    - VB Error when I open word doc's Hi On opening some word document's I get the following error. Microsoft Visual Basic (Box Title) An error occurred while opening "Thisdocument'.     - Changing highlight color - macro? Hello All In Word 2000, I routinely need to use different highlighter colors within the same document and thought I would create a macro to be able to change the highlighter color quickly without having to use the color pull-down menu. I have been successful except for one thing: When I click on the macro button I created on the toolbar, the highlighter color changes as I want BUT the highlighter then turns off for some reason. That means I then have to move the cursor over to the highlighter button and click it to turn the highlighter back on - an annoying second step. If I try to incorporate this step into the macro, it does not accept it. In fact, recording a macro that ONLY turns the highlighter on appears not to work. Is there a shortcut key combination or some other bit of code I can add to my color-change macros to ensure that the highlighter either does not turn off or is turned back on after the color is changed?     - AttachedTemplate shows normal.dot Hi all, Here is the problem. If you have a document that was created from a template the attachedtemplate property shows the name of the template. If that template is missing then the attachedtemplate property shows normal.dot as its value. If you open templates and addins the default template is shown with the full file path to the template whether it exists or not. Is there any way in vba to access that full path for the template without using the attachedtemplate property since if the template is missing then so is the path. Arrrrgh hope this all makes sense.     - saving I have a application written in vb 6, the app saves the current document every 2 minutes. This works fine, but when the user has the properties window open in word I get the nasty window "Component Request Pending" error box. We want user can unzip the comprised file with Click on the Zip icon on the Word file. However we always get Word's warning sign: "You are about to activate an OLE that may contain viruses or be otherwise harmful to your computer. It also wokrs with tables and reccuring records.     - Template Names availble to VBA I'm writing some VBA code in MS Access that integrates an application with MS Word. I would like to create a form in Access that asks the user to identify the template that they have created in Word for specific purposes. In this Access form, I would like to have a combo or list box that lists the available Word templates on the user's machine so that the user can select a template name from the list. The contents from the combo or list box should be generated dynamically from the templates found on the user's machine. Is there an object in Word that will enumerate the templates that have been stored on the user's machine? Or am I going to have to get that from Windows somehow?     - Calling Integer Value from Excel spreadsheet I have a word template that upon opening initailizes a form (frmTest) for finding and replacing all instances of specified string. It also opens a text file in the same directory "C:\Text\Text.txt", for performing the find & replace functionality. I am trying to populate a text box on the frmTest with a numberic value from an excel spreadsheet (Counter.xls) in the same directory. This is the replacing value.     - How to disable Virus scanning on word startup? Hello everybody. I am running the academic version of Office 2003 on my Windows XP notebook. McAfee VirusScan 7 is enabled to scan files with "standard and additional" extensions. Ever since I installed MathType 5.2 and EndNote 7, Word locks up at startup for about 20 seconds and displays the message "Scanning for viruses" (my own humble translation of the original german message "Virenueberpruefung") in the status bar. Within these 20 seconds even the screen update of the Word window does not take place any more. Now I am wondering whether this is a built-in feature of Word 2003 or something McAfee does.     - Open File Error I have a DLL that opens a template document, creates a data document and then does a mail merge with output going to a new document. In the code below, when it tries to open the file with the merge fields and another user has it open, the user gets a "File In Use" dialog with the buttons Read Only (to open the file in read-only mode), Notify and Cancel. If the user clicks the Read Only button, it opens the file and everything works fine. If the user clicks the Cancel button it goes back to the code and returns error number 4198 "Command Failed." I have tried using different flags on the Open (ReadOnly:=True) but it always displays the File In Use dialog. Is there a way I can tell if another user has the file open before I open it? I've looked on MSDN but I've only found how to tell if the file is open on the current machine. Thanks for any assistance.     - How do I set the default name (ie. to something other than DocumentX) I am using Word to create reports/letters/etc that I need to save as PDF files. I do not want to save the DOC files at all. My basic methodology now is to do this: -Open existing doc -update fields -print to Adobe PDF file -close document The problem is that Adobe PDF always assumes the document's filename as it's naming convention - in Word's case it defaults to "DocumentX' (where X is a number) as the filename and consequently the output file is named DocumentX.PDF. I have tried changing the title of the document as well as the caption but nothing works. When I'm using wdRefTypeHeading in the following code, it only stores the first 10 of the top level headings. All the headings after that aren't stored in myHeadings, i.e. 11, 11.1..     - Mailmerge error I have a dll which does some mailmerge for me, the dll is called from VB6. It work fine with word 2002 but it fails in this routine I have here below.     - Want user to add command button to menu bar I have created templates of all the forms our company uses. To access these templates, I have created another template (probably a document would have done as well) named Sensient Template that has macros with associated buttons on the menu bar that opens a document based on the desired template. From a CD I supply, the user copies the Sensient Template along with all the other templates into his/her templates folder. Here's the question. Variable data is held in about 7 different related tables; I looked at Mailmerge, but it looks to me like it only accepts a single table or query, which seems to rule this out... The calculation works fine but it is somewhat slow and it causes the monitor to blink for about a minute as it loops through all the cells. This process involves a user inputing data into the application which then performs a merge from a template provided by us to produce the document. No, you can't put a page break inside a text box. In Word, a text box
is actually a type of graphic, and like all graphics it must be on a
single page.

I don't understand your reference to a label. Word makes labels by
placing text into a table, which is formatted so each cell is the size
of one label.
