    - Move cursor to the end of a line, insert text, loop through each r MS Office 2003 Hi All I am putting together a macro and I am really stuck on how to get the cursor to move to the end of a line in Word. I have set the cursor to go to the begining of line 1 and enter some text ie. Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToLine, Which:=wdGoToFirst, Count:=1, Name:="" Selection.Find.ClearFormatting Selection.TypeText Text:="myArray = Array(" I now need to go to the end of line 1 and then insert some text and then move down a line and continue to insert the text ie Selection.TypeText Text:=", _" Selection.MoveDown Unit:=wdLine, Count:=1 The MoveRight ie Selection.MoveRight Unit:=wdWord, Count:=30, Extend:=wdExtend I have tried but length of the line may vary and the code would fail. Any help with a loop that finds the end of line 1, enters text and then moves 1 line down and inserts the text until the last line is reached is what I am hopeing to achieve.     - global templates Hi, I created a new glaobal template called main.dot. The problem is that although I have deleted the previous main.dot, it will not let me asve this one as a global template. I had to delete the previous one, as it would not let me do any updates to it. In addition I have already installed a new release of Office 2003, as the other one would not enable macros.     - Running 'watermark' macro deletes all header text I am using the macro recorder to figure out how to automatically insert a gif as a watermark. It's easy to do manually but when the resulting macro is run, it always deletes the table and contained text that I need in the header? That does not happen when I create the macro.     - Add/Copy a set of fields & assign field names/bookmarks Hi all, I have a template that has several user form fields. One "set" of these fill in fields represents a group of related fields. I want the user to be able to add/copy the group multiple times if needed. Each of the fields throughout the template has their own name/bookmark. These fields will eventually be exported to a comma delimited .txt file and imported into Access. I'm trying to write a macro that will not only add or copy the fields and labels, but also name the bookmarks in a sequential order. This will allow multiple groups and maintain individuality for the Access database. I have seen several different ideas such as a table type format and the corresponding code to copy rows etc. I'm not sure I like the table idea, but am willing to go that direction if needed. Here is what the group of fields look like in the template. The fields follow these lables. Observation 1: Discussion: Recommendation: Action for Compliance: 0 Recommended Compliance Date: If I could get an example of how to add/copy a field and label and also assign a name/bookmark, I could replicate the code accordingly.     - If statement on an option group I am just starting to learn VBA and am not sure how to do if statements on option groups if someone can help me. I tried a number of different things but nothing happens. I have a User Form with two option groups.     - Word temporary scratch file limit Hello, I have a WORD XP COM Addin that is used to generate reports. During the generation of a report, the COM Addin does a lot of things; a huge number of times. The things that it does are changing the selection, inserting of text, deletion of text, inserting table rows, copy and paste, ... All of these operations are done within a single document(report). The COM Addin is written in C++ and it uses the WORD object library to manipulate the document(report). During the generation of the report the COM Addin crashes when the temporary scratch file (~WRSxxxx.tmp") reaches the 512 MB limit. The temporary scratch file is a hard disk cache used by WORD when it runs out of RAM memory. The _com_error exception that is caught, when the crash occurs is "This command is not available". The exception occurs when one of the WORD object library function is called. The _com_error help context is 37373 and the help file is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\wdmain10.chm. I looked at the help context in the help file and it does not seem to give any relevant information. When I increase the cachesize of WordXP from 64KB to 1MB, the crash occurs at a different point, of course, due to a call to Word object library function. I believe this is a memory constraint associated with the temporary scratch file. Somewhere in the WEB, I saw the limits of temporary scratch file and it ranges from 64KB to 3.5MB. The same report generation works fine with WORD 2003 and maximum size of scratch temporary file reached in this case is 3.5 MB. While generating the report in WORDXP, when I reduce the number of COPY and PASTEs the crash occurs a bit later. Initially, I thought it is a problem with parameters that are passed to Word object library functions. But, that is not the case since generation goes beyond the crash point when the COPY and PASTE operations is cut down to a slightly lower number. My doubts are why does WORDXP temporary scratch file limit exceeds 3.5 MB (size goes upto 512MB)? Can we increase the size of WORDXP temporary scratch file above 512 MB)?     - Limit bullet and numbering choices Hi, I'm working on a template that is to be used to create a standard word document report customised for the use of our company. When it comes to bullet and numbering, my question is whether there are any ways of limiting the choices here. This is to prevent different users from selecting different bullet points in report making process.     - How to break textlinks to Excel in WORD2000 by a macro or VBA? I made a WORD 2000 template in which there are a few textfields that get there information in cells of an excel file. Once the data is in the WORD doc, this doc should live is own life without the Excel file. In a manual way this is easy to perform: select all, edit, links, break link. When I record these operations, the macro does not register these operations. Neither does it in a template or a simple .doc file. Does anyone know a solution? An appropriate VBA code is also OK! Ideally, I would like to extract this information and have it go directly into a new document (in a table preferably). The table would look something like the following.     - Passing Arrays ByVal or ByRef? As a habit, I normally pass variables to functions "ByVal." But I was wondering if it was faster/better to pass an array "ByRef" even if one wasn't planning to modify its contents? Doesn't "ByVal" create a new array of the same size?     - Userform to Doc to Access Hi, First let me tell you I really appreciate Doug, Jean-Guy and all the other MVPs. You've already made my life much easier. Now I have a question. I have a Word Template that has text boxes, check boxes and option buttons. The file is sent via email to hundreds of users. [Should they receive this as a Template or a Document?] When the user finishes filling out the user forms, they run a macro that transfers the data to {DOCVARIABLE} fields in Word Template. The user prints the document, saves it and emails it back. I thought I could also save it as a "Fields" text document to get the answers, but the {DOCVARIABLE} fields don't save.     - Prevent changes to a document I have a document that serves as a template, and I don't want users to be able to change it. I thought about having a "Save As" dialog box appear upon opening.     - Change Names I can't change the name...it's ambiguous. I have a user form with an option group called frmBalTrackAggEmbed1. It has two options that are called optBalTrackAgg1 and optBalTrackEmbed1. Originally these existed without the 1 behind them but were accidentally deleted. They were then recreated but I couldn't use the same name again because it was ambiguous so the 1 had to be added to the end of each name.     - digital signature disappears I wrote soome real basic code to automatically sign using a users digital signature. When you click a button on the document, it asks for initials, then asks you to select a certificate, then saves the signed file to the desktop. This works well with most users, but I have a user that keeps dropping the signature from the document when they e-mail it. Are there any known compatiblilty issues between 2007 and 2003?     - My first GLOBAL TEMPLATE I have created my first global template, allowing me to remove about 400 autotext entries from each user's normal.dot and moving these into a group template named "groupautotext.dot". The "groupautotext.dot" has now been copied into a MSWORD startup folder. Tested this on a few secretary pc's last night, all looked good......until this morning, Friday the 13th, MSWORD is crashing all over the place for these pc's. Each secretary that I've done this for cannot complete a document before the dreaded crash. My questions: 1)I created a folder "MSWORDstartup" off of the "C" drive, copied "groupautotext.dot" into this folder, changed the startup location to point to the path "C:\MSWORDstartup". Could it be because I have changed the default startup location?? 2)This is the first time I've worked with global templates, is this behavior to be expected?? I had to take the global template out of the startup to allow the secretaries to continue to work. I really don't want to give up on the "global" template idea, it really would work for what I am trying to accomplish, although with the behavior that I am seeing with this, the global at this point, could not work for me.     - Macro to increment field by one- suggestions? Greetings, I'm working on a large document (with many section breaks), and I would like to have a field in the footer which is "Revision Number". I don't want to use Word's RevNum field because that increments each time a user saves the document. (I don't want to increment the field just because I'm fixing a typo.) This isn't supposed to be an iron-clad system, but I just want a way that, after I've made significant changes to my document, I can click a toolbar macro, increment the value by one, and have a message box tell me "Revision Number increased to XYZ". Ideally, I could also keep the field editable, so I could just type in "001" whenever I wanted to start the numbering over (for whatever reason). Any ideas or resources? The problem is there may be more than two accounts for that day. What I want to avoid is having to open a new instance of the template for each two accounts.
