    - form keypreview property Hello, I would like to trap the _keydown even of a Word VBA form. This only works if there are no other controls on the form, because otherwise the focussed control's event is fired (and not the form's event). In VB (and Access VBA) a form has .KeyPreview property, which allows to trap keypresses. But in Word VBA the property is not there. How can i trap a keypress on a form with multiple controls?     - Get total folder+subfolder size in VBA Anybody know a way to do the VBA equivalent of clicking File>Properties on a folder in Windows Explorer? I'd like to get the total number of files, and their combined size, under a given top-level folder. Using the FileSearch object works OK (if slowly) for total size, but it counts folders as files in the file count, and I don't see a property of FileSearch that can be tested as to type. Any clues? My document is filled with a Intranet Forms (when I send the form, it writes a text document on the hard drive and then launch the word document. The word document reads the text file ti fill the field). The Document_Open don't work when I open it from my Intranet, I must go in the vb editor to launch the macro manually.     - Track Change Parser Hello everyone, I'm working on creating a procedure that will basically parse an entir word document and whenever it comes across a review change (create with the Track Changes option) it will add the page number to an array In the end, I want to simply print all of the pages off that ha corrections or changes on them. I have thought through some of th program and I am using Word's built in function to find the nex change/comment. I run into problems though when it gets to the end o the document...the dialog comes up asking if i want to repeat from th beginning of the document and if i click cancel it just crashes th script. I hope this is making sense, if anyone knows of an easier wa to do this, it would be very helpful.     - manual pagination and/or find sentences at bottom of a page and top of a page. Are there any ways to manipulate the pagination functions besides the keepwithnext and keeptogether. For instance Say I have a paragraph with 3 sentences that split from the bottom of the page to the next page. Word will handle that automatically but I want it to split the paragraph say after a completed sentence, and sometimes add a message on the next page with a label from the previous page at the beginning of the paragraph. Otherwise is there a way to find out what the last sentence on a given page is or any other functions that could help in that process so I can manually figure out how to split the data by position.     - Move end of range to where I am? I think I've got this right, but I'm not sure. I'm used to using Selection, and I'm trying to do this in Range. I want to set a range that starts at the beginning of the document and extends until the end of the paragraph containing a specified text string. So far, I've got: ' Start at beginning of doc rngTemp.SetRange(Start:=0, End:=1) ' Find end of range With ActiveDocument.Range.Find .Text = "^pFormNo. " .Forward = True .Execute End With Okay - that should put me where the Form No. is at the bottom of the range I want. Except I need to extend this to the end of the paragraph, then reset my rngTemp parameters from the beginning to that point. First, I'm not sure I did the Find okay. I thought I read somewhere that you can't mix Selection and Range, so I tried this with Range. Second, with Selection, I have a visible cursor insertion point that makes things easier. And I can MoveRight to the end of the paragraph. What am I moving with Range and how do I move it? Text wrapping for this image is set to "Tight", but I can also change it to "Square" with the same results Every time I try to position this image it jumps back up and aligns itself with the very top edge of the page.     - Shortcut key doesn't run macro properly In Word 2000 I have a macro in an Add-in template that finds the next @ symbol. It moves one character to the right before performing the Find in case an @ symbol is currently selected. The macro works correctly when run from the VBE or from a toolbar button. However, when run from the Alt+2 shortcut, it does not move right before performing the Find (so once it has found the first @, it stays on that @ each time Alt+2 is pressed). The weird thing is that if the template itself is opened, Alt+2 works correctly on text inserted into the template - it just doesn't work in other documents.     - removing code from document I have a Word document that contains code in the ThisDocument section. The code allows people within my department to make changes and email the document between one another (along with a few other minor functions). However, at some point the document will need to be emailed outside of our department. At that time, I need the ability to email a copy of the plain word document without any code.     - Searching for text in all the documents in a folder and its subfolders I have a couple of macros that can run a macro in all the documents in a folder. But I want to do something that those macros can't handle. I want to do a Find (not a replace, just a find) that will stop at each occurrence of the found text in all the documents in a folder (and optionally its subfolders). This is difficult because the code in the below macro to close the current document and move on to the next document must not run until all the searched-for strings in the first document are found. In the below code, I've commented out the Close Document code. Normally, if I do a Windows Find for the documents that contain the text, I still have to open each document individually and search again for the text. I want to make it all one continuous search, opening a document, stopping at each instance of the found text as I repeat the command, and then when there are no more to be found in that document, closing it and opening the next document. Can that be done? My company is in the process of making a program which will interact with the users version of Word on their machine (basically open a document, replace some characters, etc...). Currently I have made my solution work with Word 2003. I am now trying to make it work with Word XP. I guess the first question I 'd like to ask is if it is even possible to make one solution which will use the correct Dll's which coincide with their version of word? I have totally redone the app and used only the XP dll's (office.dll and word.dll) and it works. But i really dont want to have 2 versions of my code due to the fact that it will be much more difficult to maintain. I do have the office tools for visual studio 2003.     - How to make a variable persistent? Hi, Does anyone know how to make a variable persistent over a long time? I have a macro that manipulates words that are selected in a document. Therefore I retrieve (from the registry or an ini file) the name of a database file and store this name into a variable. I prefer to do this only once, when the macro is initiated/started for the first time, rather that retrieving the database name each time a word is manipulated. Any idea how I could achieve this? How I can keep my macro "alive" while no words are selected or manipulated? The macro's are written only in "Sub" procedures, there are no functions and no forms.     - Macros running much slower than before I have a very large and complex library of macros which I developed largely under Word 2000 and Windows 2000 on a computer with a 733MHz Pentium 3. I'm now running them under Word 2002 and Windows XP on a laptop computer with a 2.2 GHz Pentium 4. I find that certain operations run much slower on the new machine. "Much slower" means that a macro which used to display its first dialog box in a second or less now typically takes 20 or 30 seconds to display it. Much of the slowness (but not all of it) seems to be associated with some type of initialization. That is, the second time I run a macro it starts much more quickly than the first time, although still not as quickly as it did on the old machine. The machines have the same amount of RAM (512MB). I can't identify any differences that might account for this problem except that since the new machine is portable, it has a slower disk, and its CPU might have a smaller cache. I have a hard time believing that either of these factors accounts for the drop in performance. I have watched the laptop computer's disk activity light while these macros are starting, and it seems to be no more busy than when the computer is idle. What might be the problem here? For Everybody, I explain the problem : I write macros VBA on Word 2000 and in a PC full XP (Office XP Pro, Win XP...) in one of my customer, it doesn't works because of dll missed whitch is finaly Mso9.dll. If I check the VBA references in this document in my configuration (Office 2000, W98) I see 4 dll referenced : VBA, OLE Automation, Mso9.dll and msword9.olb. Those references are the default references... In one of my customers whitch has Office XP, Mso9.dll and msword9.olb don't exist => Compilation error... because Mso9.dll is missed (only it). The code is protected so he can't change the references. What can I do to pass this problem and to make macros whitch works on the 2 systems ? A solution would be to make 2 files : 1 for Word 2000 and 1 for Word XP but it's not good to maintain So, Is there a service pack whitch fix this problem or a method to "prepar" the VBA environment ? As I understand it, the dataObject object should be integral to VBA and not something I have to declare a class for. My copy of VBA says it's version 6.3.8863. Hi N Yazz

If you did a full install, you will find the Batch Conversion Wizard in the
File New dialog, under "Other Documents"

Run that, and save the documents as RTF files. Then run it again to save
them back to doc files.
