    - Building a date field on a form I would like to make a form field that holds a date. I would like the format to be mm/dd/yyyy. When you tab into the field, I would like a response box to ask "today" yes or no. If the answer is yes, I would like the field filled with today?s date in the format above. If no, I would like a calendar to appear and the date can be chosen form the calendar. The chosen date will go in the field in the format above. once filed in, the macro will tab to the next field and exit. Can anybody help with any of this or am I hoping for to much?     - Wizard for Documentation that works with ReqPro. I am a technical writer supporting around 20 software engineers, each of whom write their own series of tests. How can I write a wizard that will assist them in laying out their documentation in a standard fashion? Having a template, alone, did not seem to do the job.     - Append Documents I am trying to appending word documents that are in memory, that are not on the file system. I have seen the examples of appending multiple files that reside on the file system, but that is not what I am trying to do. I will receive a collection of word files and I need to append them together into a master document without having to write each one to the file system. The other issue that I will have is that each document will have different headers and footers. Can this been doen without too much hassel?     - Creating a table from an Access Query How can I go about creating a table in a Word Document at a specific place from a query. The number of rows will vary based on how many records were input that matches that specific queries criteria. I would imagine the bookmark in Word would come into play in the Word document, but I have been unsuccessful in creating separate rows in the table. The columns would not change.     - Iterating Through Checkboxes Hello, I have a Word doc with many textboxes and checkboxes that are part of the fields collection. I'm having trouble with getting the value from the checkboxes. The result property doesn't contain the value and I've tried other ways of getting it, like referencing the associated formfield object using the bookmarkid on the checkbox field. Two types of sample code is below. Niether is correct because when iterating through the fields collection, both lines of code will reference text boxes. I've tested this by using the .select method so I could see which objects are being selected.     - Transferring Bookmark Contents Between Files I have a Form Template that I distribute for use by our sales force. They complete the form and return, but also keep a copy for future use when creating documents for the same customer. The template allows them to open a document and re-use the content. The problem comes when the template is updated and new fields (and bookmarks) are added. The "old" forms become useless unless I can get the contents of the bookmarks from the "old" docs to a new doc created from the updated template. I am limited to using Word 2003 VBA.     - Bookmark with overwrite function? Hi all, I've an Access db that writes to a Word document using bookmarks. I have the template lined up just the way I want it; when the db writes info to the template, the lines become offset by the difference in text length between the bookmark and the data replacing the bookmark. For example, if "McCracken" replaces "Last", the rest of the line is adjusted 5 places to the right for the extra characters in "McCracken". If at all possible, I'd very much like to have the system account for the extra spaces and delete them during the process. I was playing around with Word.Options.AutoFormatAsYouTypeInsertOvers and Word.Options.Overwrite, but couldn't get them to work. Are one of these the way to go? Or do I have to programmatically use the Len() function to calcuate the difference in the text strings and then add/delete spaces? If so, how exactly would that look? I am creating a form that uses the same information multiple times throughout the lengthy form, such as customer information, phone, etc. I have set it up so this information is repeated when needed by entering REF fields {REF Text1} for the text. One of the items that is required throughout the form is the "program' for which they are enrolled and I have inserted check boxs next to the first mention of the program choices and I would like this information to be repeated throughout the document. However, I tried to repeat it the same way as the text {REF Check1}, but when I test this application, nothing shows up in the cell. Make sense? Mailto actions for the Submit button won't work, because the target users don't have Outlook, and from testing, it looks like it simply brings up a blank email without the selected information anyway.     - How to create pie chart from linked CSV file in Word? Hi, I am trying to create a Word document which should contain a couple of charts (pie, bars, etc.). The source for the charts´ data should be a couple of csv files I have on harddisk. I would like to "link" the csv file to the Word document (or the chart) so I don´t have to do a manual import. Instead the charts should show the data from the current file every time the Word document is opened. So far I have tried to do this with a combination of Excel and Word which does not work for me. Basically the problems are as follows: - when I create the chart in Word only, I can not link it to the CSV file/s - when I create multiple charts in one Excel file, I can use a small VBA script to automatically read the CSV files and adjust the graphs (each char on a differen sheet). Unfortunately I have not found a way to link specific sheets in Excel to specific objects in the Word document so this won´t work either. Anyone have any idea how to do this? Thanks in advance!     - PDF tool needed I know there are many tools that let you "print" a Word document to a PDF file (for example, CutePDF). The problem is that all these tools that I have seen require user input to specify the output file name and possibly output options as well. THis makes it impossible to completely automate the process from VBA code. Does anyone know of a PDF "printer" that can operate with no user input, completely under VBA control?     - Find text with different font. Hi, I have a word document containg text with diffrent font. I need divide that document into blocks, where each block will have the same font. In other words, when the font is changed then new block should begin. I can do that by getting font of each character, and when font is diffreent, then just make a new block.     - Extract data from word to access? Hello, I am going to recieve about 250 word docs for a land survey project that are all the same format. The document will have 4 main sections, and then inside those, there will be details which will need to be captured (or harvested) and then saved as delimited text (or whatever will work best) for insertion into an access database. The problem is that most (80%) of the word doc is not formatted into any kind of tabular structure, at least from what I can tell. (As a side note - is there a way to check using something like reveal codes, as was in WP)? The only thing in common that each doc file has is that each file has the same keywords preceding the desired data value. MY QUESTION: Is there a way to have a VBA routine go through, and identify (which would be embedded in the VBA routine) keywords, and then based on that keyword, trigger a "copy" to action? There is always a consistent keyword preceding the desired data value. For example, here is a typical sentance (with the desired data value in {}, and the keyword in caps: EXAMPLE 1) That certain tract of land CONTAINING {105.899}acres, more or less... EXAMPLE 2) or another example in tabular format, separated by tabs (but shown here with commas and no separation); 1st line: *Surface,Mineral,Net 2nd line: Owner,*Interest,Interest,Mineral Acres 3rd line: John H. Smith,100%,50%,52.9495 * TO CLARIFY: The words Surface and Interest go together (like Surface Interest), just one on top of each other. Same for the words Mineral and Interest, as well as Net and Mineral Acres. In sum, I just want to know what are the ways that you can go into an existing word doc and extract the data that you need, that's all. I want to have the document set up so that when I type a name or word in place in side the document/letter, that name will be instantaneously entered or equaled somewhere else in the document in place that I specify. Sort like in Excel, where I can have one cell equal another cell. Whatever I type in one cell, after I press the enter key or click outside the cell, the cell that is equal to it, automatically updates with the information. I need to take that query result and then mail merge it with a word document. Does anyone know how to do this to help me out? Is this even possible?     - mailmerge word 2003 I have an application (vfp) with a lot of letters being produced in Word using mail merge. The application works great for all versions of Word 97-2002 without Word being visible or any action by the user. Tried to run the same routine on Word 2003 and it brings up a prompt dialog wanting to know the name of the merged file. Once they name the file it runs fine.     - Can I make a template like this? We are using a very old DOS-based input program. The narrative portion of the input form is very user-unfriendly, so most operators create their narratives in Word, then paste into the input program. Unfortunately, most Normal templates default to either Arial or Times New Roman, which are proportional-spaced fonts, and the input program uses a mono-spaced font (similar to Courier). It also does not recognize tabs or tables. The operators create these nice-looking charts and tables in Word using spaces and tabs - and they get all screwed up when they're pasted in. The QA operators then have to spend much time reformatting everything. I was thinking of trying to create a Word template for the operators that would reject any font except Courier, and reject all tabs. Is this possible?     - compare and highlight differences Okay, I have two tables of contents in two separate files. A few of the entries in them may be repeats. I need to, from one of the files, run a macro that will look through every entry of that file's TOC, then compare each to the TOC of the other file (preference would be a dialogue way to point to the other file to use, but could also type into a dialogue, and worst case, can go into the macro and type in the path for each use...but would prefer to avoid having to go into macros, as others might be asked to use this who are less proficient), and finally highlight on the original file any that are found in the other file. Words takes 30 or more seconds to open. First it gives a "Document in use
Dialogue Box" "the Preparing to Install" and it seems to be searching and
will eventually open, sometimes after a minute!! It ismost frustrating. Copy
& Paste used to give me the same message, however, Tech Support fixed that.
But this they cannot fix. It is making me crazy. HELP HELP

Don't use templates from a network location. Have support write a
simple line into your login script that uses XCOPY to copy the updated
templates to your local disk.
