Both openings are from trusted locations, but non-generating computer (the one that is trying to run it, not the one that created it).     - Limitation of a form field of 255 Characters Hi!! I am trying to use a macro to fill in a field in a form with a paragraph I copy from an EXCEL cell. The problem is that this paragrph has more than 255 characters so it doesn't seem to work directly. I have seen some article that sugest to use the clipboard as a way to overcome this problem.     - Dropdown Button Values Hi, I have done a form and I have included a dropdown button that allows to select among 6 different values that are predetermined. Now, I would like to have a second dropdown button that allows to select among 4 different values, but the issue is that those four values depends on the value previously selected in the button 1. In summary, Dropdown1 values (1, 2,3,4,5,6) and for Dropdown2 values as follow: - Dropdown1 =1 then a,b,c,d -Dropdown1=2 then e,f,g,h ..... and so on. Any idea of how to do this?     - MS Word Automation help Hello, I am trying to find a method via VBA or VB that will determine whether a MS Word Doc is password protected. A boolean result would be the best.. OR can I trap for the Password Dialog that opens up when a passworded doc is opened and handle it myself via code? Some Background We are trying to page out (each page as a seperate doc) a document that may or may not be passworded, a a background function of an application. What we want to do it manage the password dialog event ourselves so we can keep word hidden away, and pass in the passwords in our open call as needed.     - Another dreaded "loop through the document" question Using Word 2007. I promise that I have looked through the code here but my programming skills are rusty and VBA is NOT my "thing". I have a long (200+ page) document that begins life as an HTML file generated by a test bank program. I've written a long macro that does a lot of cleanup work using find/replace and it works great. However, I'm not quite satisfied with my results. This test bank doesn't get monkeyed with often so I don't care how slow or clunky the macro is and I don't care to spend hours and hours getting it perfect. The edited document contains between 450 and 500 questions, each in the format shown below. All paragraphs are in the Normal style (with no space above or below) except the question number (e.g, 13 of 465), which is in Normal (Web) (which has space before and after). I'll show returns as <r>. = indicates a horizontal rule that is the full width of the page, - indicates a horizontal rule that is half the width of the page. =========================================== 13 of 465<r> This is the question.     - Losing references to template I have a macro-enabled template in 2007 (.dotm) with a user form, which is being used my multiple users and is saved in a shared network location. For some reason, whenever anyone has a document based on the template open on their desktops, if anyone else tries to base a document on the template, they get a "Field Review.dotm is locked for use by (Name of person using it)", then gives the option to open "Read Only". My understanding is that multiple users should be able to have documents that are based on the same template open without locking the template. Am I missing something or is this a Word 2007 bug?     - Delete a paragraph up to a specific character hi, i am trying to find a way to delete all text/characters in a paragraph up to (and including) the last occurence of a backslash within that paragraph, throughout the document. using the GNU regexp i would select something like "^.*\\" and delete it. so from a paragraph like Subject\heading\section1\part2\topic3 only the following should remain topic3 i tried to get this using search/replace but i failed with the unknown number of characters which are to be replaced and the beginning of the paragraph. please also note that some paragraphs have automatic numbering but i assume that this should not make any difference as the numbers should stay as they are. any help on this is appreciated. cheers, thomas Tag: Thanks a lot Tag: 109233

    - Need to have form field end up with data generated by macro that is I just had a Word form task dumped on me, which would not be a problem if I had spent a lot of time working with forms in the past. But I haven't. I need to create a form field, run a macro on entry (or exit, if more appropriate), and have the macro results end up in the form field when I'm done.     - Modifying a recorded macro in Word 2003 I began a small project that involved the following steps: 1. Copy a large amount of table data from my health insurer's site. 2. Save the table in a text file to get rid of the table formatting. 3. Copy the resulting text to Word where I could use "Find/Replace" editing to remove redundant data and formatting. 4. Record a macro of all the Find/Replace steps for later use on data updates. 5. Copy results (now a list of tab delimited records) back to a text file. 6. Import text file into an Excel worksheet. All this worked fine, except that when I ran the macro from the keyboard I had to keep pressing the shortcut keys as if the macro was being stepped through the several code segments. Not being very accomplished in writing or recording macros, I don't know how to get the macro to run as a single operation without all the keyboard intervention.     - How word is started I would like to know if it is posible to determine if how word has been started. I have been tiraling running word across a network when it normally starts it loads a global template which carries all the sub routines needed to do various things built into forms that are produced.     - Word 2007 Dotm vs. Dot, slow loading of Word Hi, I have a DOT file, it's rather large (3,5MB) but works fine in Word 2003 and Word 2007. The file has lots of functionality, userforms, modules and a custom commandbar and i've already converted it to DOTM (1,5MB) with Custom Ribbon UI instead of the commandbar. The problem is, that the DOTM file ENORMOUSLY slows down Word 2007 startup (the dot-file needs to be in the startup folder). When I just load the old DOT file (exactly the same functionality, but not in the new format) Word 2007 startup speed is fine. But then I cannot have Custom Ribbon UI. Is this a known issue or is there a way to speed up the loading of my DOTM file? I really want to be able to use the Custom Ribbon UI XML. P.S.     - Protect Form macro errors When I activate the Protect Form function on my templates and then open them via a 3rd party preview screen I get a series of error messages before the macro works. I need to protect the form for the form fields to work and the templates are for a 3rd party system so I cant have these errors appearing.     - Dynamic userforms Hello, I have created a Word template with a userform attached which appears on-screen for the user to fill-in and subsequently insert information into a letter. The macro which initiates this pop-up userform works great. However, it would be nice to place a date field into the userform that displays the date a developer last made a change to either the macro or userform associated with my template. Essentially, I would like to have a dynamic form in the sense that it displays the date when the template is saved. As you know, changes to macros and forms only take effect when the associated template is saved. I know this feature can be done with Javascript for webpages.
