    - InlineShape marco problam I've almost got this one working ( even if its not neat ) but I can't seem to work out one small problam . The aim is to locate all InlineShapes, split the table cell they are in and move them to the new cell . I've got it working but it seems to act on the forst image twice ! , if I select anything after the first image then run the macro everything is ok ! I can't seem to work out why ? maybe there is a better way to do the same action.     - Table of Contents created by RD are not hyperlinked. Macro? Hi, our chapters are all splitted into several single documents (one for a section). Additional we have a table of contents document, created with the RD function. It works fine - but the table of contents entries are no hyperlinks (as it would be when you use the toc function within ONE document).     - Calculator tape debug window I would like to set up some kind of an "output window" for debugging purposes that would behave like a calculator tape. I could write a little subroutine that would cause a text string to be displayed on the next line in that window so I could follow what's happening in the program. I would then insert calls to the subroutine at various places in the code like this: ... Call DebugWindow("XYZ routine..." ... Call DebugWindow("i=" & i) ...     - Use of connectors in Word 2000 Howdy All, I'm putting together some simple graphics, in which names (provided in textboxes) will be associated with certain shapes (rectangles, chiefly). To make the association obvious, I'd like to be able to draw a connector between the textbox and the rectangle. In the drawing toolbar of Word 2000, however, I can't find a connector graphic. In contrast, that graphic is available in PowerPoint 2000 and in Excel 2000. The help files of the latter two packages also document a ConnectionFormat object. However, the help file I have for Word does not reveal any corresponding object. Have I missed something, or is the Connector feature in Office 2000 not supported in Word?     - Running Macros in Word I have many 1000s of documents which I want to open, find and delete pictures, save, close and move on to the next. The documents are stored in History files organised into folders so the macro needs to locate all files within these subfolders. This is all fine in principle. Via various sources etc. I have created a macro which checks for Shapes (including first converting any which are InlineShapes), selects and then deletes these. I have then inserted this into the publicly available code for finding all files within a folder (including subfolders) [special thanks to the MS folks for that!]. Problem is that the Shapes macro works fine on single documents but, for some reason, when it is operating within the file find loop, it crashes at the Convert from Inline stage and closes Word altogether. I assumed maybe it was a resources type issue so have tried limiting the scope of the search by running on only a few folders at a time (there are actually 2 main folders each of which has 1000 subfolders) and then to running on 1 folder at a time (each folder has up to 1000 documents). None of this seems to work. If the document is open and I run the Shapes bit on its own, it works fine. If I run the file search and open macro, then the same command causes the system to fall over. Does anyone have any bright ideas at all?     - Using Word Fields Hey everyone, I have a VBA form where the user will enter all sort of data. Based on that data, I replace certain words in pre- defined Word document. I have no problem with. I do a simple find and replace in my VBA code. However, in certain sitation, i may need to delete an entire sentence or paragraph. What I do now is search for a unique set of words, and do the appropraite deletion. This method works fine. But I was wondering if there might be a better way of doing this.     - Help: Wrapping quotes around selected text Dudes, I would like to have a Word macro that can wrap quotes around each line of selected text, followed by a comma at the end of each line. Preferably it won't append a comma to the last line, but I'll settle for a solution without this extra feature. eg.     - Install works on 2 machines, but Word ignores it on 1 Hi; I created a .msi setup program using Visual Studio. It works fine on two machines. On the third the setup runs. The registry has the right settings. The files are on the disk. But... When Word starts it doesn't call the add-in.     - AutoCorrect entries containing punctuation I've discovered that punctuation characters trigger autocorrect expansions even if you've got an autocorrect entry which contains that punctuation character. For example, if you've got entries as follows: Entry Expansion f fyodor f&d fyodor dostoyevsky If you then type: "f&", autocorrect will expand to "fyodor" without checking for the "f&d" entry. Is there a way around this problem? Obviously, you can change "f&d" to "fd", but I'm converting expansions from a third party expander, and can't control entries like that. Thanks...     - Inserting Tables of Contents, Tables and Figures I have Document Template that contains a Table of Contents. I have a couple of Macros that insert Tables of Tables and Tables of Figures. The Macros look for 2 bookmarks. One bookmark is stored at the end of the Table of Contents field, so that the Table of Tables always ends up in the right place and can't be deleted by mistake. The problem is the 2nd bookmark keeps getting deleted if I delete the Table of Figures and the Table of Tables. Also, if I were to delete the Table of Contents, then the Table of Table bookmark would disappear. What I need to do is be able to insert the Table of Contents in a certain place, if it gets deleted and then insert the other 2 tables after it. For example, if the Table of Tables is there, then the Table of Figures automatically is inserted below the TOT, however if there is no TOT, then the TOF goes under the TOC. At the moment everything works unless the bookmarks get deleted. The easy solution is don't delete the bookmarks, but life isn't easy Appreciate any suggestions Tag: Opening Word Tag: 52971

    - Create a Zip'ed Folder I'd like to be able to use Windows XP's built-in capability to create and manipulate zipped folders from within VBA. My VBA program creates a folder and places several files into this folder. Now I'd like to create a Compressed (zipped) Folder from this unzipped folder. I can do this within Windows Explorer by right-mouse-button clicking on the folder and selecting Send To Compressed (zipped) Folder from the Pop-up menu. But how does one do the equivalent under program control? I'd like to be able to create a Compressed (zipped) Folder from within my VBA program.     - Select x words on either side of Find Here's an interesting request. I'm just looking for the most efficient way to handle this. I have a need to do a find and replace on a text range. The replace is simply a formatting change. However, I need to change the formatting on a specified number of words on either side of the matched word as well. I am looking at the object model, but figured maybe someone who knows it a bit better could point me right where I needed to go. My anticipated approach is to match the word, step back x words, start selecting, step forward ((x*2)+1)) words, end selecting, then apply the formatting to the selection.     - Automating ms word tasks.. hello everybody i have a problem with a translation work i'm actually busy with, i'll try to explain it as claerly as possible, hopin' to find some good soul out there that could really help me out. THE FACTS: 1) I have a really long list of word documents classified in two folders, each folder containg the same documents, with different filenames, in two different languages (italian/french). Both respectives filenames contain at least a similar string as they are referred to the same product (ex. IT-catalog-bs342.doc - FR-catalog-bs342- NEW.doc) 2) As it was an old translation i made, i'm upgrading the old italian translation to the new french catalog. there are really small differences between the two versions of the respectives documents, such as a footer that has been added and some new items and fonctions in bullets listings. Some values have changed too. (ex. distance: 10m --> distance: 25m) My question is: Is anyway to do this loooong work faster by using scripts and macros to replace automatically what i want them to replace or simply add to the old files using new files as a source? If I were doing a normal mail merge this would not be a problem.     - HELP: can't debug Hello; All of a sudden when I go to debug my add-in (.net/C#/IDTExtensibility2) it launches Word - but won't start my add-in. I have a breakpoint in OnConnection and it never gets there. One thing I recently did - I changed the setup project to create a shim add-in. I can build, install, and run as an add-in.     - Saving Word Document without Attached macro Hi All, I have created a template with word and VBA that takes all the word docs in a specific folder and allows a user to open the selected document for edit, when the user goes to edit the document it opens the document into another template that i created which has a custom toolbar attached to it and various VBA commands to control the events on this toolbar. The problem i am having is when the user presses SAVE on my custom toolbar, the document saves fine however it also saves the toolbar and all i want is to save the text changes I DON'T want to save the attached toolbar.. how do i do this? this is the code i have for saving in my custom toolbar.     - Booklet, back to front, landscape 1/2 page Dear fellows, I hope someone can help me. I want to publish a club handbook that is printed on 8 1/2 X 11 folded in half. This effectively would have the first page printed with the last on the same sheet. Just like a magazine is printed then stapled together. The problem is I don't know how many pages will be involved so I just can't start by typing the first page and the last page on the same page and printing. The number of pages will change several times a year. The question then becomes...is there a template or program that will do this for me? In other words, allow me to type the pages sequentially and when I'm finished rearrange the pages for proper printing regardless of how many pages are involved.     - double click to update Fill-in field Hello all, I am looking for a way to update Fill-in fields by doubleclicking on them instead of using the update field command by clicking the right mouse button. I have a document with some Fill-in fields. This document is about 10 pages long and every page contains one or more Fill-in fields. I know I can also use the function UpdateAllFields instead off the right mouse button. But then I have to go through all the Fill-in fields when I only want to change, for example, the 11th Fill-in field in the document. I am just a beginner with VBA-coding so I don't know a lot about putting the above problem in a code. I know it has something to do with the WindowBeforeDoubleClick, but the VBA-help doesn't help me out that much.     - Listing Bookmark By Location in Document Word 2000 I have a simple macro that populates an array with bookmark names by reading the contents of the Bookmarks collection. The only problem is that it fills the array with the bookmark names in alphabetical order, and I need them listed in the order in which they appear in the document from top to bottom.     - Status Bar Appears Mid-Screen Of2k/w2kPro & Of97/nt4 Macro calls for the TOC to be generated. The "re-paginating" message flashes mid-screen rather than staying put on the bottom of the display.     - Build Table with Macro I have used a macro to update an existing table by deleting all the rows after the first, and the reading data from a file and adding new rows. I would now like to create the first row of a table with a macro ( that would allow me to set the number of columns). I recorded a macro when I used the tool bar to create a table, but that only showded the number of row and columns. It didn't show me how to set the width of each column.     - Missing FilePicker Dialog I had been using the FileDialog object in a Word (2002) add-in until a colleague running Word 2000 tried to use it and got an error. I discovered that the FileDialog object is available only in the Office 10.0 library. Since I need to distribute this add-in to people whose version of Office I won't be able to update, I want to do without using the FileDialog object. But I can't seem to find a filepicker type dialog otherwise. Does one exist? Or will I need to create my own filepicker using a userform? I should note that I considered using Word's built-in fileopen dialog as a workaround. But I don't need to open the file that is picked. (The program simply needs to take the fullname of the document that is picked and assign that value to one of the activedocument's variables.) I'd prefer to avoid that workaround if possible. won't open. When I click on it the small "word screen"
comes up & then freezes. Then I can't close it down. & I
have to manually shut the computer down. I've deleted
word & re=installed it, still won't open. Does anyone have
any suggestions.

What syntax are you using to instantiate Word? Are you
opening a document, or just the shell?
