    - Sending Document as Email (using Visual Basic 6) Hello, I am automating some Word functionality (invisibly) in VB 6 and the Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library. I need to send the active document as email exactly as it happens in the Word application GUI when you click the "File/Send To/Mail Recipient" menu item and then click the "Send Copy" button (after filling in the email address, subect, etc.). I do not want to send the file as an attachment as I've seen happen with the Word.Document.SendMail() function. Maybe I'm not using that function properly, but does anyone know the way to do this?     - "activate" Active Document with code After I run my code, when I try to use the toolbar, nothing happens. It acts as if it's frozen. If I click on the window in the toolbar (which shuts the active document) and then re-click on the window in the task bar, my toolbar now is functional again. How can I programmatically get around this (having to mouse-click off and then on the active window) after running my code? (Neither Activedocument.Activate nor Activedocument.Select does it.)     - Forms I'm still haven't been able to solve my problem with my form. The form was created using the form toolbar. It has many yes or no checkboxes. If a person marks the no checkbox, there is no need for them to go through the rest of the question but should be able to jump down to the next question. I wrote macros for each "no" checkbox that if it were marked, then to skip to the next question. This works perfect on my machine but when I e-mail this form to another person, only the first macro works. I did each macro as an individual "sub". Should these instead be a function? As this form will be e-mailed out to participants, they can't go in and tell each macro to run. How do I get each macro to be "active" each time this form is opened? What am I missing here? Help!!!     - Hide or delete text in header (word 2000) Anyone have a pointer as to how I can delete all text in a word 2000 header? I tried this within a for each and while it works, it also seems to make the doc always open in Normal mode. The docs usually open in preview mode. Keep normal mode no matter what.     - Macros run in Word 2002 but not 2003 I have a pretty extensive collection of macros that create, modify and store word documents. These include macros imbedded in templates. This collection of macros runs fine on all my machines that run Word 2002, but I recently purchased a machine with Word 2003. Macro security settings are on low, and my virus scanning software is off. Does Word 2003 have some inherent security that 2002 didn't, and can I disable it?     - Macro gives wrong table count? I often do reports with lots of tables that get added, deleted and shuffled. Tiring of going back through the document after each change to manually renumber the tables, I created a macro to help me. (Unfortunately, due to other considerations, the use of specific styles and fields aren't possible.) The macro finds the selection point, sets a range to the beginning of the document, and counts all the tables within the range. It then adds one, puts it in the proper place, and we move on. They made me use Track Changes on this round of reports, and I think it may be messing with my macro. After successfully counting 35 tables, the next one suddenly numbered 49!! I turned off Tracking and tried again, with the same results. The macro is below. Any suggestions?     - Assigning RegExp backreferences to variables Is there a way to keep backreferences from a regular expression after a replacement operation is finished? I want to assign part of a match to a variable. I'm using VBScript Regular Expressions 5.5 and Word 2000.     - Word variables - public? static? Hi I'm sure there is a simple answer to this but I can't find it. I have a word document that asks a question in the Private Sub Document_open() and puts it in to a Variable. The same sub creates a Submit Button that calls Public Sub cmdSubmit_Click(). The problem is the cmdSubmit coding does not get the value given to the variable in the Document_open.     - running macro in background Hi, I have a fairly complicated macro that does a lot of text editting. I don't want to see what is happening as the macro runs (it takes a few seconds). I would just like to see the end result. So I would like to have the macro run in the background during execution of the commands and then at the end to display the entire file as modified. I am using Word 2003 and am having trouble with the Dim "MyText" As _____ command in order to do the For Each.....Next command. I don't know what to define the MyText as. The macro finds the text "Matt.", then a Hyperlink to a spcific Bookmark in the active document is inserted. There are several hundred instances of "Matt." in my document.     - Checking for RangeShapes in a header Can anyone nudge me in the right direction with the following problem, please? I have a document with odd and even pages. Every page has a header graphic. I need to insert a landscape page anywhere after page 1 - this I can manage OK. Now I need to go into both the odd and even headers of the landscape section. I insert a page break command to display both odd and even pages of the new section. Then I go to each of the headers and unlink them from the previous. Next I need to check if there is a shape range in both the odd and even headers and delete it. I think I might be able to use the following commands: With Selection .Sections(1).Headers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary).Range.ShapeRange.Select .Delete .Sections(1).Headers(wdHeaderFooterEvenPages).Range.ShapeRange.Select .Delete End With And here is the problem: If, for some reason there isn't a ShapeRange in one of the headers then one of the commands show above causes Word to crash and therefore I don't think an On Error statement is appropriate as it's not a runtime error. What I am trying to compose is a statement which says "If there is a ShapeRange in the Primary Header of this section then delete it. Otherwise, go to the Even Pages of the section header, check if there is a shape range there and delete it" Easy to write in pseudo code but I'm baffled on how to write it in VBA!     - Table formatting code extremely slow I have some code that develops tables in excel and then pastes them into a Word document. There may be as many as 150 tables, all identical but for the data values. After pasting them into Word, I execute a Word macro that loops through the tables in the document and for each of those I have just pasted in, executes numerous formatting commands. As each subsequent table is processed, the code gets slower and slower. Why is this and is there anything I can do? I have turned off screen updating, but to no avail.     - Merge Documents in Memory I have a project that involves opening several Word documents in memory, making changes to the text, merging them into one master document, and printing it to one file. The problem I'm facing is that I can't figure out how to merge the document objects without saving them first. Word appears to have no problem merging documents from file, but I would rather avoid this. Writing the changed document to file first would cause unnecessary overhead. I considered programmatically using cut and paste operations to accomplish the merge, but this seems like a hack. Can anyone suggest a better way?     - Custom App Ok, so I'm building this form that will cycle through a range of documents. The range may vary depending on user selection. That is, the module that processes the information may cycle through as little as 5 documents (sets values from the text fields into the fields on the documents) to as many as maybe 20 documents. What is the fastest way to get this done? Some documents do not have any fields in them so they don't require any information to be added to them but they do need to be copied over to another folder for the user to browse. I have attached the code that I have used for this below. My problem I believe that this code can run faster I just don't know how. Is there any way to tell if a document has bookmarks without opening it? That would definitely cut down on the processing time I think. Any suggestions are welcome!!!!     - wdDialogFileOpen folder problem We've just upgraded our system to W2k3 terminal server with Word 2k3 SP1. Macros which worked fine in Word97 are now a little flaky! In a couple of places we have code as follows: ChangeFileOpenDirectory UserDir Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen).Show The Open dialog always appears but sometimes the "look in" folder is "My Documents" not the directory set in UserDir. The directory in UserDir does exist - we get an error if it doesn't. There is no pattern to when the right directory appears, it can work correctly fifteen times or more and then fail, alternatively it can fail fifteen times and then work once.     - Word2003 stops responding My users have a problem with word2003, it stops responding with no apparent reason. They will be working fine opening and editing word documents and after a while the cursor in the word document would freeze and they no longer able to edit the document.     - Attached Template Issue I have a master template which contains quite a bit of VBA code. We send this master template to department adminstrators who tweak and create sub templates from the master. These sub templates are then distributed to the staff who create their end documents. In the save event I programmatically detach the "attached template" and re-attach the master template so at any stage of the process the template and/or end docuement uses the VBA code from the master. This has worked great (about two years) untill recently. Although, the master is still attached to the end document (which I have verfied by stepping through the code) it can not seem to find it. After some research, I found MSDN article 823372 which describes mt issue perfectly. This article provides a work around and a hotfix (hotfix not avaible to general public until full regression testing has been completed but can get it by calling microsoft) but neither one works as well as I hoped. After days of testing I have come to beleive that an Office Security patch is the culprit (KB887979). My question is: Has anyone else had this issue? And does anyone know if this Office Patch is in fact the culprit. I would perfer to leave it out of any new ghost images we send to the field if it is infact the problem.     - How do I make only periods on my screen appear bigger? For ease of reading on my screen, I want only the periods a lot larger and bolder, i.e., Lucinda Console, etc. We use Times New Roman 12 at work, and the periods colons are so faint I can barely see them.     - HELP - Why is my whole menu disabled???? I am programmatically opening a mailmerge document and bringing it up in PREVIEW mode. When I look at the document, I would like to close the document but leave WORD open. But the entire menu seems to be disabled as well as the box to just close the current document. I can iterate through the fields collection in each header and footer and find any PAGE fields, BUT I can't figure out how to establish a range object that lets me insert stuff just before this field. objRange = objField.Result just doesn't work reliably -- things get inserted in the middle of the field code, when they get inserted at all. The Tests are marked by [~Test ID=xxxx~], (xxxx is a variable number). I need to select the range from [~Test ID=xxxx~] to the beginning of the next Test tag.     - macros disabled in protected form I have created a word-2002 form that captures student name, operating system, email address, etc. I want to create a macro that saves the completed form as 'form data' only and saves the file as a normal word document. I will then have the student email both files back to me. I have created a macro using 'recorder' to change tools/option/save to save the file as form data only.     - global variables - shared subroutines I have the following problem, I have two modules, that means two macros, in my application and there are some subroutines which are common and I was trying to have them in only one module and to call them by module1.sub_name. These subs change the value of a global variable which has purposely the same name in both modules but I noticed that when I call them by that way the value of the global variables do not change. If you know for a fact that the first word in a cell is a word and that the
second one is precedd by a field, then it means that this nergefield is the
first field in the cell, so try yhis:

Selection.Cells(1).Range.Fields(1).Select
