    - Adding entries to 2007 QAT Hoping that VBAwould record my steps, I added one of my macros to an icon that would sit in the 2007 Quick Access Toolbar. I got the icon in place, but none of my steps were recorded. Does anyone know the VBA code (in general) that will allow me to add different macros to the QAT?     - Word Macro Processor Bug? I am writing in regard to what appears to me to be a bug in the macro processor for Word... though it may be that I am doing something wrong. The trouble is that whenever the macro runs, the "2.5" is interpreted as "2". I tried all means to get the ".5" into the macro without success. I encountered this bug in Word 2003, and now in Word 2007. I would really appreciate if someone could suggest a solution to the problem.     - select information to print in template I am trying to determine if this is possible in Word 2000 and if so, figure out which tool would best support this type of automation. Basically I am trying to create a word template that can be used as a form letter where the user would select particular verbiage depending on the terms of the transaction. The letter starts and ends in basic paragraph format but the body is separated into sections. For example: Dear Joe Schmoe, We are pleased to offer you the following. Line: $<<Insert field>> Term: << field>> months End of Term Options: ??This is where I am lost?? Additional Conditions: ???Another spot like above??? There are many variable End of Term Options/Additional Conditions etc. The users would like to select just one option (which can be almost a paragraph long in some cases) and insert it into this proper space for printing as if it had been typed. I have been looking at using Forms drop-downs, Pop-up lists and Active X controls but seem to be going in circles.     - Problems with Command Button with VBA code Hello, I created a form in Word. It is saved as a read-only template and it's protected so that users can only change the form fields. There is a command button called "E-Mail Document" that users can click and the document is e-mailed to a specific address. The form is meant to be used over and over again. I've tested the form repeatedly and the control button always works. However, my users are reporting that it is not working. When I go into the forms they are sending back, the VBA code is gone. How is this happening?? My code is below.     - Fill combo boxes from Access tables I have a Word template (dot) with a UserForm that opens and has several combo boxes for the user to make selections. It then uses these selections to build a letter. I've also created an Access database with tables and fields to populate the various combo boxes on the UserForm in Word. I've managed to figure out how to do this with 1 combo box (cboHOName) on the form and 1 table/field from Access but now want to populate the other combo boxes as well from the other tables inside the same Access database. For example in tblOffices I have an Address1 and Address2 field with corresponding combo boxes (cboAddress1 & cboAddress2) on the Word UserForm and tblTitles with the EETitle field and combo box cboEETitle. I'm just not sure how to modify my code to incorporate these as well. Here's what I have, please help!     - Encoding I am trying to learn about encoding, and have read a lot about it. However, what I can't find much on is some very practical issues that would explain a lot (at least to me). I figured that the programmers' forum would be the place to ask this simple question. It may seem naive, but I do not think it is. I have Word 2000 (Office 2000). When I open a new document, what is it that determines the encoding of that document? And, a follow-up. I can open rtf files with a text editor and see the encoding (or code page, a term I understand some people do not like). But how do I see the same for a .doc file?     - Medical Form I am creating a form in Word and would like to have two fields First one Provider Type Second one Specialty.... The only problem is that I would like the Second one to filter down to options that are available by the choice selected in the first one. Basically if you choose Physician in the first drop down menu I would like it to only supply the Specialties for the Physicians... meaning it would take out Hospital or Ambulatory and leave Pediatrics or Internal Med.     - How do you disable updating of links through VBA Hi, I am working on an app which (among other things) is resonsible for making a PDF of Word docs. That PDF part is fine. The problem is, the Word docs often contains OLE links for which the source is not available. When my print routine opens these docs, the links are converted to "Error! Not a valid link." in the same way that happens when I choose 'Update Links' when opening a Word doc that contains missing links, through Word. My printing routine is very simple. I just call Open(), PutActivePrinter() amd PrintOut(). My question is: is there any way to open a word doc in VBA and force Word to explicitly not update links? Thx in advance. Once the copy is finished, I need Word to go through a table and delete all rows where the font is formatted white. Below is the code.     - Stepping thru protected table cells I have a table which contains rows with different formats (some with merged cells, some with split cells). It contains cells with form fields and cells with plain text. It is protected. There are some rows which, in cell 3, have a checkbox. If the checkbox value in cell 3 = true, I want to copy cells 2, 4 and 5 of this row to a new table at the end of the document or into a new table in a new separate document. Cells 2 and 4 are plain text in; cell 5 is a form field. I don't know how to do a copy statement for a range with some plain text cells and a form field cell.     - Use Macro on Document Open to Fill In data I am setting up a sheet with client data on it. For reasons I'm not going into now, the prime users of this sheet are not familiar with and will not us the address book. This means that most of the repetitive data has to be typed in, prefferable without forgetting any. I would like to use a macro and fields that querry for each item. I have that part working, but don't know how to make the macro execute when the document opens, without the user have to do anything.     - Word 2007 Macros Disabled I created a number of macros in a word macro enabled template as well as auto footers. Without seemingly doing anything, my macros no longer work even though I went into the Trust Center and anutomatically enabled all macros. The macros, when run, insert the appropriate merge or insert codes, but not the actual footers or bookmarks. There doesn't seem to be anyway around this that I have discovered so far.     - Drop Down getting values from Excel Ok, so I always get these questions from my co-workers on Friday afternoon... We want to establish a spreadsheet (let's call it schools.xls) that has school names (and maybe 3 or 4 other fields). The users would populate the spreadsheet, then go to a Word doc that has a drop down box that feeds off of the values in the spreadsheet.     - Restarting the numbering with vba Hello! Is there a possibility to restart the numbering with VBA? I need to do that because when I insert as a link (always through vba code) a file that might contain a series of numbering paragraphs, this numbering continues in the next instance of the file.     - Transition from Word 2000 to 2003 and template/mail merge issues I have several templates that pull merge data from an excel spreadsheet, all of which work just fine in Word 2000. However, when trying to open them in Word 2003 the following happens: 1. If Local Open, the database (.xls sheet) is no longer associated with the template. 2. After that doesn't work, if we try opening the template from Recent Files, the database is associated with the template. 3. The merge works on some but not all records, even though the merge is based on the first column in the database. I'm so confused, and I don't even know the right questions to ask you.     - Automate compiling a template? As part of a software build process, I need to compile some VBA in a Word template. Currently we have to manually open the .dot file, open VBA (Alt+F11), select Compile from the debug menu, save the template and exit.     - Positioning Data in Indivisual Cells within a Table using VBA I am importing data from an AS/400 using OLE DB/ADO and wish to populate a table with data. I am reading a Primary file which has header information, and I need to load detail from two additional files into the Table. The number of rows within the table must be variable. Is there any way that once it has sent the email it can close Word and not save the active document? The only thing I can think of that I changed is that my virus protection ran out and I got rid of it since it wouldn't work any more and downloaded a new one. I then began having much trouble with my Office 2000 Professional. I finally got that resolved and now everything is working in Office 2000 Professional except Word. If I try to open any of the old documents that never left off the computer, I get this "c:\Documents and settings\ (my name)\Desktop\w2k5p4_EN.EXE.part" and the program will not open the documents.     - VBA Macro Issues after 2000 to 2003 upgrade A few years ago I wrote templates for Microsoft Word and Excel containing vba code. The macros are used to search through designated word files, suck out particular bits of information, export that info to excel, and create cross-reference tables in Excel with that info. We use these templates a lot in my group. A few weeks ago I got a new laptop with Windows XP (instead of 2000) and Office 2003 (instead of 2000). I just tried using these macros for the first time since the upgrade, and I'm running into a lot of problems: 1) The Word macro that exports data to Excel runs EXTREMELY slowly -- it takes 5 minutes where it used to take 30 seconds. And that's if I save the file locally; over the network, I give up before I see anything happening. 2) Some of the indentation formatting is not correct after the Word macro is run. 3) Workbooks made from the Excel template have code to create a menu with buttons to run the macros. These menus never appear. 4) If I run the macros in Excel, I get an error at the following line, probably because the menu isn't there: If CommandBars(sortReqToolBarName).Visible = True Then Any advice is appreciated.     - Split a Document using VBA I have a very large word document (2721 pages) which contains a datafile too large to open in Excel. My aim is to split this data into manageable chunks for excel to open.     - Document containing many ActiveX controls prints out blank Hi all, I have a 9 page Word document that contains a large number of ActiveX controls from the form toolbar, i.e. textboxes, radio buttons and a couple of command buttons. I've used this because my customer's clients need to be guided through filling in a whole pile of data and I have used VBA to hide and unhide the controls depending on how the client starts filling in the document. It all works nicely in versions 97 through to 2007 so I was quite chuffed. However, when they (using Word 2003) or I (using Word 2002 or 2007) try to print it out, we get 9 nearly blank pages. The only things that get printed out are the lines around a table. The document is normally protected to allow data input only via the form, but even when I unprotect it the printing still doesn't work. I've Googled every combination of words that I can think of that might be relevant, but can't find anything that explains what the reason for the problem is let alone a solution.     - Word/normal.dot/Toolbars problem?? I have created a toolbar called CustomMacros and have placed a drop-down menu in it with various macros. A few macros that I don't use any more I have deleted out of the normal.dot and have dragged their labels off the menu bar, however, once I close out of Word the label still appears in the menu. I've also added another menu to the toolbar and split up the list of macros categorically since the list in the one menu was getting too large, yet when I close out of Word the changes I've made have been ignored and my original long-listed menu remains intact.
