 - Improving the AddRow function in a form I would like to know if the add row function could be improved a little more. I would like to add a control icon to a form that would allow the user to manipulate a table by growing it or shrinking it. I am currently using this code to add a row if the answer is yes. This code duplicate the row and fills in the fields to match the existing row. Because this is a locked form, they couldn?t delete the added row and ended up sending a quote to a customer with a dead line? I would like to see if the functions in InfoPath can be recreated in VBA. For licensing reasons, InfoPath isn?t available to me in this usage. Here is what I would like to try; When a user is working in any cell on the row of a table. A control icon appears next to the beginning of that row. If the cursor is clicked on the icon, a pull-down menu with a few options appears just below the icon. These options would be to insert a new row above the current row, insert a new row below the current row, remove the current row and perhaps clear the current row.  - Helmut Weber -- Info please I have inherited a number of document template with embedded macro's. The WITH.SELECTION.FIND code that you posted on 2005/07/21 repeats throughout these macro's. We are taking a report that is in multiple paragraph form and converting it to tabbed columns, with BOLD, CENTERED headings; some paragraph text; certain words BOLD. Anyway, lots of manipulation of the text. I've done various types of programming fo over 35 years -- VBA and I have a severe adversarial relationship. To the point: You use the .EXECUTE within the WITH LOOP. The code I have uses either a SELECTION.FIND.EXECUTE or SELECTION.FIND.EXECUTE . . .REPLACE ALL immediately AFTER the END WITH What's the difference? Also, can I use IF-THEN-ELSE constructs within the WITH statement depending on certain conditions. I'm trying to transform this WITH LOOP into a SUB FINDREPLACE(Param1, Param2. . .) construct.  - Range.MoveUntil is not doing what I need...Any suggestions? Hi All, I have a document that contains multiple instances of the following tag: [Test ID=xxxx] (where xxxx is a numeric variable). Each "Test" tag signals the beginning of a section that I need to perform some procedures in. In some instances, I need to remove a Test if that ID has already been worked. What I am trying to do for those cases is locate the [Test ID=xxxx] tag and set the "[" as my Range.Start. I then need to find the next instance of "[Test ID=" and set the "[" as the Range.End. Once I have that Range selected, I can delete it and move on. I was hoping MoveUntil("[Test ID=") would do the trick, but it does not work like that. As you know, it just stops at the next instance of "[". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find one item, set that as the start and then find the next item and set that as the end? Thanks!  - Word File Format Hi, I am trying to build a document indexing tool for a .NET application. I am fine with the indexing bit and but I cannot find any real information on Converting word documents into Text. I do not want to use the word object and application as I will be indexing around about 40,000 word documents. So I want to be able to read the file directly and extract the text and index. Does anyone know where I can find out about the word file format or can point me in a direction were I can find out more information on this.  - ADOBE DEFAULT DOCUMENT VIEW FROM WORD Hi, I am opening various Arobat docs from within Word 2003 VBA. All the documents open at 50% view by default. I can open all the docs in Acrobat, change the doc properties to 100% default view, save them and then they open at 100%. We have approx. 100 docs - don't want to do this 4 every 1. Is there any way I can let the docs open by default at 100%.  - Document_New differences I have a normal.dot template with some code in it to display a form. Private Sub Document_New() frmClassification.Show End Sub If I open the template directly it displays the form. If I open Word from the Start Menu, it doesn't. If I use File New once Word is open, it does work. Seems to be a slight difference in how Word opens the first time. I recall this from years past. Can anyone fill me in on what it is and how to work around it. Just for background I need to call a form to get user input. The input is about the type of document and is used to insert text in the headers and footers. I need this to apply to every document created or opened in any way. I need to apply it so when the document is printed the header and footer text is inserted. I don't need to leave the headers and footers in the document It is so when printed and left lying on the printer, we can seee the rating of the document and the username who printed it.  - Prevent pages from displaying/printing I'm not very VBA or SQL literate so I'm trying to figure a way to make this form work. I created a form out of a word document. It populates bookmarks and references with data from a SQL database. The form is static. It allows up to 9 employees names, addresses, etc to display. For example: Laura Smith 15 Street Princeton, NY 08696 US citizen Larry Kole 58 Rd New York, NY 90012 UK citizen Jen Reilly 40 Avenue Miami, FL 10012 FR citizen So there are 3 employees that print per page. So I end up having 3 pages each everytime. My problem is that I don't always have 9 employees everytime. Sometimes I may just have one which would only need to print on page 1 or four employees which would print on 2 pages. Is there any way to write a macro that will prevent pages from displaying and printing depending the the number of employees. So if there are 3 employees then page 1 will print. If there are 4 to 6 employees then page 2 will print. If there are more than 6 employees pages 1 thru 3 will display and print. Any suggestions?  - VBA to search in comments attached to an xl cell Is it possible to write VBA code that will search inside the comments attached to a cell in excel for each sheet in the workbook. The number and names of the sheets will constantly be changing. Ideally what I'd like to do is something like: 1. Go to first sheet in workbook 2. for each sheet in workbook search the comments for desired info 3. On finding result return message stating the sheet name and cell that the comment is attached to and the choice to end searching here and go to that cell or continue searching 4.  - Reassigning custom toolbar button functionality In the interest of organization, I moved some subs to another module. Trouble is, they were linked to some custom toolbar buttons. When I clicked one those buttons, I got the "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings" warning box. In Excel, it's easy to reassign a toolbar button. But I don't see the same "Assign Macro" menu item in the Word customization pop-up menu that is in Excel. Is there a way to reassign custom toolbar buttons?  - Previously working replace macro gave error today A macro which has operated properly many times in the past halted with an error this morning. The debugger indicated line 10 below as the error. After trying to determine why, I did a manual find/replace and the replace window came up with use wildcards checked. I guess that the last replace I did yesterday (different document) used wildcards and Word remembered this setting. How do I unset this in the macro?  - Coding To Open/Format/Save/Close All Files In Single Directory Hi, My problem surounds the fact that I have 100 + files in the following directory C:\My Documents|Import The first few filenames for example are ABEG, ABMN, ABXX The files all have the extension .rpt as they have been imported via ftp routine. What I'm aiming to do is open each file in the directory in turn, perform identical formatting and editing in each file (for which I have code that works!), and save the file as a word document in the same directory as above (or preferably one called C:\My Documents|Reports). I have cobbled together some coding, but am basically stuck and any input provided would be incredibly welcome. The coding seems to open the first file "ABEG", but somewhere in the routine the filename is then lost and the routine ends up doing a loop, saving the file with name "False" and resulting in a forced quit to get out of word. I'm also not sure what the coding would be that ensures the macro ends normally once the routine has been performed on each file in the directory once only.  - About CustomDocumentProperties Hi everyone, Does anyone know if there is a command in VBA that removes a CustomDocumentProperty? I found a reference in MSDN library about adding a CustomDocumentProperty but not about removing it as well. I noticed also that if a property is added manually -that means I go file->properties->custom- then I can write in my macro ActiveDocument.CustomDocumentProperties(index).Delete and it is removed. But if the property is added by my code with a command like this: ActiveDocument.CustomDocumentProperties.Add xNode.ParentNode.nodeName, False, msoPropertyTypeString, xNode.NodeValue and then it gets a value with the command: ActiveDocument.CustomDocumentProperties.Item(xNode.ParentNode.nodeName).Value = xNode.NodeValue then I cannot remove this property. It was suggested that I need to use this routine. After looking at it, it appears that I can use it but I need some assistance. What I am doing is updating many contracts with the same data ( name, address, company number, store numbers etc.). I want to automate the process. I understand correctly, I see that BatchReplaceAll is a subroutine. Where can I learn about it functionality. I don't need to have the person enter any information.  - Loop thru doc problem Hi, The following code is working perfectly for me except when it hits a table. I would like it to SKIP tables and not put the sequential number field there. I only want it if the paragraph style is Normal and not in a table. Right now it is placing sequential numbers in each cell of the first table. I'm getting the following error message when it gets to the end of the first row: Run-time error 5251. This is not a valid action for the end of a row. I've tried several different options to get this to work. I've been looking at it all day and am still not getting anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  - Run-Time Error 4608 I have been trying to finalize a document by running a macro to "cleanup" page setup values. I want to havea header setup in the end of InchesToPoints (.38). The document page setup is with A4 paper sizing.  - Highlighting mechanism like protected documents Hi, I want to highlight text in a Word document, that has track changes enabled and the highlight operation should not appear as a tracked change. For example, when we protect a in Word 2003, Word automatically highlights the regions of the document that is editable by different users in different colors. This highlight does not cause any tracked change, moreover, when I look at the properties of the range object, I do not see anything different from a normal range without protection. And when I switch the option to view the bookmarks, I see that the highlighted regions are surrounded by bookmark symbols. But the range object does not contain any bookmarks.  - Create Error Message I am working in Word 2002. I have a form with many input fields. I have a tab order macro in the document to guide through the form. Because of the tab macro the user cannot tab to a previous field (shift + tab), doing so tabs them out of the current field and into the next field. I would like to have an error message come up when the user uses the shift + tab key combination, stating they can not tab backwards, so the user is left at the same field they were in when they pressed shift + tab.  - Run a macro in Word from command line to open envelope window I want to create a desktop icon that will open word and automatically open the the "Tools | Letters and Mailings", "Envelopes and Labels" window. I have recorded a macro that opens this window, but the window is modal so the macro cannot be terminated until the window is closed and the code behind the macro uses ActiveDocument.Envelope.Insert with the proper arguments to insert the envelope. I have also tried to use Sendkeys in the macro to send the [Alt] + "T" (Tools), [Alt] + "e" (Letters and Mailings), [Alt] + "E" (Envelopes and Labels) {Sendkeys "%(TeE)"} but when I run it, the current time gets inserted into the document.  - Word2003 doesn't save normal.dot anymore Hi, In a 'normal' Word environment when I change something that affects normal.dot - adding a menubar, change a profile- I got the question "Do you want to save the changes in normal.dot". I do have ticked the option in Tools, Options, Save, "Ask the user if normal.dot has to be saved". In my situation Word doesn't ask me nothing. The changes aren't saved etc. I now have explecitly has to open normal.dot and make the changes literal in de normal.dot file. Normal.dot isn't read-only, I have all rights to access normal.dot. I have done the next thing to overcome this problem: De-install Office 2003 Re-install Office 2003 It didn't help. Does someone have idea what's wrong? form data entry and distributed. From #2 is an attachment to #1 and includes
some of the same information that is shown on form #1.

I would like to automate the replication of text so that it automatically
appears on form #2 after it is entered on form #1.

I tried a calculated field approach but that seems limited to numerical
calculations and doesn't seem to like text strings.

Any help will be appreciated.
