    - organizing a large macro I'm writing a numbering suite for Word 2003. When testing my first try, users found bugs and want more features. When I was writing it, i found myself creating word tables documenting arrays, lists of variables and code snippets. Now that I have to go back into the macro, I realize that the hardest part is keeping my thinking organized. Does anybody know an easy way to document and organize this stuff? I've looked at UML but it seems like the learning curve is pretty steep and most programs that use UML are not made for VBA. thanks, Liz Tag: macro security Tag: 82233

    - Can I create a macro to find more than one possible date and change to current date? I've been reading through these Word groups for a couple months now, and I've found plenty of information and answers to my problems - up until now. I've spent a fair amount of time trying to find a solution to this, but I've been coming up with nothing so far, which I find somewhat embarrassing, as I've this seems like it should be rather simple. I update forms all the time - all of which have a version date in the footer of (mm/yy). I already have a basic macro that will open up the footers, change the date, move to the next footer, repeat until necessary, and then close the footer view. The problem is that I have to constantly edit the macro so the dates are what I need. If I open up a document with a (02/06) date, and my macro is set up to find (01/06), I need to edit the macro. I simply want a macro that will search and replace more possibilities at once. Whether the form has a (01/06) date or a (02/06) date, I want to change it to (03/06). I'd be happy opening up the code once month and changing that (03/06) to whatever date it is at the time. The "On Error Resume Next" is in there because sometimes the document will be fewer pages than the instances of the "ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.NextHeaderFooter" command.     - Word Macro doesn't seem to be executing any API function calls I am working with a Word Macro. In the macro there are calls to GetTempPathA API function. A client has XP and Word 2000 and the return value of this call is 0 with no dll error number. So far this is the only client that has this problem.     - Have 2000 and XP versions on same machine? My dreaded IT upgrade is looming close to hand! They'll take my poor machine away, wipe it, and install the new and "improved" image. It will immediately take me into the XP versions of Windows, Word, and Excel. I'm concerned about making macros for others who still have the 2000 versions of Word and Excel. I know it's possible to have both versions on the same machine, and I can probably twist an arm to get this done. This is a relatively long post on the theory that too much information and detail up front is better than too little. I'm using Word 2003 on Windows XP. Problem I'm trying to resolve: automatically unselect the "Automatically update document styles" on the Tools/Templates and Add-Ins... dialog whenever someone uses the dialog to refresh a document's styles from its attached template. I've been following the steps detailed in the MVP article at http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/UpdateStyles.htm with partial success but am encountering some frustrating issues.     - VBA-code cached? Hi I have recently been developing in two separate VBA-projects, one in Word 2000 and the other in Word 2003. Suddenly, in the testing-fase, one user seems to be running old code. In one example I made a small but significant change in the code and saved the template over the old one. When the user starts the test, the old code seems to be running. I have now seen this behaviour with two separate customers, and also in the two separate word-versions I mentioned above.     - Is it possible to change the position of an InlineShape? I'm working with many InlineShapes and need to move them around the document. Getting the Range they're anchored to and changing it (e.g. modifying "Start" and "End" properties) doesn't seem to have any effect. I can, in the Word document, cut and paste an InlineShape (thus moving it). However, you have to select, in addition to the InlineShape, a character before it or after it for the selection to "appear" and for you to be able to cut it. If I access the Range of the InlineShape programmatically and try and select it or cut it, nothing happens. If I grow the range by a character, I _can_ select that, and then cut it. A hack way of moving the InlineShape is to insert some whitespace before or after the InlineShape, select it, cut it, and delete the whitespace on pasting. Is there a less circuitous way of moving the InlineShape around in the document?     - Problems with Template I am trying to take a form (which has been saved as a template and uses checkboxes and textboxes from the forms toolbar) and put it in a folder on our Network so different users can access the form. I would prefer that if one user is in the form, it will not allow other users to make changes until the form is saved and closed. The form has various MAIN group headers with a checkbox and my programming allows the user to check this main group header and it will check everything under that group (I did this with Macro's). When I email the form to other users for testing, it opens it with the title Document1 and will not execute the code (The template is saved as ProjectTemplate and I have a document that is saved as ProjectDocument). I need to know how I can put this form in a network folder so that when myself or any user opens it, it will have the changes made from the previous user. Do I need to put the template and the document in the folder? Any help is greatly appreciated. Another side note, when I open the template or the document, it asks me if I want to enable macros and I click yes. Also, I am on an XP operating system with a newer version of Word and some of the other people I have emailed the document to for testing are still on '98 machines. Could this be part of the problem? I want to insert graphs from the clipboard into a word document at all the positions where '[[Graph]]' is written. The document contains tables and has a layout with two text columns. At some positions in the document, a strange thing happens when I try to paste the graph there: I can see only the lower fourth of the picture when I format it "in line with text", but if I switch to the format "before text", than the whole graph is visible.     - Adding complex cross-reference Hi, in my documents I need to add quite a lot of cross-references. They also need to be of the type which will say " 3.4.13 How to kill a hamster, p. 49". Currently the only way for me to do this is to use my keyboard shortcut to bring up the corss reference window, select the paragraph and then use the dropdown menu 3 times to add the correct reference fields. This is very manual process, but I have not been able to automate it any more. I would think that this would be a standard requirement when writing long and complex documents.     - Call an addin command from a macro? I have a commercial addin that creates bibliographies (Thomson's EndNote). It loads a .WLL and adds a group of commands under Tools. It has a .DOT file that provides a toolbar with the same commands. Can I call one of these commands from a macro? I tried selecting the command while recording a macro, but nothing gets recorded.     - Converting word doc with macro to html I have a word doc that has a series of tasks and then a check box after each question for the user to 'check' when they have performed the task. At the top of the page is a button with a macro attached that simply 'unchecks' all the checkboxes when pressed. What I would like to do is to take a specifc row of this nested table, and copy that row into column 10. My problem is I can't get the code right to refer to a specific row within this nested table. Set macro security to trust installed templates and add-ins and set your
macro security level to medium.
