    - Search for specific words in a document using an external list? Hello, I have a word document (for example, Iâ??ll call it â??Article.docâ??) which is rather large, containing certain news articles. I wish to do a search/find and identify specific key words in â??Article.docâ??. However, the list of possible words in â??Article.docâ?? that I wish to find (if they are there), number about 500. I have this list of words that I want to be found stored in a separate document that is always being updated/changed. (For example, Iâ??ll call this document â??List.docâ??) I do not want to have to go and use the Find Feature built-in to MS Word and copy/paste all 500 words individually and search â??Article.docâ?? to see if they are present. So I was curious, is there a way I can get MS Word to take/store the list of words in â??List.docâ?? and then go through â??Article.docâ?? and find any instances of any of the words from the â??List.docâ??. If possible I would like to also go one step further, and not only find instances of any of the 500 words in the â??Article.docâ??, but to also highlight them in yellow.     - Table Creation I'm in the process of creating a word document/form with several fields. I have one area of the word document were I would like to have a checkbox or two, controlling what a person can see on the document. For example, in my document I would have an area called "How Many Options" and then 4 checkboxes following called 1, 2, 3, & 4. When 1 is selected only one table appears in the middle of the document with various drop down boxes. When 2 is selected two tables are created side by side with various drop down boxes, etc. etc. I have no idea where to start. I have very, very little VB knowledge and macro experience.     - Microsoft Word AutoText Entries Into A Recordset This is a cross post from microsoft.public.office.developer.vba in the hopes that different people will read it and propose a solution. I am trying to retrieve a series of Microsoft Word Autotext entries and save them into an ADODB.recordset that is connected to a SQL Server Database. The Reference field is VarChar and the DocValue field is an image. It is an image data type because some of the autotext entries have gifs, bolding, etc that must be maintained. I generate a table from a database, move off the table and create a "Heading 1" for my table of contents, then move back into the table, and format the first line, and desire to make the first row carry over into new pages.     - Avoid deletion of text based on colour? I'm currently working with a template that contains a lot of text in a which should not be deleteted by the user. This text is inside protected sections and has a different colour thant the user-text. Due to numerous problems with these protected sections (e.g. spellchecking, macro's manipulating the document leaving it unprotected sometimes, ...) Is there a VBA method, that I can use in batch, to check these properties without actually opening the file itself?     - FILL IN FIELDS I have a macro which creates a document based on a template. It prompts at all the fill in fields. Can I de-activate the fill in fields until later as I have written a counter macro which searches for each fill in field in the document, prompts you for an answer (I do this so that you can see exactly where you are in the document), adds the answer to the fill in field, clears that specific field and moves onto the next one.     - WORD VARIABLES NOT CLEARING I have a huge vba project in word. I previously had a variable called "ELet_Heading" in my .dot document. I renamed this to "ELet_RE" and added a few more variables. When I run the macro its seems to remember what the previous variables were called and do not count through all variables although I use the following in VBA: For Each avar In ActiveDocument.Variables If avar.Name = "ELet_RE" Then num = avar.Index Next avar If num = 0 Then ActiveDocument.Variables.Add Name:="ELet_RE", Value:=TextBox2.value Else ActiveDocument.Variables(num).Value = Textbox2.value End If I do this for each and every variable but when I do the test counting the variables it only has 10 variables instead of for instance 15 variables and looking at the avar.Name I see that it doesn't run through all the variable names.     - Importing Excel data into Word i'd like some suggestions on how to proceed. i have an automation task i'd like to accomplish. instead of cutting and pasting data from excel to word, Iid like to dynamically generate a set of report paragraphs from each row in an excel spreadsheet. i have a report format in a word table. the excel spreadsheet has the report data and each column heading corresponds to a data field type within the word table. each row in the spreadsheet would be a different set of data and would need to be on a separate page. so, i'd like to programmatically ... fill in the word table with the first row of data, then insert a page break and generate a similarly formatted table with row 2 data, and so on until all of the rows with information have been imported into the word tables. some of the key things to consider are that I will not have a static set of excel rows for each report, so the code has to figure out how much data i have and make the appropriate number of pages in word. what is the best approach here? is it to use fields? thanks for any feedback, suggestions, or pointers to examples.     - Add Blank Lines Prior to Table - Word2002 Hello, I have a two-column Word table which is triggered in MS Access. It properly opens Word, sets the Access data into the respective columns, obediently autoformats the Word table, saves the formatted document into a folder as .doc file on the server and opens the "Envelope Visible" feature for emailing. However, not being yet savvy in the Word-side of the programming spectrum, I have one final need and am asking if someone could please help me out with the proper method of inserting a couple of vbCrLf's prior to the insertion of the table? I've searched many sites as well as the Word vb help files and have probably seen the answer many times over but am not properly assimilating into the block of ice between my shoulder blades, sometimes known as my head.     - Hyperlinks Collection Incomplete Hi, My cover page is an ordinary Word 2000 doc which has many hyperlinks (often 50 or more). Then, there is a Word macro which is coded to follow all hyperlinks and print each document. I have noticed two problems: Problem #1: The Hyperlinks collection will sometimes return the hyperlinks in the wrong sequence (not in the order they appear on the page). Problem #2: The Hyperlinks collection will miss many hyperlinks in the current document. Both problems happen more often when the hyperlinks "wrap" from one line to the next. (Yes, that's a long link, but they are indented too by several levels). In that case, the second line of the hyperlink is blue and underlined, but the first line is not. Tried these fixes: 1) Install SR-1, SR-2, and SR-3. These work for a while (about a week), then problem #1 comes back 2) Put a sequence number into the text of the hyperlink, then wrote code to print based on the value of the sequence number. Unfortunately, I discovered Problem #2. My macro prints a few documents, then it stops. All it does in my loop is to put the Address into an array. (It doesn't delete any hyperlinks ever). Sometimes, in Problem #2, the Hyperlinks collection is totally empty. Then, the macro obviously prints nothing. Yet, the hyperlinks are clearly visible on the cover page. What can I do?     - Setting the value for CustomDocumentProperties I am trying to create a version feature in Word VBA. I've got most of it to work properly, but for some reason, I am unable to set this value. I have created both a bookmark and a Word.Variable named "Version" to handle this processing. I have correctly linked the source of the bookmark, Version, to the variable. The bookmark source correctly updates, but the bookmark value does not update correctly, and shows a broken link when I view it in the File-->Properties window. So everything is working properly, except for the updating of the Value of the Version property. Below is the code that is crashing, specifically, the line that reads, CustomDocumentProperties("Version").Value = lnkSrc. This keeps saying that the Value method of DocumentProperty has failed. Value is not a method, but a property in this instance, how can I fix this?     - Opening File Dialog throws odd memory error Hi all, I have a line of VBA code that displays a file open dialog using the Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen) object. However, sometimes when I execute the .Show method I get a message box saying "There is not enough memory or disk spec to complete the operation". I don't believe it really a hardware related issue as I'm not shot of either RAM or HD space, but more curiously if I change the object to be of type msoFileDialogPicker then it will display the dialog. In fact the problem seems to be interchangeable between the two file dialog types, i.e. they will both cause the problem at some point. So does anyone know either a) what might cause the problem in the first place? b) something I could do in my code prior to calling Show to sort out the memory?     - This one's tough: Finding Character Styles from VBA I need to determine whether character styles are in use for any sub-portion of a Range. If you've worked with Range properties, you know that MOST properties (e.g. .Bold) return a special undefined value (such as 9999999) when the property value is not uniform over the range. However, Word uses the Range.Style property for BOTH Paragraph Styles and Character Styles. If you query the .Style property for a Range which is ENTIRELY in one Character Style, the value will be the name of the Character Style. The moment that the Range overlaps by a single character, into a run with either another Character Style or no Character Style, then the return value will be the name of the Paragraph Style for the Range. (If the Range overlaps two paragraphs with different Styles, then Range.Style will be Nothing) One solution is to check every single character in the range. That's effective, but extremely slow. Word-by-word checks would be faster, but not 100% reliable. A second solution is to examine all of the character styles in defined for the document (I'm really only interested in the ones which Word has created on its own from Paragraph styles, such as "Heading 1 Char"), map out everywhere they are in use in the document (including Footnotes, etc.), and then see whether any of those ranges overlap the areas of the document that are of interest to me. That is faster than solution 1, but requires 1-200 lines of VBA code, and is still a kludge. Does anyone have a direct and elegant way of accomplishing this? on Save As I would like word to pick out a certain Title and have this as the
documents name. Any ideas?
