    - Don't save normal.dot We have an application that reads a text file with bookmark names and values which is merged into a Word document automatically by a VB.NET custom program which then prints the merged document. Everything works except that when Word is closing it pops up a message stating that Normal.dot can't be saved because it is already open elsewhere. It also appears to be saving it in Document and Settings someplace. The VB app runs on an unattended server and each time a document is merged and printed another message pops up and I can't have all these messages hanging around.     - Finding a bookmark with a macro I need to find a way to locate a bookmark's index number via a macro. Currently I use, Dialogs(wdDialogInsertBookmark).Show to allow the user to select the desired bookmark, then they have to click the Goto button. I can then get the index. The problem is with Dialogs(wdDialogInsertBookmark).Show, I can not disable the Delete button, if the user clicks Delete rather than Goto the macro errors out. Is there a way to display a dialog box, or something else, that will allow the user to select a bookmark from a list, and then I be able to read the index for that bookmark?     - Run code after mail merge I am using WORD 97. I am in the process of producing mail merge letters via microsoft query.     - How to execute macro when starting Word? Hi, I want to execute some code when starting Word. In a template this can be done with AutNew() macro. But an AutoNew() macro in Normal.dot doesn't fire. I've created a sub Document_New() in the ThisDocument module of Normal.dot and this fires when I start a new blank document via File | New.     - macro security error trying to invoke a plug-in Hi, I have written a MS word COM add-in using vb6, which creates a menu item and invokes the add-in when it is clicked. It works on several of our PCs but on one users machine it always gives the following error when he tries to select the menu item: "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your macro security settings" we have tried setting his macro security to low and still to no avail (mine is set to high and the plugin still works fine). he is using NAV but has disabled the office integration (and has also tried disabling the whole of NAV) but again he just gets the same error. All the PCs are using office 2003. I am using an add-in designer and have set the OnAction property of the CommandBarButton to "<!xxx>" where xxx is the progid of the designer. I can't beleive I have done anything wrong with the code because as I say it works on several other PCs. we can invoke the same progid via vbscript so I know everything is registered correctly does anyone have any clues for the next thing to try?     - Connect to a mysql database Hello, I have a mySQL DB on my local computer (localhost) and it holds information on many thousands of different products prices etc...     - Reproducing Excel table in Word Hi, Does anyone has already reproduce an excel table in word. I'm trying to do that (the programmation is below) but it is very complex. I'm looking for information to help me to progress. What the program do is a mailmerge executed from Excel. The excel file contains a sheet for mail merge data and others sheets (table1.1, table1.2, etc.) for tables used in the mailmerge document. When I execute the macro in excel, the Word Macro is executed and all the tables are formatted in word just before the mailmerge execution. The table formating seems to be very complex because: 1) Text with bold and exponents, italic, size caracter, ... tbl.cell(i,j) = rngExcel.Cells(i, j).Format 'give format of the first character and not of all character. Does anyone know how to paste all cell formatting in word? I don't know if doing a copy and paste is the best solution because, some cells are merged in excel and I have to adjust formatting (borders,horizontal alignment) thereafter. 2) In excel table, some cell contains text that go on the following cells. I have to merge the table cells in Word to take this into account. Also, it is possible that the cells are merge in excel. 3) Want to respect column width, borders, alignment etc. 4) I added a section to take NumberFormat from Excel. etc. Does anyone have already done something similar to this ? Is there a simpler way to have great word table formatting without having to program each things? example: copy paste the table using a pre-determined table formating.     - macro to import excel data into word text Ok, I would greatly appreciate any help with my situation. I have an excel spreadsheet containing data for many electrical devices. The first column in the spreadsheet contains the name of the device with the following columns containing data for that respective device. So, each row in the spreadsheet pertains to one electrical device. Now, in Word I have to create a report using this excel spreadsheet data. Because the devices are similar, I have created a paragraph in Word with bookmarks at the locations where I want to import the excel data for each device. Each paragraph in the report will pertain to only one electrical device in the spreadsheet (therefore, each paragraph will access one row of data in excel). I would like to create a macro that I can run in Word, that will prompt me for the name of the device and based on the input, it will generate the paragraph template with that device's respective data. Some bookmarks I have created have names like, devicename, amps, voltage, growthrate, transformer. Has anyone done something similar before or know how to do this? Again, any help would be great.     - WindowSelectionChange event failing to fire We are seeing a problem at our customer sites, where the WindowSelectionChange event fails to fire, which is interfering with the proper functioning of one of our applications. In order to trace this, we have written a macro which simply declares an object as WithEvents Word.Application, and pops up a message box, when the event fires (see below). Testing at various sites, we have found that the macro fails at a small percentatge of client sites. We know that at least one site is running Word 2003, but we're not sure about the others. The problem always goes away (i.e. the event is always raised) if we keep any custom .DOT's from loading. In one case, we isolated a single .DOT from another vendor, and that vendor was able to figure out that the problem was due to code in the following form: On Error Resume Next Application.Run "macroname" On Error GoTo 0 where "macroname" was invalid, and where the code was excuted through an AutoOpen. That vendor removed the line of code, and the site is now up & running. However, we have found two other sites where the event fails to occur, and where we could isolate a single .DOT which controlled it. In these cases there were two different .DOTs triggering the problem, both of which include AutoOpen processing. However, as far as we can tell (one of those being from another product of ours) neither .DOT contains code in the above format. If you have any idea why this might happen, I would very much appreciate it if you could cc: any reply directly to me, as well as to the group. seems that there is high demand on ontime-macros right now.

After auto-macros have completed,
there is a document with a path <> "",
if double-clicking has opened a doc.
