    - Documents convert to Hebrew after some manipulations Hi! I am experiencing a strange problem: I have an application that inserts some information in front of the main body of each document. It works great. However, documents from one particular user convert to Hebrew after my inserts. The text my application inserts changes from right to left. In the original document the language is set to English US. In the resulting document the language is Hebrew. I have no clue where to start my troubleshooting efforts. Is it on my side? Does the user have to change something on his? What can I do programmatically to eliminate this problem? Any ideas/suggestions/samples are greatly appreciated.     - Import AutoCAD DWGS I have table of two columns and unknown rows. I would like to insert all the AutoCAD files located in FOLDER XYZ into the word document.     - Word 2007 VBA can not set options.print... properties Has anyone else run into this (and found a reason/fix)? On one of our five test dev machines, Word 2007 has a weird bug. Start a blank new doc, go into the VBA macro editing area, add the line: options.printbackground=false (on our machine, you can use ANY of the print options for this test - printcomments, printbackgrounds, printdraft, etc.). they ALL fail... but the non-print options are fine.) If I try to run the macro, it breaks on that line with a runtime 4120 error bad parameter. I've changed it to options.printbackground=true - still no go. I've tried changing the default printer and restarting word. Still no go. Curiously, I can do a: msgbox options.printbackground and it will accurately read the value of the printbackground hckecbox from the word options, advanced, printing section. so... on this ONE machine, I can READ but not SET the options for printing programmatically.     - MACRO to convert to hex I need to convert ascii characters (including unicode) to 4 digit hexadecimal representation. The alt+x (Selection.ToggleCharacterCode) functionality works for a single character, but I am trying to write a macro to convert every character in the file.     - Forms and Table of Contents I'm a wannabe expert at forms. I have a pre-made document for engineers describing equipment which has a table of contents, places to insert images, Excel tables, and an Appendix added at the end (which will auto-fill into the toc). I want to have part of this document automated so the people filling in the forms can't make a lot of changes. How can I create a text fill-in within the table of contents? I've tried and because it is already a type of field I think that I probably can't do this. Also, I have several places in the document that once you type in the first text fill-in I want it to populate that information in about 10 different other places in the document automatically, including the TOC and header or footer.     - Macro Question for Word 2003 I have been trying to record a macro that will delete a Frame and the Text Form field inside of it. I only want just that data which is at the top of the Page to be deleted for people who already have pre-printed letterheads. However, the Macro I record only works if my cursor is next to that information.     - What happens to "Keep Text Only" I am a news hound and "collect" news stories and culinary-related news items. Usually, when I copy an article and paste it into Word 2000 (I am using Windows XP Home), I get a tiny "clipboard" icon (at the bottom of the document) which gives me the option to "Keep Text Only." But sometimes, the "icon" doesn't show up, and I am then at a loss on how to "Keep Text Only." Why does the icon sometimes NOT show up, and is there a way to either "force" the icon to show, or to "Save Text Only" without the icon? Thanks in advance.     - Help - Word probelm (macros) I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but here goes: Every single time I open Microsoft Word (Office 2003), I get the following text box: "Microsoft Office Word [in border of the message box]" "This file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature. Since you are running under high security level, these macros will be disabled." Is there any way I can find the source/cause of this? This happens even if I just start Word without opening any document files at all. It also happens every time I start Outlook (because that opens word as the Outlook E-Mail editor). I am concerned that something may have infected my system; I had some kind of critical problem a couple weeks ago, the system would shut down immediately after starting, and I did have to restore from an image backup. The restore (from a Drive Image backup) was drive C:, which includes the program files folder, but on my system the My Documents folder (which has all the Word files) resides on drive E:, which was not restored.     - Lowering Inline Shapes - How does Mathtype/Equation Editor do it? If you insert any picture into the InlineShapes collection, the picture sits with its base on the line of text. The only way I have found of lowering such a picture is to select it and use the Font.Position property - or Format / Font / Character Spacing from the menus. Mathtype and Equation Editor achieve the same result in some other way. Their output is lowered compare to the line of text but the Font.Position property is Normal (or 0). How do they do it?     - Word macro warning Hi Everyone I have XP Pro SP2 which is fully updated. I accessed a site using IE7, copied some text and pasted it into Word 2003. I saved the document and, when I reopened it, I was warned about it containing a macro. I did a virus scan which was clear. I enabled the macro and looked at the VBA editor but saw no code there. In the Project pane there are "Reference to Normal" and "ThisDocument". When I looked in the right pane of "ThisDocument", I saw DefaultOcxName, DefaultOcxName1, DefaultOcxName2, DefaultOcxName3 etc., to DefaultOcxName15. The text in the document was present initially in cells in tables so I converted it from tables to text then resaved the text in a new document but exactly the same warning was displayed when I reopened it. Any idea what's happened? I don't like the warning when I open these document(s). I suspect that I could retype the whole document (it would be pointless having a copy/paste facility) and that is likely to prevent the macro warning but I'd rather not have to do that.     - Word 2007 Digital Certificate problems? I've got a template signed with a thawte code-signing certificate (updated version for IE7). This certificate works as it should with Word 2003. If I try to run my template (it's a .dotm - macro enabled template) on Word 2007, in which I've selected the Trust Center's "Disable all macros except digitaly signed," it doesn't work -- the macros get disabled and I never get asked about the certificate. The only way i can get the macros to work is by choosing "enable all macros." If however, I run my template on Word 2003 and tell Word 2003 to "always trust this certificate," and then I install Word 2007 on that machine, Word 2007 does see and trust the certificate. Is there some additional step required to make it so a Word 2007 user with "Disable all macros except digitally signed" can use my template without having previously trusted the certificate in Word 2003 ?? I have a userform that has 7 checkboxes, but many variations run many different macros. I am doing ok until I change the value of one of the checkboxes.     - Spell Check in Protected Form Word 2003: Trying to spell check a protected form (.DOT). I've followed the instructions at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm, including replacing the spellcheck button on the Standard toolbar and the Tools menu. The problem is, once I close the template and reopen it (or open it in .DOC format), the button and menu options have reset to the original funtions, which are not available in a protected form.     - Word hogs entire CPU Although I don't use macros or VBA in my Word documents, I think they may be using ME. I have a 50 page document that I have formatted with outline numbering, captioned, etc. On my computer at work, I have Word 2003 and every time I load this document, it consumes nearly 100% of the CPU. Even my Outlook has trouble running (nearly locks up) when this document is loaded. When I ;am working on the document, the cursor does not show most of the time and it "jumps" around by a character or 2 when I have the mouse pointer in the area of the cursor. I know I did not use outline numbering,properly, but I don't know why it would be so active even when the document was in the background. Does anyone have any ideas.     - Command Not Available error I have some macro code that in part created a new section then unlinks the section's footers from the previous section. I have one person who is using it that is getting a Command Not Available error message. The section of code that is giving the error is below with the line highlighted when debugged noted.     - how to bypass "Show Repairs" dialog in Documents.Open, Format:=11 I have a macro that opens an HTML file then I save it as a text file. When the HTML file opens, it opens a dialog box that I need to disable. The box is titled "Show Repairs" and details are "Error are detected in this file, but Word was able to open the file by making the repairs below..." etc. The "repairs" are "Recovered Text Only 1". When I click the Close option on the dialog box, the macro continues. This dialog is an annoyance. Is there any way to bypass this?     - Go to closest editable area I have a template in Word 2003 that uses partion protection. Certain areas of the doc have full edit capabilities while others are not editable. What I want to do is anytime the user clicks or selects inside a protected area, I want it to move their cursor to the closes or next editable area.     - save document based on template without macro Greetings All, I have a problem I can't figure out. I have been asked to create a form for a standard report that we need to send to our customer every week. I have created a template that contains 90 formfields that allow the user to enter all the necessary information. The most important functionality involed in this template is that it makes it easy to save a copy for our internal use, and a subset of that copy as an aditional document for our customers use. Because some of the end users of this template are not very computer savvy, I have decided to lock the template from the start. I also decided that the easiest way for me to deploy this would be to intercept the FileSave and FileSaveAs commands and simply direct them to my macro so I don't have to make a custom button on each users computer. The Macro uses data from several of the formfields to create a standard filename, then opens a FileSaveAs dialog to allow the user to edit the name or path of the file to be saved. This is done a second time after some automatic editting and protection of the document occurs. All of this works wonderfully. The problem is that the macro is saved in the documents created my the macro, and the macro continues to intercept the FileSave and FileSaveAs commands. Is there a way that I can save the documents created by the macro in such a way that they no longer contain or recognize the macro that is in the template? Thanks for your help.     - strange reference problem Hi! I have a couple of templates, that uses the same code-template (and hence I refer to the code-template from the other templates under References). Everything works great 99% of the time but a couple of times a document hangs and after that the references go out the window. If I look under the References it cand find the reference to fhe file. If I try to add the code file again it can't find. The solution to the problem is to *rename* the code file and then add it. Then everything works great once again. Any ideas what might be wrong?     - macro association I have tried the right forum but no answer so I am trying this one hopefully I had a dot document with lots of macros on different menu bars and now after transfering that file on an other computer (my laptop). I still have the macros and the menu bars but the macros are not activated when I press them . It seem like I would have to reinstall all the buttons association.     - Userforms: 508 Compliance question I normally don't crosspost, but this is an obscure question so I've intentionally crossposted this to the three groups that I think would be the most likely to have someone who might know the answer. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience. Section 508 is a government regulation that "requires that when Federal agencies develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology, Federal employees with disabilities have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to the access and use by Federal employees who are not individuals with disabilities". I'd like to know the extent to which Userforms built in the various office applications do (or don't) support section 508. For example, a web page might have text for pictures, figures, etc. so that a blind person can still navigate and use the page. Does anyone know if Userforms do or don't support whatever technologies are used by the disabled? I'm not familiar with the technology, nor with what Microsoft might have done 'under the hood' to address access for the disabled, and I'm not sure where to find out. Bottom line, I have some code and userform I'd like to provide to a government organization (for free) but I have to determine whether they would be allowed to use it. While the section 508 allows for some exceptions, I'll be more likely to have support if I can actually describe the extent to which the userforms are compliant (if they are).     - Can I customize a find macro to search something with a variable middle? I may not have posed my question very well in the subject line, so here's what I'm trying to do. Let's say I have an area of text in a document (Word 2003) that I want to find, but it may not be the same every time. Here's and example of a couple possible areas of text. Area 1: aaaaa bbbbb ccccc zzzzz Area 2: aaaaa mmmmm nnnnn zzzzz As you can see in both areas, "aaaaa" will always start it and "zzzzz" will always end it. What I would like to do is set up my macro to find the entire section from a to z. Once selected, my macro will type in some new text. There is no special formatting I have to worry about and there are no tables or pictures in the area I'm searching for - just text. Also, this area will only appear once per document. It is very possible, however, that there may be section breaks somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure if this would present a problem. I'm not new to macros, so the only part I need help with is how to write it to search these sections from start to end, regardless of what may be in the middle. I have everything else covered. For update it's not a problem, but when I try to break the link's I break a TOC too. for a group of users. Whereas when i copied there, its showing new menu to
ALL users. I am trying to find a way of loading a menu for a group of users -
without having to setup different templates startup locations ...

is there a way to load startup template at run-time ?

or update "Templates And Addins" setting from a code ?

Can anyone help ?

I am afraid I do not quite get your situation.

If you want different users to have a different start-up content, then you
need different start-up locations.

How are your groups of users defined?
