    - Reset to default printer I have a user that occasionally needs to send a print job somewhere other than the default printer. At that point Word remembers his last used printer but he does not and he ends up "losing" his print jobs by sending them to the wrong printer. Is there any way to force Word to always select the default printer when the Print dialog is open, even if the last print job went to a different printer? I'm hoping that there is a Print event that can be triggered with every print request to reset the selected printer to the default.     - Text Entry in Forms, Variables I am constructing forms in Word 2007 where I want to have the same functionality as is present in WordPerfect's variables. In WordPerfect, I create a variable in a form (for example, a variable for the name of a building, and I insert that variable in 12 different locations in the document. If I want to change the building name, I double click on any of the 12 occurrences of the variable, and the change is reflected in all 12 locations. I assumed Word 2007 has similar functionality, but I can't really find it, at least "out of the box". I am using the content controls with some coding to automate the updating of all similarly named controls, but I am having problems with that method. Am I missing something? Is there something in word that allows m, without writing code, to get more or less the same functionality as is present in WordPerfect's variables? I am trying to transition from WordPerfect to Word, and am creating Word versions of my WordPerfect forms. Thanks very much. At present the user has to manually click in the second field and select from a list. In my case my list only needs to contain one choice. Eg.     - Macro to fix control click for a sentence Is there a way to create a macro using a simple keyboard shortcut that will only select one sentence quickly like control click does normally? Control+click has a serious flaw for use in a manuscript with a lot of endnotes at the end of sentences. It always selects not only the sentence clicked on, but also the previous endnote on the previous sentence. Is there a way to make it only selected the sentence at hand and not the previous endnote, with a keyboard macro. I use this control+click a lot on large mss with lots of endnotes.     - Trying to move label control using VBA I have a Word 2003 document that allows users to select a location from a drop-down list to pre-populate the letterhead with the correct address. The letter is used for several companies within our organization. After making the selection from the drop-down list, the company name gets loaded into one label control with bold formatting, and the address gets loaded into a second label control directly below the company name. Some of the international addresses have more lines in them than the domestic addresses, and I want the last line to line up with a graphic on the letterhead. Since the company names and addresses are in two separate label controls, bottom-alignment causes blank spaces under the company name. It appears that my best solution is to determine how much vertical space the address will require, then move the label controls accordingly so the bottom lines up with the graphic. I attempted to combine the label controls, but it appears I cannot use multiple formats within the same control (which would also solve my problem). I found some information for programmatically placing shapes in Word, but I have not been able to use the code for the label control. Does anyone have sample code to place the label control relative to the top of the page? For what it's worth, the document must remain backward compatible with Word 2000. Thanks in advance!     - Disable VBA Hi, I have a bunch of documents that use all sorts of macro code to format and control the document. The documents are all based on a template and the code is located in the template. I want to add a "publish" function that will prepare the document for sending out to customers (update a few fields, set document protection etc). At the completion of the publish function, I want it to either disable or remove the macros from the published instance document. This is important, because we don't want to expose the macros and other bits and pieces to our customers (or even to have the warning dialogue pop-up). Is this possible? The second piece that would be wonderful is to add the ability to reactivate the code from the original template, to allow us to manage and update the document. I've had a look around the forums and seem to get anything to work. This will eventually become part of a larger script that will batch convert bunch of Word docs to PDF (opening each one, running another Macro, saving to PDF, closing the Word doc and then moving on to the next). The fields and bookmarks are already defined in the document. It's important that the fields be inserted in the bookmark, rather than just the value. I want it to create a new document and do a mailmerge automatically. Turning protection on in a word template allows several things, protecting
the contents and allows form fields to exist.

Is there a way, either a field itself or macro code, to block all but a
specific user from entering information into a field. Can an entry, password
macro be written which would allow this to happen?

It's easy enough in Excel to block or allow entry into a cell, but not
obvious, if at all possible in Word tables. Can someone illustrate some
possibilities?

It cannot be done with Word tables. However if you want to replicate the
Excel behaviour, insert an Excel spreadsheet into the document rather than
use a Word table.

I think however you should really think a bit more about how the template
should be used. Are their other fields into which users other than the one
user must enter data? In what order do the other users and the one user get
to have their go at the template.
