    - VBA code not deleting macros I think I have a comparable problem to "Howard Kaikow" I'm using an "autoexec" macro to check & update a suite of macros if a later version exists Most of the code is OK, but I repeatedly find that a couple of modules won't delete, and if I can't delete them I can't copy the new version across Simplified routine is (excuse any layout errors) For all "macros & forms" if new version > old version then call DELMACRO(macroname) end if call addnewversion Next "macro & forms" Sub DelMacro(ThisMacro) Application.OrganizerDelete _ Source:=NormalTemplate.fullname _ , Name:=ThisMacro _ , Object:=wdOrganizerObjectProjectItems End Sub Most of the time it works, but for two macros called "Get WorkingDirectoryCode" & "GetPrinterModelCode" it won't delete them, so they then won't add. I've tried a different name (GWDC & GPMC) but that doesn't make any difference I've even tried capitalising the names just in case there was a case (capital vv lower) issue involved like in some library code, but that doesn't make any difference I can always delete them using the VBA project window, but can't see how that can be applied in normal VBA code execution. Once the program's crashed on the copy (can't copy over existing file) they've gone from the project list, but then it's a bit late. Secondly, I've just moved up to Office 2K3 and find that changes to the Autoexec macro don't always seen to be saved when I exit Word. When I restart work sometimes an earlier version of the Autoexec macro runs and it's becoming rather frustrating to troubleshoot the Macrodelete problem when you find the latest code you're trying has disappeared Any ideas on either issue??     - Selecting Inlineshape after PasteAndFormat L.S. Due to demo of an application I have to replace about 10.000 inlineshapes (special type, ISIS/Draw) in 4000 Word doc's by inlineshapes randomly selected from a an example Database with these drawings. Problem: it is easy to replaCe the Inlineshape (always the first and only one withing a Bookmark) but I seem to be unable to select it again after replacing after replacing. And that is what I need to restore the bookmark. Can someone help me out?     - Failure to delete a toolbar A bit over 3 years ago, I posted a problem that I, and several others, have reported in these newsgroups. See http://www.standards.com/OhMyWord/VBABugsFeatures.html#DeleteToolbar. I first noticed the problem in Word 2000, then Word 2002. Today, I confirmed that the problem also exists in Word 2003. When such a problem persists for so many Word versions, it means that MSFT is really screwing up by not fixing the problem, or there was a fundamental (mis)design error in Word 2000 and beyond.     - Print macro which automatically identifys default printer Problem - I have several printers with different numbers of trays (some 2, some 3) and they're diferent types they call their trays different names. I create print macros to print letter head (first page from top tray, other pages from lower tray, then entire copy on white for file) until now I've been creating print macros for each type of printer but it's getting time consuming to amend them and visit each PC to load normal on.     - Problems when opening word template on web server Hi! My problem is that I have a word template located on a webserver. The clients open this through a webpage that has a link to a shortcut (.lnk) to the template. (this solution is recomended by MS , http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;278627) . On some computers this works fine, the templates create a dialogue and everything is OK. But on some computers , after the "File download" dialogue, nothing more happens. A file download progress dialogue flashes by and then nothing happens. Can this be some security issue? On one computer this solution works fine if the webserver is located on the intranet, but not when he tries to do the same thing over the internet. Help on this matter is highly appreciated!     - Linking Excel files that could have a variable path name? I am working on a large document with multiple linked spreadsheets. This document and spreadsheet will always have the same file names but will be located in different directories depending on the user. I thought I could do an ASK field then a REF field but it does not recognized the REF field inside the quotes of the LINK field. I do know that all the files will be in the same directory so if I could tell it just to look where the Word document is for all the spreadsheets it would work. I've tried several solutions but not work reliably. For instance, I thought I'd perform a SaveAs from within Word; that should move the Active Document pointer or whatever it's called to the newly saved doc; the orig doc should be closed. Then, use Kill to delete the orig file. This approach works fine on some machines, on other machines it fails with error 70 permission denied. The orig file is still open on some machines (but not others). On those machines I can see that the file exits in both locations, and the open file is the orig file. Why is word so inconsistent with this fundemental behavior? Via menu choices, in all cases SaveAs moves the current file to the "new" file. I am programming in Word 2002 and the machines that have this issue are Word 2000 - but the saveas behavior is so basic that I can't imagine that it's deliberately different programming this in the two versions. I have doevents all over the place. And, if I try to close the word doc in it's original location, I error out with "Bad File Name", when I can see the file is still at that location.     - Word VBA book recommendations I would like to buy a Word VBA book. In looking at Amazon, the "Word VBA 2000 Developers Handbook" (something like that) seems to be the best. I also tried putting RecordNumberRange in the declarations, but that didn't make any difference one way or the other. Curiously, the second Set RecordNumberRange command has never caused an error. The bizzare thing is that the error doesn't happen all the time. For the last two days, I've been getting the error about 90% of the time. But just now I completed a test that ran this subroutine more than 50 times, and I didn't get a single error. The thing is, I didn't change anything! The code that just ran 50+ times without an error is the SAME code that was previously causing an error 90% of the time. There were literally NO changes. Now, I could just trap this error with On Error Resume Next, but I would prefer to know what's causing of the error. One thing that I am wondering about is the document itself. I've been using the document for months--adding and deleting large section of text, creating the deleting bookmarks, running my code and then undoing everything, etc. I'm wondering if the document is becoming corrupt, and maybe the code needs to be copied to a fresh document. Is that possbile? Another thing that I'm wondering about is the fact that I've added more modules. Initially, all the code was contained in the ThisDocument module. With the addition of the error trapping features I've been developing, I've added 2 more modules--one that declares a couple of public variables, and one that contains and Option Explicit statement and declares a function for passing information from the Err object to a button on a custom form. Hi Folks, On my form, users can enter data directly into a text box, or they can past it into the text boxs from the clipboard data with a special "Paste from 3rd Party App" button that I have done. When they type the data in themselves I have a little Procedure : Private Sub TextBox1_Change() TextBox1 = StrConv(TextBox1, vbProperCase) End Sub To make sure the names are property formatted etc. The problem is that when I : "Paste from 3rd Party App" none of the formatting is applied to the text boxes! How would I go about getting them all updated? Each time I get something created and email the document out the end user gets the pathname as either a code or in their temporary internet folder.     - How to place text blocks from another program? I'm running Word from an MS Access app, iterating through a file of people and information on them, and formatting the Word doc as I go. No problem just plugging in names, addresses, comments as long as I start at the top and work down. What I'd like to do, however, is place a block of text on the left of the page that contains the person's mailing address - and then place another block of text on the right side of the page that contains the person's telephone numbers and email addresses. The two blocks would be of varying sizes/lengths for each person and different sizes/lengths between themselves. Each block is already formatted (line feeds and all) in the input recordset. Is there a way to do this without parsing each block into separate lines, counting the lines and then tabbing across the doc?     - Bookmarks I am running word from access - using msoffice2000, winxp I have 22 docs with bookmarks in them. I need to fill in the bookmarks from my access app. Everything works as expected on 18 of the 22 files. The other 4 files cause all kinds of problems. I have set the recordset to just access these 4 files, wondering if I was over-taxing the whole system, but even if they are the only 4 files, they cause problems. Here are the problems. If I try to do all 22 files, I get the 18 files correct, then the app stops, everything is in 'not responding' and I have to shut it all down. If I try to do just the 4 rogue files, the routine that sets the bookmarks gets the 4 files in a recordset, opens them, skips over the portion of the routine that sets the bookmarks.text and closes them back up, this time without any 'not responding' system problems. I have checked the docs, and all bookmarks are actually present. Using debug.print, I see the routine set all 18 files but then it fails on the first of these 4 files. The debug.print suggests that the app is working on the files in an ascending alpha sort, and it does the good 18, and then crashes on the first of the 4 bad files, which is located in the middle of the alpha sort. I am dumbfounded at this action, but am wondering if I perhaps have four corrupted files. I thought I would beg some information before just jumping in and recreating these files.     - Ready to give up... I have created 2 Word documents. Both have radio buttons and text boxes. In one I used VBA controls and the other I used Web Controls. Both are protected. I sent both to another computer as attachments. The operator at the other computer opened both attachments but cannot click on any of the radio buttons and have it register. He is uable to enter any text in the text box. In clicking on the text boxes and radio buttons the properties dialog box opens. What is going on?     - Printing to paper trays I have posted this problem to the PAge Layout forum but I first encountered it with VBA. I am having a problem with paper trays, re the following: - in a new document type some text, put in a next page section break and type some text on page 2 (section 2) - In File, Page Setup choose Tray One for first page and Tray Two for the other pages, making sure you've got apply to Whole Document seleceted - if you then print the document, both pages come from tray 1!!. If you look in File Page, Setup again it has first page from tray 1 and other pages from tray 2 for This Section, but if you change it to Whole Document no trays are selected. If seems to print the first page of each section from tray 1 and the rest of the pages from each each section from tray 2. As each section only has 1 page they all print from tray 1. Is this true and how do I get around it?     - Help debugging code Using Word 2002 and 2003. Have a routine that loops through an array, builds up a string and then puts the string in the document. Occasionally this doesn't work properly and only part of the array appears in the document. The problem is that I can't just see any reason why this would be happening. I have dumped the array to a textfile to have a look at it, but it all looks normal or in any case no different from other arrays that appear in the document fine. The array is an 0-based 2D array with 4 or 5 columns and up to about 100 rows. It contains dates, numbers and strings. Initially I thought of creating 4 documents, each with a name and job title bookmark, when i click button number 1 on my user form it would look in document1 read the bookmark values and pop them into the text boxes in the user form. I am attempting to find some text (which needs to be replaced). The macro
used Selection.Find.
Because the text is actually contained in a text box the macro does not find
it. Is there any way of forcing the find to look in the text boxes as well
(or select the text box before execution).

Hi Carl,
a textbox is a storyrange other than the main story of
the document. Still worse, if you got more then one textbox,
it comes to linked storyranges. See:
