MS Word question

The residental inspector that I used did his reports in Word and had a
feature that would automatically type a sentence based on a few typed
keywords. Ex. " good shingle roof" would automatically insert a sentence
like "The roof is composition shingle and is in good condition with no
visible defects." Can someone tell me how to create this?

1. Add the standard sentences as AutoText entries: type the full sentence.
Select, then go to Insert > AutoText and add it.

2. On the AutoText dialog, check the 'Show AutoComplete suggestions'
checkbox. This tells word to suggest an autotext entry based on the first
few characters you type.

This method works only if Word gets a unique match within the first five(?)
characters. So it won't auto suggest if you had both "The roof is
composition ..." and "The roof is not composition ..." You can still use
these autotext entries, but not with auto insertion.

Another method is to use AutoCorrect: eg you could tell word to 'correct'
"GSR" (whenever you type it as a word) to "The roof is composition shingle
and is in good condition with no visible defects."

You can also put autotext entries directly on a menu or toolbar, which might
be easier if you have large numbers of them. (Easier than trying to remember
large numbers of autocorrect mnemonics.

There is a new update I have just been doing R&D testing for. It allows
multiple selections and also works in 2007.
