    - deselect command in a macro I have created a macro for users to update all the fill-in fields in my document, but it puts me back in with the "WholeStory" still selected. AND the recorder will not let me click on the document, right click and toggle fields or any other way that I know how to deselect the material. This document is going out to the entire company of about 2000 poeple and I know a LOT of them are not computer savvy enough to do it themselves. SO, I want to know what the command is that I can put within the macro to deselect the WholeStory. I don't even know enough about Visual Basic to BE dangerous!!! Thanks!     - Form field frustration I am having a couple of issues programmatically accessing form fields. I have assigned â??bookmarkâ?? names to these fields and here is how I can use VBA to see what has been entered in the field. Dim FieldText as string FieldText = Word.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("LastName").Range.Text The problems : A) I cannot detect when the field is empty B) Empty fields have text value of 5 spaces, but return FALSE when compared to being equal to 5 spaces C) Trim seemingly has no effect, as â??trim(FormField)â?? still = FormField = 5 spaces D) Any attempt to erase the text in a form field by setting = â??â?? erases the form field, setting equal to 5 spaces also does not work.     - PrintDate from Protected document doesn't work I have the following problem with PrintDate which appears only in Word 2000 In Word 2003 everything works OK. My users unfortunately use Word 2000 (9.0.4402 SR-1) 1) Users demand is that the footer contains PrintDate field 2) Second demand is that when approved, document is protected against writing with password . I protect document programmatically with following code Const wdAllowOnlyComments=1 WordObj.ActiveDocument.Protect wdAllowOnlyComments, False, "PASSWORD" 3) PROBLEM IS FOLLOWING: After protecting the document, PrintDate, after document has been printed out, doesnâ??t work any more It is empty = 00.00.00000. I also found out that the same problem with PrintDate appears also if I do everything manually in Word so probably this is a Bug or something.     - How to remove italic formatting I'm obviously a bloody beginner in Word. I have some text, some of it formatted in the (italic) character style "Emphasis", some of it with "italic" applied as manual formatting. I want to have all the text formatted "not italic". Selection.Font.Italic=False does not work. Am I overlooking an obvious, simple solution, or do I have to write some elaborate code, just to remove the italic formatting?     - Excel running Word macro I have a complicated macro which does several things to a series of imported htm files, however it is not working as expected.     - Date + 1 Month Hi there, I'm pretty new so bear with me. I have a word document ask a user what a certain date is. Let's call it "DATE A". This date is inserted into the first row of a table. I need to add 1 Month to this date in the next row. 2 Months to this date in the row below, etc. I.E. Let's assume DATE A is January 01, 2007.     - Code for Adding Custom Document Property I have revised an existing template to contain a new custom doc property. Since old documents (not containing the new property) will sometimes be attaching to the template, I need to add code that checks the attached document for the existence of the property & if it's not there, create it. I know the code I need to use to add the custom document property(ActiveDocument.CustomDocumentProperties.Add ...) , but I don't know the best way to check for the property & tell it to execute the code if the property is missing. Also ... I read in another email thread that it may not be a good idea to create the customdocument property with ActiveDocument since the property exists in the template but not in the open doc. If the property existing in the template but not in the active document creates a conflict, then what should I use instead to create it?     - Using arrays in a userform I have an Excel file which is a database of names and addresses. It consists of 16 columns of data and 20 rows for each office. In my Word template I have a userform with, among other things, a dropdown list and two command buttons. One button Retrieves the first nine fields in the database and displays these on the form for the user to check the correct details have been selected based on the dropdown list. I have no problems with this part. On retrieval, Fields 10 to 16 are put into an array variant, like this: VarData(0) = rs.Fields(9).Value VarData(1) = rs.Fields(10).Value VarData(2) = rs.Fields(11).Value VarData(3) = rs.Fields(12).Value VarData(4) = rs.Fields(13).Value VarData(5) = rs.Fields(14).Value VarData(6) = rs.Fields(15).Value I have checked and each element of the array is holding its correct information. What I don't know how to do is to pass the data that was in the array under the "Retrieve" button so that it can be put on the paper when I press the "OK" button. Each piece of the array would be concatenated with a vbCr prior to going on the page. Also, if there was no data (Null) in the last field then I would discard it from the operation.     - Error running Word 2007 Macro- macros disabled I get the error "Macros in this project are disabled" when trying to run a macro.     - Splitting a line of text at commas I have an Excel database and my Word template retrieves data from it quite successfully. One of the lines of data it retrieves is an address, each part of it separated by commas e.g: address1, address2, address3, and so on... For historical reasons, the one line address must remain as it is in the Excel database file. Below macro which I recently wrote is supposed to COPY all the text that has been placed between brackets TO the end of the document and list them one below the other.     - Populating & updating Word document from database I am looking for the best solution to meet the needs for a future development project. I think the new Word smart document might be the answer, but I'm not sure of its capabilities. What I need is as follows: My end users frequently create data-intesive proposal documents. The documents are a combination of a standard proposal template of text that they edit/customize for each specific proposal, and inserting data from another application, generally in the form of tables. The data from the application is always grouped together in a set number of tables, say Table A, Table B, and Table C. I would like the end user to be able to open a word document template, choose which tables to insert and where to insert in the document, and be able to modify the formatting of the tables (not the values in the table). Since the end user continues to update the data in the application while developing the proposal in Word, the user needs the ability to automatically update the table values from the application, without overriding any formatting changes that were made to the table. Is this possible? Am I on the right track with smart documents? I am not really a technical person, but am trying to do the initial research on what technology my development staff should use.     - Can't edit custom toolbar There is a problem : I have custom toolbar that is situated in a separate .dot file . .dot file is situated in "%CURRENT_USER%\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\" folder and loads on startup.     - Adjusting the Microsoft Graph colour palette from within Word VBA I'm having trouble setting the colour palette of a Microsoft Graph chart from within VBA. I can create the chart and adjust all the properties and everything, but I want to modify the palette in the chart so the bottom two rows of the palette (default colours for fills and lines) are my own custom colours. It deletes the old footers and the old first page but it inserts all the pages of the new template. I have a few text box fields to be filled out and a simple button at the bottom of the page to click on and have the document emailed to one email address.     - Auto Date Change Hi, I have a table in Word and I would like one column (C) to show the time the section to its left (A &B) was last updated. So if someone made a change something in Cell 1 , Col A , I would like it to say in Col C : 5/14/2007 automatically.     - Word 2000 fails to open Windows XP SP2, IE 7 with OE 6, Microsoft Works Suite 2000 with Word 2000. I have successfully used Word 2000 from the date of purchase until the recent round of Microsoft's Security Updates (10 May 2007). In fact I successfully produced a letter just prior to updating. Since the updates Word begins to open (gets to the typing page) and then closes with the option to send a defect report to MS. I have used System Restore to return to a date just prior to the Security Updates; No change in the defect symptoms. I have un-installed and re-installed Word; No change in the defect symptoms.     - Get web page object through Word VBA? Is it possible in a Word 2003 macro to set objects to the the IE application and the current web page? I'd like to check a checkbox and activate the NextPage link (as long as there's a next page to go to). I found some references to scripts that can do this, but I can't figure them out.     - How do I create a button to reset a form document? Hello! I've created a form document that will be used to fill out some text fields and then emailed. I think I've figureed out how to make the command button send the document as an attachment. My next task is to create a second button to reset all the fields to blank so it can be used again with out re-opening the document. Any ideas on how to do this? I also thought of another question...     - Printing Autotext I have a template called "autotext.dot" which has 150 odd autotext entries saved within it. As we do not use global normal.dot, we have to copy the autotext from autotext.dot to our normal.dot. What I need to do is print all of the autotext with the autotext name then the actual autotext underneath so that people have a hard copy of the autotext that can be used.     - Mail Merge relative reference to data source Hi I've been trying to find out over the last few days how exactly create/ fake a relative reference (as opposed to an absolute eg C:\blah\blah \blah) to an Excel spreadsheet I'm using as a data source. It sounds possible from some things I've read online, and I think I understand the theory but unfortunately I'm not proficient in VBA to do it, and nobody has posted the code anywhere (and as this is the only vb I'll be touching it's not worth learning the whole caboodle). It sounds like you have to create an AutoOpen macro (that kicks in on opening the doc) that changes the path of the MailMerge datasource to a combination of the file path of the word document and the file name chosen for the spreadsheet. I cobbled together some code that looked ok, and it seemed to work... but only once. on moving the duplicate folder it reverted to referring to the original again. The last cell on the right of each table holds a small logo. This logo is an in-line shape Users might need to remove this logo at any time.     - Saving a file, if it has a specific name Hi I have created a Word document, which I use as a template. Iow, it is a .doc file, but I open it, save it as some other name, and then work with it. The application is to have a letterhead, or a fax covering letter available, which I open, svae as, and then type a letter or covering letter. Can someone help me with a macro to do this? The part that has me stumped, is to check if the file has already been saved. If I open LetHead.doc, for example, I want the macro to check the filename.
