    - Repagination Hello, Well, I have an unusual repagination problem. I understand that background repagination (in Normal View) may be turned off along with the screen updations. This works as expected and I do not see the "Word is repaginating ..." message on my computer which runs Microsoft Word 2003. However, the problem occurs when I install the template on Word 2000 based machines. Inspite of ensuring that background pagination is turned off and Normal View is being used, I still keep getting the "Word is repaginating..." message on these computers. I have no idea why. What takes 30 seconds on my computer takes around 6-7 minutes on the other computers that use Word 2000. I thought that background repagination in normal view should work the same in all versions of Word. Can somebody please shed some light on this? I did break the code and ensure that the options.pagination was false and activewindow.view.type was 1 (Normal) on the 2000 machines before the main loop got executed.     - Is there a mouseover VBA event I can use to tickle a hot spot comm Good morning and happy VD: In Excel, I can insert a comment into a cell, and excel puts a little red flag in the corner of the cell, and you can mouseover that flag and see the comment. Does anyone know how to make a "hot spot" in word such that when you mouseover a flag, it displays some text not visible otherwise? I already know how to insert comment in word and then do the show-hide trick, but then you see all the junk in the entire document, which is not the behavior we desire.     - VBS sript to remove menu items Hello, all: We have recently installed ADOBE ACROBAT 7.0. Hard-coded into one of their DLLs is an instruction to add the 'Adobe PDF' and 'Acrobat Comments' menus to the WORD Menu Bar. Short of uninstalling part of the product, there is no way to stop Adobe from adding these menu items. Is it possible to run a simple script that removes the ADOBE menu items when WORD starts up?     - Macros disappearing Can someone direct me to an easy to read article on transporting macros with your document. I have written on several occasions about this project and keep getting more frustrated. Latest.... I have a large forms template with many macros in it. When the template is accessed as the basis for a new word document some of the macros disappear. I made sure all of the macros were in the template by going to the organizer and copying them over. Security is set to low and when the form was first created...it worked great. It has however been through several iterations and passed from person to person through email....which I stopped them from doing because I think server rules were stripping the macros. I need to get this project finished and assure the endusers that they will have the macros needed to make the form work. I would appareciate any advice you can give.     - different letterhead layout I have created a layout for the letterhead of the company I work for. I created it where the logo and address are right aligned. There are also 3 more partner logos below the company logo and address(also right aligned). The logos are seperated from where I want to control where the text goes via a vertical line. I do not want anyone to be able to edit (meaning screw up) the layout when I send it out to the franchises. I know about inserting headers and footers and keeping them behind the text, but about a situation like this? I appreciate your help.     - re-order a color-coded document Hello everybody, I have a huge Word document with mixed color-coded sections (usually paragraphs). I'd like to have a macro to re-order the document based on the colors (for example: all the red paragraphs, followed by the greens etc.). I am thinking to a macro starting from the beginning, cutting each paragraph, evaluating it for the color, and pasting it at the end of the document in a specific section. Can anybody point me in the right direction? (Existing macros, commands to evaluate the format etc.)?     - Subdocuments.AddFromFile behavior I have created a set of macros that use the master/subdocument functions to create and manage multi-chapter documents. These have worked fine (with minor modifications) since Word 97. As suggested in the subject line, I use the Subdocuments.AddFromFile method to insert subdocs into the master document. Because, the individual chapters use a different template than the master document, the user normally gets a message box notifying her of this fact (answer OK). Also, because the two templates have the same set of styles, another message box is displayed asking whether the styles of the subdocument should be renamed. I tell my users to answer "No to All" so that the styles from the master document are used throughout. This functionality has worked consistently until some of my users upgraded to Office 2003. Now, when they insert a new chapter (subdocument) file, these message boxes do not appear, and the styles from the subdocument are renamed, resulting in multiple versions of the same style in the document. The odd thing is that I also use Word 2003, and, on my machine, the macro functions as it always did. I cannot see any obvious differences in the Word settings between my machine and the others. Does anyone know what might control this behavior, either within Word or in the VBA environment? Any suggestions as to how I can make sure styles in a subdocument are not renamed? Tanks.     - Macro security settings? I just helped a coworker this morning who couldn't run a macro I wrote. Her security setting was High. She set it to Medium, and the macro ran fine. So now I'm wondering if I should put this into an Add-In, so she can run it with security on High. I stopped, because I'm that familiar with this, and I'm not really sure that Add-Ins run on High.     - Delete text in first cell of table in footer My situation has changed a bit since my last post. Issue: I may have several sections in a document that may have a different first page footer and additonal sections that may not. Every footer however will have a table consisting of 3 columns and one row. The first column will always contain Page ? of ? field code, a date and time field and document path and file field plus some text. The second column will have a page number. I want to delete everything ONLY in the first cell in every section in every footer. I think I am complicating the issue with my old code. Here is my new code which is not even selecting in a footer but rather stays in the document text. Here is my simplified code (which certainly does not work!)     - VB to Insert Thumbnails I'm trying to develop a macro that will insert all images into a Word Table to allow comments to be entered for each image. I plan to resize the images to thumbnail size, and hope to be able to have two columns of photos, with a comment column next to each (4 columns total). I assume this is not too complicated, but am hoping someone can give me a head-start. I just want something that will grab a copy of all JPEG files in a given folder, and insert them one at a time into the table. I'm thinking that I would got right to left, then down, so the first image would go in cell A1 (using Excel nomenclature), the second in cell C1, the third in A2, and so on. I assume there's a collection I could use to cycle through all files with an exention of JPEG, right? Can anyone give me any tips on doing this.     - Need help sizing table columns correctly I need some help getting a macro working exactly the way I want. I've looked in the Help but can't quite figure out what I need to do. I'm creating a series of small tables, that will appear one after the other. Each table will have two rows. The first of the two rows will have 4 columns, the second row will contain only one column. I'd like each table to use all of the available width between the left and right page margins, which are set at 60 points each. I want the first three columns of the first row of each table to have a specific fixed width. I'd like the fourth column of the first row of each table to get whatever space is left over after the first three columns have been written. The second row of each table should get the full available width between the left and right page margins. "AutoFitBehavior:=wdAutoFitFixed" in the 'set' statement and ".AllowAutoFit = False" seem to contradict one another; the 'set' seems to be saying that I should use AutoFit while the 'with' seems to turn it off. Should the 'set' be written differently to prevent the columns from ever having had the ability to resize themselves? b. I want the widths of the first 3 columns on the first row of each table to be fixed at the sizes shown. I want the 4th column to automatically get whatever space is left between the 3rd column and the right margin without first having to calculate an actual length in inches. I thought that by leaving the width of the 4th column unspecified, it would get all of the remaining space but, in fact, it gets quite a bit less than the available space, with the result that the table is narrower than it needs to be and the right margin is much bigger than I want in the area where the tables are written. How can I get that behavior? I've looked in the Help but I must be searching on the wrong keywords because I can't find a clear answer to either problem. I was going to do some 'trial and error' with the width of the 4th column. I erased the line after the "=" on the line that sets column 4's width but the other options never appear. I was hoping to see something like "UseRemainingSpace". Shouldn't I be getting a list of options when I do that? If yes, I must have something wrong in my VBE settings; can someone tell me what I need to turn on?     - Offer Word with "manual" type mode option without auto format The auto format is very aggravating to me an many people I talk to. We used to use word perfect which was much easier to use , at least in its earlier versions. Most of us (older users) do not have time to spend learning a lot of how to use what should be a simple program that we can just use instead of spending a lot of time learning how to program a typed in document. A full "manua" option should be offered so that we can type in what we want without the program changing or "correting it for me ." Because of limited funds, I often do not have access to a secretary that might know how to format a Word document. I often have to do my own typing of documents and I am ( along with others) extremely frustrated with the Word auto formating and how it changes something back after I try to change it or it won't let me change something on the document. I learned to type in the 1960's and I would like to be able to just type. The program should have a very simple method of programing features such as "auto return" etc. I would be more than happy to discuss this in greater detail. I believe you would have a lot more happy users if this would be offered. As I said, many people I talk to are frustrated with Word. We use it because it seems to have become the standard format for most users. When I have to stop and try to go into help to try to figure out what to do, I waste time that I don't have and often can't easily find what I need. Again I mention the high levels of frustration me and many of my coworders have with Word. We had a hard time getting several staff members in my office to switch from word perfect to word. I click on the macro again and nothing happens, probably cos there is a space character. But the next click is 'fatal'. There is an error that the 'collection object'(not sure of exact term in English) can't be found and worse still, this seems to trigger Word to activate 'show masked text' in the whole table which I then have to untick manually.     - macro effect on browse control button I have created a macro that runs through the sections of a document and adds a footer to each page. A side effect has been that the "browse" control that is located just below the vertical scroll bar changes from "previous page / next page" to "previous section / next section". The first If expression cehcks the current page number against the n umber of pages within the current section of the document. If both If expressions are true, then the fild is supposed to display the document name, otherwise it should display nothing. However, starting with the second page it always return -1.
I think because the second page is not on the screen.
But how can I get around this?

Use GoTo or Select to get to the hyperlink first.
