    - Tricky (?) headline/paragraph numbering problem Hi! I have a problem with numbering headings and following paragraphs that I wonder if it's possible to solve. a) I have a couple of headings like this: 1 Heading 1 bla bla 1.1 Heading 2 bla bla 1.1.1 Heading 3 bla bla 2 Heading 1 bla bla 2.1 Heading 2 bla bla 2.1.1 Heading 3 bla bla This works fine, no problem. b) Now I also want numbered paragraphs related to the headings like this: 1 Heading 1 bla bla 1.1 Paragrah 2 bla bla 1.1.1 Paragrah 3 bla bla This also works fine. c) The problem is though if I now insert another heading, it links to the previous paragraph instead of the heading. 1 Heading 1 bla bla 1.1 Paragrah 2 bla bla 1.1.1 Paragrah 3 bla bla 1.2 Heading 2 bla bla <------------Wrong! Should be 1.1 (ie related to the previous heading, not the previous paragraph). The paragraphs should be linked to the headings but not the opposite so to say.     - Finding Macrobutton and delete I have a table in a Word2000 document. In the table, I have multiple {macrobutton insertpicture} fields. After inserting the picture, the placeholder and text appear after the picture, taking up space and displaying the default text. How can I search the document and delete all instances of the macrobutton placeholders? I plan on running the procedure in a print procedure code module. Thank you very much.     - Saving embedded Visio objects as Visio files Our Word documents include Visio objects whose original files are now scattered. I need VBA to do the equivalent of double-clicking to open the object in Visio, saving as a file, and then returning to Word to find the next Visio object. I've been looking at examples of calling other apps, but I don't understand how to move between Word and Visio as I described. Any example code would be a big help.     - Using DateDiff in Formfields... Hey Gang, Word 2003 Trying to create an automated form for my church and am stumped as to how to do this. I have a calendar form (actually two of them) that populate formfields (StartDate and EndDate). I have another formfield (TotalDays) that I cm trying to populate with the number of days difference between the other two formfields. I assigned the following macro to the "Entry" of the TotalDays field. However, it is not working.     - Hitting Cancel Button on Input Box takes me to "GoTo Error MsgBox" instead of exiting the macro Dear Experts: I created a macro that allows the user to format the Table of Contents by using InputBoxes. The user can fill in a value into the dialog box "Please indicate the left indent in centimeters". The value he/she indicates is then transferred to the "With ... " line. I then want the the user to see the previously filled in value (in centimeters) whenever he re-runs the macro. It works fine with the following macro lines (only part of the whole macro) but as soon as I hit the Cancel Button on the InputBox form it does not exit the sub but takes me to the Error Message on the bottom. How do I have to rewrite the code that - when the user hits the Cancel Button on the inputbox form - the macro is exited?     - Setting different character styles on one line of text I have to put a line of text in a footer which has three different character styles with three different sets of text. They all work on their own, but each one cancels out the one previous to it because I do not know how to set the styles & text properly so if I run the code all I am left with is the third style and text.     - shortcut Hello, I have a perplexing problem. First a little background. I created a folder named 'MoJR Documents'. This folder is located on a secondary drive(D:\MoJR Documents) apart from Word. I have a folder named 'My Documents' under C:\Documents and Settings\MoJR\My Documents. I decided to leave this folder in it's original location figuring I may use it as an extra folder at some point. Currently, it has one document in it. I created a shortcut to the 'D:\MoJR Documents' folder and placed it on the taksbar. However, when I open this folder using the shortcut created for it, the address window in Windows Explorer indicates 'My Documents'. This may not be a problem, I'm not sure. However, it may be causing a problem when I try to write a script to use a hotkey combo to open a specific document in the 'D:\MoJR Documents' folder. Why would there be a discrepancy between the shortcut and the folder listed in the address window of Win Explorer? How can I correct this problem?     - Getting the REF number from a SEQ field For a cross-reference to a SEQ field (such as the one on a figure caption) a REF field includes a long number, looking like this: { REF_Ref4018934786 \h } But the SEQ field that this points to doesn't display that number.     - Range Oddity I wonder why you can add a formfield to a range set to a table cell range, but you can't add a field to range set to a table cell range.     - Print multipage doc on "other" printer I have finally gotten my doc to print where and how I need it. Essentially, I needed it to not go to the default printer, save a copy as doc file by unique name, copy to clipboard and a few other things I needed. What I can't get is how to tell it if doc is = or less than 1 page, go to "printer a" else go to "printer b" I was going to paste all the defective code here but it takes up space and doesn't work.     - Form question i have a form that includes multiple sections. sections can have checkboxes and/or dropdown fields. i want to allow the user to go thru the sections and check boxes pick from drop downs. once they are done i want them to have a toolbar button that will "hide" any unchecked boxes and any unselected drop down boxes. I don't want to delete the unchecked/unselected boxes since the user will reuse the document in the future.     - VBE Auto List Members I just noticed something odd with the VBE Auto List Members feature You can type the line: ActiveDocument.Fields.Add Selection.Range, 'and no list appears of the various wdFieldTypes however, if you type the line: ActiveDocument.FormFields.Add Selection.Range 'then the complete list appears. It is odd that the feature is absent where it would be most handy, and present when selecting over 95% of the items listed would result in a RTE "Subscript out of range."     - Inserting a wdFieldFormTextInput into a word table cell I'm having issues inserting a wdFieldFormTextInput into a word table cell. I create the table with a macro which works perfectly. I then need to insert a wdFieldFormTextInput into the first rows 2nd cell. I can set the text easily enough using ..............     - Adding Hyperlink Text, then deleting Hello, So, I have a big macro in Word 2003 that I've been working on that keeps growing. The end goal is to have a complete script to convert a Word document into a wiki formatted document (for posting on our internal wiki). I've got most of it down, but hitting a snag with changing hyperlinks into wiki formatted text. First, I need to find the hyperlinks, then I need to add wiki formatting in front of them and after them, then delete the hyperlink itself. To add to the issue, a significant number of my hyperlinks are tied to shapes so when I delete all hyperlinks - it removes them completely, leaving the shape but no address. Can you please help?     - Edit Keylog File Hi everyone. A keylogger I have spits out a file that is very difficult to read! My daughter makes a ot of mistakes typing, so there are a lot of backspaces! Unfortunately, the keylogger records a backspace as [Backspace].     - formatting table cells with WordArt I'm trying to create a sheet of labels to use on book spines. Each label will contain one letter formatted and colored with WordArt and centered on the label (first letter of author's last name). I've managed to create a sheet of labels containing the one letter centered in each label, but I can't seem to figure out how to automate changing the letters to WordArt, although I can do it manually. I was attempting to loop through each cell (standard Avery label layout), select the text and change to WordArt, and then change the color of the text. I did manage to do it once, but the WordArt all ended up in the middle of the document. Can anyone tell me how to loop through, select the text in each cell and change it to WordArt in the same spot? Recording the macro gives me the middle of the document as anchor points - I can't figure out what the anchor points would be for each label. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!     - Application.version numbers for Word I'm trying to branch some code based on Aplication.Version numbers; I know that 2007 is version 12, and Word 2003 , but I don't know the other version numbers, and haven't been able to find them. I have some experience with VB for Excel, so most of the concepts ring a bell or two, but the Word object model escapes me and I'm still trying to get my head around it. I have 3 years worth of occurrence logs that I need to search for a specific string. The logs consist of a single table with some consistent entries. Unfortunately this string appears in all logs in one of those entries which I describe as a "heading area". I need to find it in the "narrative" section, not one of the heading areas. The logs are organised in Year Folders, with Month folders inside. The log names are the date for each daily log. I'm trying to perform the following tasks: 1. Use dialog to obtain enclosing folder for all documents - done. 2. Iterate through all subfolders to find log documents - done. 3. Search through each log in turn and search for one of the consistant headings, then commence searching from the next line down for the target word. If found, then store filename in base docuement and ... 4. Stop at end of document, and got to next one - done. Courtesy of the Word MVP pages, and this group's archives, I think I've got 1, 2 & 4 working OK. However 3 is giving me a few problems. I'm getting false hits, and missing occurrences of the target. Ergo, I've got something out of whack. I hope that someone here may be able to point me in the right direction. However, those links with "(Visual Basic for Applications)" at the end of the help-page name do not work when I click on them. (Example: "Character Set (0-127) (Visual Basic for Applications)".) I have lurked for a long time, dependent on the Q&A of others. Today I have spent 12 hours reviewing and steeling snippets from all over the web. I have my table set up to add a row at the end of my table on my protected form, and to add a text form field to 5 of the 7 cells, and also add & populate 2 separate dropdown lists. advertisements and every month I need to erase 500-600 of them. I do it
manually by "find/change" their signatutes (every ad has its unique
signature) and it takes me 3 hours to do so. Veery boooooooring! Maybe
there is a way to automate it?
