In c#.net 2005, we use office interop to start different .doc files. What we want to do is: We need to check if the next given fullFileName is already open. If yes, we just bring it to front, rather than to open a duplicate one. Otherwise, open it using above code.     - UserForm field fill-in issue I have a combobox on a UserForm that I want to use to "push" data to the various fields. The problem I see is that no matter what I use- the AfterUpdate event or the OnChange event, the fields don't get filled until the enduser clicks on the form. How can I get the form to paint itself automatically without this user input?     - Retaining orientation and page numbers when inserting docs Hello, I am trying to insert a.doc into b.doc using InsertFile and to retain the page orientation in a.doc. I also have page numbering in a header in b.doc. If I just InsertFile I lose the orientation. If I insert a SectionBreakContinuous and then InsertFile I keep the orientation but my Page numbers restart from 1. Is there a way to keep the Orientation and not restart page numbering?     - Inserted picture not showing up in Word My mum wants to put a picture into a word document for her journal. She says that this has never been a problem before, but this time the picture is not showing up. Its just a huge blank box. However it's showing in 'Print Preview'.     - Sound Recorder OLE I have two solutions possible for a problem. Left clicking on a Sound Recorder OLE linked to a wav file results in the sound clip playing but no way to stop it. Annoying if the clip is long and just a "peek" is needed. If you right click you can chose Edit Sound Object and the Sound Recorder window opens, but you have to click on play to start it. 1) Can the default OLE verb be changed so "2" so the Recorder is opened rather than the sound just being played? Or is athere a command to stop the Playback available in VBA? or 2) Is there a VBA Method available (after opening the Soud Recorder with a macro) to start/stop the playback, i.e. manipulate the buttons on the Object programmatically? I'd like to start detaching templates from ordinary documents upon opening. I have a global macro file that gets saved in everyone's startup folder.     - Menu Bar Option disappears Using Office XP 2003 Created a template for use with our documents containing macros and numbering styles etc which I put on as Menu bar drop down options. Have also just upgraded to Workshare Professional 5.0. from Deltaview 2.9 Now, when you save a document which uses this template, the Menu bar option disappears.     - macro to remove password doesn't work Hi All, I recorded a macro in Word to remove a password in a word file but it doesn't work. The document has a password for editing, however when I open the doc it asks me to type the password. In the macro I open the Options Tab and remove the password then I close the options window and save the file. The password is then empty. However when I close the file and open it again I still have to type the password and when I look at the Option window again the password is back. Is this magic or what?     - Drop downs won't retain entry macros: Drop downs won't retain entry macros: I created a rather large template for our staff to use when filling in information about "xyz"... When they click the first parent drop down the corresponding information populates in the child drop down. Some what like a cascading drop down. My problem is the staff filled out all of the information for the first section of the year on "xyz". It is now the second section and time to reopen the "xyz" file and update the information. When they click the parent drop down that contains the populate vb macro to populate the child drop down the "run macro on entry" is empty. I can go in and choose what macro i want but i would have to do this with over 100 questions. Shouldn't word have retained the macros in the drop downs? every one of them are empty. Therefore when I click the first Parent drop down, the second one is blank unless i go in and select the macro that was originally in that field. I'd be happy to send a copy of the document to anyone that would be interested in giving me a hand...     - Resolution 922849 -- older version of word documents Our tech support downloaded the service pack onto one of my coworkers computers. She received the "this file was created in an earlier version of word... cannot be opened due to a registry policy setting" erro. After searching for help on this site I found the link for the resolution -- 922849. But I cannot find the DWORD value the form is reffering to. I found her file under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Security but there was no FileOpenBlock subkey. Could it be located elsewhere?     - Object variable or With block variable not set error in macro Ok usually I would just take my time and try to figure this out on my own but time is short and I willing admit I am way out of my league. I found the code on gmayor.com for splitting mail merges. The macro works to the extent that it will give the first record but then errors out with Object variable or With block variable not set. Now, I would like to have a second dropdown button that allows to select among 4 different values, but the issue is that those four values depends on the value previously selected in the button 1. OR can I trap for the Password Dialog that opens up when a passworded doc is opened and handle it myself via code?     - Another dreaded "loop through the document" question Using Word 2007. I promise that I have looked through the code here but my programming skills are rusty and VBA is NOT my "thing". I have a long (200+ page) document that begins life as an HTML file generated by a test bank program. I've written a long macro that does a lot of cleanup work using find/replace and it works great. However, I'm not quite satisfied with my results. This test bank doesn't get monkeyed with often so I don't care how slow or clunky the macro is and I don't care to spend hours and hours getting it perfect. The edited document contains between 450 and 500 questions, each in the format shown below. All paragraphs are in the Normal style (with no space above or below) except the question number (e.g, 13 of 465), which is in Normal (Web) (which has space before and after). Here's the code that I recorded. I just need to know what to put around it to make it run repeatedly until it gets to the end of the document. I'm sure this is a stupidly simple thing, but I'm having no luck. I understand the concept of loops, I just don't know what variable to check for to do this until the end of the document is reached.     - Losing references to template I have a macro-enabled template in 2007 (.dotm) with a user form, which is being used my multiple users and is saved in a shared network location. For some reason, whenever anyone has a document based on the template open on their desktops, if anyone else tries to base a document on the template, they get a "Field Review.dotm is locked for use by (Name of person using it)", then gives the option to open "Read Only". My understanding is that multiple users should be able to have documents that are based on the same template open without locking the template. Am I missing something or is this a Word 2007 bug? The Home and Student version does say "Non Commercial Use" on the Title bar.
As far as I know there is nothing you can do about this gentle reminder and
I have to say I doubt I would notice it myself.

As for the Ribbon, it's most likely got hidden - Ctrl+F1 should make it
visible. The only other possibility I can t hink of is that you are in full
screen view in which case pressing ESC should take you out of it.
