    - Help Word 2003 I have written (with the help of others as I am not any good at it) some code to insert a Purchase Order Number in sequence. This is done by accessing a menu within Word called template tools. Everything works fine if you go to File, Open, Select the relevant template, Click Open and *Enable Macros*. The same happens if you go to File New, From Existing document, select the relevant template, Click Open *Enable Macros*. However, if you use File New, and select it from either the recently used files list it does not work and although the file opens - when you try to insert the PO number you get the following error Microsoft Visual Basic System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Unspecified Error. Is this to do with the "Enabling Macros" bit or what do you think? I could (with help - please ;-) ) write some code within this to ensure that macros are enabled on opening the file???     - Testing a text file in Word Macro Hi Guys, Can any one give suggestions on it please? Ours is a big organisation with almost 100 printer. I have written macro which checks the driver name and assign the different trays. I have written if statements for each printer but in the future if new printers are added I dont want MAcro to be changed much. So I think it will be good if I store all the printer details as a text file and test with driver name and Assign the tray numbers.     - Using VBA to set "Disable features introduced after" to false. Hi I have tried to use the following line of code to disable the feature "Save Word files as" option in Word options on document open: Word.Options.DisableFeaturesbyDefault = False by using this I was hoping to disable stop the option from renabling with older documents also.     - TextBox limit Is there any way to limit a TextBox to only 4 lines of text? I know I can limit the number of characters, but users will be entering a mix of capital and lower case letters, so it is hard to know what to set the max length to.     - Dynamic List Box using VBA I wasn't really sure how to phrase this one -- this isn't your Typical Drop-Down List. I have a SELECT statement which queries SQL Server 2005 and displays the data in Excel. Let's say that a database lists products that have been delivered to 4 different cities, on 3 seperate days -- without knowing (in advance) the delivery dates, how could I create an input/drop-down field to allow the user to specify a particular date? I envision something like this: VBA code produces a list box of delivery dates based on a particular product and city. The user selects a delivery date from the list-boxe, and this selection gets passed to a SQL Select Statement to return the data to an EXCEL spreadsheet. I just don't know of any way to do this ...     - macro to close the active window without saving the document I'm trying to write a macro that closes the active window without saving the document. The one line of code is: ActiveWindow.Close SaveChanges:=wdDoNotSaveChanges This macro closes the active document but doesn't close the parent window.     - old amounts in an array run more than once I have created a complex macro in word reading through a standardised document. All amounts are picked up in an array called NBs(40,10) through a select case. If I start the macro once again - even with another document - the old amounts are still in the NBs() array. I then tried a sub to clean up the array. That did even not work. So I have top close Word completely to avoid old figures? I have run the macro in word 2000 2003 and now in 2007 with the same bad result.     - fomulars Hello everyone. I need someones help pretty badly.I am looking for a fomular for word thats basicly does what excel does. Now before anyone asks no I CAN NOT use excel. What I have is a invoice that my client wants used for every invoice I send to them. Now it wouldn't be too bad if I had to just one invoice once in a while. ,but I am sending these invoices about 9 times a week, ON TOP of all my other invoices, for which I use QuickBooks for. Let me tell you what I need. First section of the invoice is time. Time - In | Time - Out | Total Hours | Hourly Rate | Total Amount So I need to calculate the hours for total hours times the Hourly Rate for a total billable amount The next section is for travel expense total traveled miles times the amount per miles .40 = total amount Next section would be for supplies used Quanity times cost = Total amount Last section Grand Total Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Word should have alpha toolbar like Outlook Contacts re: file find I would like to suggest that an option presently utilized in Microsoft Outlook Contacts be designed similarly in Microsoft Word. I continuously update my address book in Outlook, and I know what a timesaving detail the right-hand alpha tool bar is. I would like to recommend that there be a similar toolbar designed in Microsoft Word, so that there would be greater ease in tracking and retrieiving Word documents. The scroll bar alone is not effective enough in file finding.     - Word2007; width of toolbar dropdown list In 2003 and below, I can create a dropdown list in a new tool bar like this CommandBars(listnameis).Controls.Add(Type:=msoControlDropdown) control its width with the ".width = ###" command. In 2007, with all addins shoved into the same window, I no longer seem to be able to control widths. When 'undecended,' they are fairly narrow, and when decended, they take up the entire width of the screen! This is not an acceptable behavior.     - Help creating and Find & Replace macro This situation happens to me so often, I really want to create a macro to get the job done. I'm just not sure how to do this. I get Word documents that have spaces instead of tabs to align text into columns. (Yes, it is very annoying.) Right now, I have to find the longest one (the one with the most spaces), copy those spaces, and paste them into the Find & Replace dialog box under find what. I enter ^t in the Replace box and do a Replace All. I then delete one space and hit Replace All again. If there are anywhere from 5 to 50 spaces, you can see that this would take quite a long time. Is there anyway to create a loop that would start with the number of spaces I specify and remove one space with each loop through? My brain is about to explode trying to figure this one out.     - VBA, Word, XML, Save a Copy This is a tough one... I have a highly suseptible file in XML on a server with an http address that I can access through a slew of propriatory applications. I would like to create a copy of the file on my local drive using VBA. THe problem is that: 1) I can't use saveas because if I do the active document becomes the new copy and I can't programaticly reopen the old one because the http: address will only open throught the prop app. 2) it's XML and it goes crazy (looses the XML coding in the background) when i select all and paste it into a new temp file.     - Clipboard is empty or not valid I am attempting to automate word from .NET, inserting rtf by copying it into the Clipboard from a string and pasting it into a word range. However, I get the following COMException about half the time that I try pasting using the Range.Paste() method. "This method or property is not available because the Clipboard is empty or not valid."     - Error 91 Hi everyone, I have a template which users use to create large documents with several chapters and subchapte also this template has many different macros including a few macro for moving or deleting chappters and subchapters. Sometimes when users uses macros to move the chpter or delete them they get "error 91" ( macro opens a drop down list with the list of chpters to pick) but I have found a trick to solve this problem and thats when the user does turn on the paragraph mark doesnt get the error anymore!     - XML protection I am creating a Word Template in VSTO by attaching a schema to it and apply XML tags in it. The user can fill in the document by several taskpanes. The document in general is protected but when a user selects an xml-node I use the _ContextEnter to unprotect the document and the _ContextLeave to protect the document again. If the document is unprotected, the user can delete the content within the xml tag (for editing without using the taskpane) but the user can ALSO delete the xml-tag itself which should not happen at all. After the xml-tag is deleted the document goes in protectionmode but obvious this is too late because the tag shouldn't be removed at all. Anybody knows a solution or workaround for this?     - List of cross-references based on custom style Hi, I have been trying to find a way to make it easy for our authors to cross-reference to Appendix headings. We use custom styles called App Heading 1 to 5. These appear in the Cross-reference dialog box under the Reference Type: Numbered Items. But so too do all the other numbered items. I would like to be able to do any of the following: 1. Filter the 'For Which' list in the Cross-Reference dialog box to show only the numbered items I want; or 2. Use a custom form to show a filtered list. I have been successful with programatically changing the settings in the Cross-reference dialog box using the SendKeys method to. But don't know how to filter the Numbered Items list further. I have created forms before, and suspect that I might need to use an array and maybe the GetCrossReferenceItems method, but not sure how to filter the list to specific items.     - Copy Figure/image Hi all, I have a question on copying Fig/image from the doc. Now I'm able to copy all Fig/image in the doc to another doc by copy and paste the Shapes and InShapes obj in the activedocument by VBA However when there are drawings that contains couples of Shapes, (e.g 3 text boxes and 3 drawn arrows to represent the relationship, 6 shapes represent 1 image) I can still copy these shapes, but I cant put them in the right order or position.     - How to determine Table Indent I used to use Table.Rows.LeftIndent property to determine a table's indent value. If this is value was set to wdUndefined then usually Table.Rows(0).LeftIndent is the most appropriate since some documents tend to indent all other rows slightly to enhance the appearance. I have found that some tables have vertically merged cells so individual rows cannot be accessed. However, Word reports the correct value from the Table Properties menu. Is there a way to obtain the indent value in VBA under these conditions?     - Textbox Changes Hello, This is only my second time posting here and I'm pretty new with this so bare with me. I have a userform which a user opens that contains different text boxes linked back to bookmarked - cells in a table. It works fine except when I track changes it highlights the whole entire bookmarked area and says it was deleted. When I "accept all changes" only deletes the words/characters I originaly deleted. The problems is when other users go in to review it looks like very thing is going to be deleted.     - Troubleshooting Auto Text Hi, I'm having a problem keeping my Auto Text attached to my form. Here is what I have done so far. 1. Created a document (doc.) Created the Auto Text and added the macro to insert the Auto Text. 2. Protected the .doc and saved it as a template (.dot).     - Find and reset particular styles [Word 2003]: I am trying to figure out a way to programatically apply the ".font.reset" method to all text of particular document style. Ideally I would like to do it using the Range method of Find, but the exact syntax is eluding me. More detail: I have set up a number of checkboxes to show/hide certain portions of a long document based on styles (by modifying the ".font.hidden" property of certain styles). However, I am finding that the document can get out of whack, where certain sections seem to have the "hidden" property applied even though it is not default for the style (probably because I am also using the bookmark method to show/hide certain contiguous portions of the document). I want an easy way to quickly reset text in particular styles to the style default. The non programatic way would be to use the Style pull-down and "Select all X instances", then click the style name and select "Reapply Style" from the dialog box that comes up. Thanks.     - Finding a String in Word I can use VBA in Excel reasonably well. This is my first foray into word macros and I am having trouble. I am developing a macro that allows the user to select a text file to open. Then I format the file to fit the width of one page. No problems there. Next I want to insert page breaks. To do that I need to loop through each row of the file (that's what I would do in Excel anyway) until I find the phrase "REPORT ID:" without the quotes. When I find that phrase, I then want to find the next string of characters following that phrase and set it equal to a variable called "RptName." At that point I can end the loop. (In Excel I would use an Exit For line of code.) I then use that variable in a search and replace function to insert a page break. The RptName starts one blank space after the phrase "REPORT ID:" and can vary in length. If I were using Excel, I would use the InStr function to isolate the variable name but don't know how to get there in word. Hi all,

I have a tiny problem with a vba code under Windows Vista. I need a way to
start a program using the shell command or something else like this:

shell("updater.exe", 1)

The problem is, that this is actually an updater program, which has to be
started in Administrator mode. Now, when I try to start it like in Win Xp
the user doesn't get the UAC Window asking him if he wants to continue
starting the program. The Shell command doesn't do anything.

Anybody has an idea how can I accomplish this? (Starting Winword.exe under
Administrator privileges solves the problem, but this is of course out of
question)

It was actually a very funny suggestion ;) Because the name of the file has
nothing to do with the UAC.
