    - How to enable envelope in a protected document I was wondering if somebody could help me finish this macro to work correctly. Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is to be able to run the envelopes and labels with a protected document. I found a macro to spell check a protected document and that worked great, at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/SpellcheckProtectDoc.htm I then tried taking this macro and making it work for envelopes and labels. I came fairly close, I can run the macro and the envelopes and labels dialog box will pop up and if the user has a name and address it will bring that into the envelope dialog box. If the user hits print it will print it correctly and then close the dialog box and then protect the document. If the user it's cancel they get an run-time error and the document doesn't get protected.     - Move cursor to end of table of contents Hi all, I have a macro which adds extra text into the table of contents, but for it to work correctly, the cursor needs to be placed at the end of the TOC.     - Capturing Information via a User Form I'm using a user form to capture fax information for a fax cover sheet. 1) Is the RANGE property the preferred means of grabbing info from a field and placing it into a field on the user form? ex: frmFaxCover.txtPhone = Bookmarks.Item("fieldPhone").Range 2) What syntax would I use to grab the information from the User Form and update the fields on the document?     - generating a count of items in an array I have an array (shown below as "varArr") in which a macro searches for terms in the array ("text1", etc.) with a while statement. I occasionally add or delete a term from the array.     - Run the Same Macro on Multiple Files I'm proud of myself.     - using vba to delete part of a document I've got a group of letters that are generated through a mail merge with an excel file. These letters are to various entities and contain a listing of specific incidents that they were involved in. Since I wanted to just have one template and since the number of incidents per letter will vary, I simply created a template that had X number of incident placeholders and when the merge was performed, the placeholders were only populated up to the number of incidents that particular entity had. For example, right now the template has 39 placeholders because that happens to be the largest number of incidents in any one letter. If I merge the data for an entity who has 6 incidents, then the resulting letter will contain those 6 incidents, followed by 33 incident placeholders that contain no data. Currently, I have to go back in to each letter and delete the "extra" placeholders that are left over from the mail merge. (I know, I know..there is probably a much easier way for me to do all of this from the outset, but this is what I'm currently stuck with.) I've managed to place an identifier in the excel file so that when the data is merged into letters, this identifier is always found after the last incident in the letter...thus I know that everything after the identifier until the language at the bottom of the letter that is the same for all the letters can be deleted...that is, all the rest of the incidents are simply blank placeholders. What I would like to be able to do is create a macro that will go through a letter and remove those placeholders for me. I'm thinking along these lines, but I don't know how to make Word do this: 1. Find the identifier in the letter and move the cursor there. 2. Mark where the cursor is. 3. Find the beginning text at the bottom of the letter that marks the ending of the incident placeholders and place the cursor at the beginning of the paragraph. 4. Mark where the cursor is. 5.     - VBA Referencing reI have a template which I keep a lot of code in which is referenced to by quite a number of other templates. I want to move the template which is referenced to another location on my computer, this will obviously affect the reference link. it is possible with code to alter all my templates so that I don't have to open them myself one by one and change the reference path?     - Symbol font chars changing to "(" after passing through VBA Regex I've been having some trouble with characters in Symbol font converting to "(" when the paragraph which contains them is altered using VBA Regular Expressions. I'm using the Range.Text object because the FormattedText object will not work (for me, anyway) with Regex. The characters are fine if only a match is done. However, once any kind of substitution is performed in the paragraph, the characters "break". Has anyone else out there encountered this? If so, have you come up with any work arounds?     - How can I sort paragraphs of text? I'm presently trying to create a macro that will sort paragraphs of text. Below is an example of one of the paragraphs. I'm trying to sort them with reference to the "Classification:" number. The number of words between the header of the paragraph and the classification header is inconsistent.     - Message box to show in Word and not in Excel All: I am running Windows XP with Word and Excel 2003. I am running Excel VBA to open a word document and do some procedures. Basically, my code gets some values in excel, then opens up Word and inserts the data into Word. At the end of my code, I have a message box that says "the CD labels are ready to print". When my code is finished, it ends with word showing and activated on my screen. But the message box is shown on Excel and the only way to see it is to activate Excel . Is there any way to have this message box show up on top of Word being activated or do I need to reactivate Excel to show this message box? If I can only do one or the other, can you let me know and show me some code that can do this? I am new to this VBA code stuff but am trying to eagerly learn.     - Removing unusual Char Style Hello Windows XP - Office 2002 / 2003 I have some VBA that loops through the Styles Collection identifying Char styles. I then copy the Styles and break the link. I then delete the Char style. I cannot delete one Char style named " char" (please read "space Char"). I get "Run-time error '5941': The requested member of the collection does not exist."     - Questions regarding Userform/Macro Hello, it's been a while since I've posted my problems here :D but I'm still having the same ones... I've got a macro that will insert a form number in a document (where ever the cusor is) and it works well. When I tried insert the option to omit the last page from printing I ran into issues with variables (as in I'm not sure how to use them correctly). The code uses multiple message boxes to get all the info required and Jezebel suggested using a userform. I've got that created but I'm not sure how to go about setting it up for use with my macro (assigning buttons/fields). I'm discovering that I may be in a little over my head with this stuff so your help would be GREATLY appreciated :D I'll post the code for the macro, the userform, and the "omit last page print" code that Jezebel suggested. Can you help me combine these to hopefully work using the userform.     - Getting it all out of word. Hi, I am wanting to write a converter to convert a word document to an ActiveReport. To do this I need to get everything out of a word document. For example TABLES: I need to get position, columns, rows and size of table TEXT: the text plus all formating (bold, underlined, font, size etc) As long as at the other end I get a file that looks exactly like the word document. Is there a way to loop through the document? I have looked at looping through tables cell by cell but am not sure if there is a way to guarantee getting everything from a word document.     - form field calculation trouble I've been all over the forums and newsgroups on this and am making 0 progress. This seems like it should be pretty simple but it's giving me loads of grief. I have a Word 2003 dot file set for filling in forms. It has 2 form fields for the user to fill in a quantity and a price. There needs to be a 3rd field that will show the result. I've tried doing this using a macro and I've tried it using a calculation in the 3rd field Nothing works. Also, every time I set the bookmark name in one of them it randomly goes blank the next time I open the dot file so I can editi it. Yes, the first 2 fields are set to calculate on exit. Yes, the 3rd field is not allowed to be filled in. field 1 (form text): Type = Number, Max length = 5, number format = #,##0.00, Bookmark = NumAdultTickets, Fill-in enabled = true, Calculate on exit = true field 2 (form text): Type = Number, Max length = 5, number format = #,##0.00, Bookmark = CostPerAdultTickets, Fill-in enabled = true, Calculate on exit = true I created field 3 by using CTRL+F9: Then I right clicked it and chose "Edit Field". I clicked the "formula" button and in the "Formula" box I typed =NumAdultTickets*CostPerAdultTicket. I set the number format to #,##0.00. After clicking "OK" I see this in my table cell: {{=NumAdultTickets*CostPerAdultTicket \#"#,##0.00"}} I set the dot file to protected for filling in forms and saved it. Then I double clicked the dot file to create a new doc file from it. When I fill in the first 2 fields nothing happens in the 3rd. It's just blank. I'm an experienced VB, FoxPro, Access, Delphi, SQL programmer. It sucks trying to get stuff like this to work. It's not logical. What am I doing wrong? Please don't refer me to Dian Chapman's series of articles. I've looked them over and they seem to only cover initially creating the form and some fields and then writing vba for it.     - Hyperlink in Word calling from an excel spreadsheet Ok, I must do a little explaining first. I have a form, which collects the path of a given Word file and stores it in an excel cell. Then I have a module in excel transfer the contents of the cells to bookmarks in a word template file, then saves the word [template] document in the folder containing the excel file. C:/mydocs/excelworkbookfolder/FORMTEXT/actuallinkfromcellinexcel.doc Why does FORMTEXT actually mean, and how do I get the link to be just the path in the cell, and not that whole long thing. i have a document with lots of formatting and when i use Adobe 6.0 to
convert the pdf file to word all the formatting gets messed up.

or any ideas on how to make the pdf file editable?

I use OmniPage Pro to convert PDF to Word, but it misses some of the
formatting too. I don't think anything will do a perfect job of it.
Incidentally, if the file was not created from a document (like a
scanned PDF file), then you have to use OCR to convert it. Often, OCR
of a scanned document will do a decent job of retaining simple
formatting.

There is no tool that will do this cleanly. PDF formats are essentially
graphics files. The best you can manage will be good quality OCR software
such as Finereader. The whole point of PDF is that it isn't readily
editable.
