dynamically determine (from Application.Version) if I'm running in Word 2007, so I can make it work. BUT: the module that works with the ribbon includes some declarations (such as iRibbonControl) that are not available in earlier versions of Word. So I don't think this code will work with earlier versions. What's the best way to handle this? Is there a way to conditionally compile the code? I know i can conditionally compile for a Macintosh by including #if Mac Then 'this code only included on mac versions #Else 'this code only include on PC versions #End If but I don't know how to set up a condition like that "Mac" condition that's built into VBA.     - VBA reference problem Hi folks, I have two word template projects. One is loaded globally from the autostart folder you can specify in the word options. This one contains a toolbar button by which the user can add a signature graphic file to the document and some basic methods (like "take the current document, save it and do something with it"). The other is a document template with some form fields and a toolbar button. When pressing the button, the form fields are read and one of the global template's methods is invoked. To be able to cll the global template's method, I need to reference that template. The global template can be found on a network resource, like \\MyServer\Templates. Everything works perfectly fine on my developing machine. When a user now clicks the button on his machine, he gets a compiler error message, that says that the global template project cannot be found. When I check the references, I have an entry like "Missing: ~w????.tmp". Back on my developing machine, the reference now points to the user temp folder and not to the network share anymore. Though, everything still works fine. How do I reference a template from a networkshare correctly? Merging the global template's code to the second template is not an option.     - ActiveX in doc Hi, I have written a "Signature" activex control for MS Word that allows users to sign different ranges of a document and shows crossed out signature box if the text in that range has been altered. I've put a template with a toolbar button for inserting the control into an active document. Both the control and the template (including VBA project in the template) are digitally signed and work well - no macro security warnings - while inserting new signatures to a documents. The problem arises when a user opens the signed document, the unfamous message box "c:\...test.doc contains macros ... may contain viruses..." pops up. The controls in the document will work fine no matter if the user choses to enable or disable the macros. The message box will disappear if I attach digital signature to the project (containing only empty ThisDocument module) in the document, but how can I do it programmatically? I think the message box may disappear if I set the macro security level to High, but changing the company wide policy would break a lot of users' apps. Is there any way to suppress the message box if the macro security level is medium and there is no macros in the document itself, only digitally signed activex controls? Alex. (default) MS dos or other decoding. I've tried all 3 at various times but
nothing works.

Are these documents on floppy disc? In which case they are nor converted but
corrupted. Never access floppy disc from Word.

I think it's OK to *read* them (a kind of access) but NEVER to write to
removable media from Word. So it isn't the reading that's done it. They got
corrupted when they were written.
