    - Find text with different font. Hi, I have a word document containg text with diffrent font. I need divide that document into blocks, where each block will have the same font. In other words, when the font is changed then new block should begin. I can do that by getting font of each character, and when font is diffreent, then just make a new block. But this is extremely slow. I takes 30 seconds on document with 2 pages. Do you think there is some faster way of doing this? PS: I'm accessing Word using OLE objects.     - Extract data from word to access? Hello, I am going to recieve about 250 word docs for a land survey project that are all the same format. The document will have 4 main sections, and then inside those, there will be details which will need to be captured (or harvested) and then saved as delimited text (or whatever will work best) for insertion into an access database. The problem is that most (80%) of the word doc is not formatted into any kind of tabular structure, at least from what I can tell. (As a side note - is there a way to check using something like reveal codes, as was in WP)? The only thing in common that each doc file has is that each file has the same keywords preceding the desired data value. MY QUESTION: Is there a way to have a VBA routine go through, and identify (which would be embedded in the VBA routine) keywords, and then based on that keyword, trigger a "copy" to action? There is always a consistent keyword preceding the desired data value. For example, here is a typical sentance (with the desired data value in {}, and the keyword in caps: EXAMPLE 1) That certain tract of land CONTAINING {105.899}acres, more or less... EXAMPLE 2) or another example in tabular format, separated by tabs (but shown here with commas and no separation); 1st line: *Surface,Mineral,Net 2nd line: Owner,*Interest,Interest,Mineral Acres 3rd line: John H. Smith,100%,50%,52.9495 * TO CLARIFY: The words Surface and Interest go together (like Surface Interest), just one on top of each other. Same for the words Mineral and Interest, as well as Net and Mineral Acres. In sum, I just want to know what are the ways that you can go into an existing word doc and extract the data that you need, that's all. But I want to insert some other document in the middle of the document and preserve the shapes on both sides of this inserted document.     - Formula help? I want to have the document set up so that when I type a name or word in place in side the document/letter, that name will be instantaneously entered or equaled somewhere else in the document in place that I specify. Sort like in Excel, where I can have one cell equal another cell. Whatever I type in one cell, after I press the enter key or click outside the cell, the cell that is equal to it, automatically updates with the information.     - HELP - Connecting to ADODB Datasource for a MaiMerge Hello, I am trying to make a connection to a datasource that is an ADODB Recordset in VB 6. I have been trying with no success. I have found half answers on how to connect to .txt and .xls. datasources but nothing on a recordset. I have an ADODB Recordset that is created from a query executed from a user.     - mailmerge word 2003 I have an application (vfp) with a lot of letters being produced in Word using mail merge. The application works great for all versions of Word 97-2002 without Word being visible or any action by the user. Tried to run the same routine on Word 2003 and it brings up a prompt dialog wanting to know the name of the merged file. Once they name the file it runs fine.     - Can I make a template like this? We are using a very old DOS-based input program. The narrative portion of the input form is very user-unfriendly, so most operators create their narratives in Word, then paste into the input program. Unfortunately, most Normal templates default to either Arial or Times New Roman, which are proportional-spaced fonts, and the input program uses a mono-spaced font (similar to Courier). It also does not recognize tabs or tables. The operators create these nice-looking charts and tables in Word using spaces and tabs - and they get all screwed up when they're pasted in. The QA operators then have to spend much time reformatting everything. I was thinking of trying to create a Word template for the operators that would reject any font except Courier, and reject all tabs. Is this possible?     - compare and highlight differences Okay, I have two tables of contents in two separate files. A few of the entries in them may be repeats. I need to, from one of the files, run a macro that will look through every entry of that file's TOC, then compare each to the TOC of the other file (preference would be a dialogue way to point to the other file to use, but could also type into a dialogue, and worst case, can go into the macro and type in the path for each use...but would prefer to avoid having to go into macros, as others might be asked to use this who are less proficient), and finally highlight on the original file any that are found in the other file.     - Document_open won't run if opening from browser to application This is the only case that has produced me this very inconvenient feature. If word document opens inside browser as embedded. Automating works.     - problem with sink event in word hi, i have made a COM Add-in which overrides the default behaviour of some menu items like save, print etc in the main menu. i am able to sink event of these particular menu items and i am also able to run my code in place of the default methods. but the problem is that after executing my code, the default code is also being executed which is making my code useless. how can i get around this problem? is there any way for disabling the default handlers for the intended menu items.     - Word Input Dialogue boxes I am trying to create a word template where Dialogue boxes appear when a user opens the template that ask questions, e.g. Enter Name, Enter Address and so forth. Once the questions cycle through and the user reaches the end of them, the information is then presented at various points in the document.     - automating document management Brief (hopefully) question here. Thanks in advance. My goal is to write a macro that will, after having opened a series of documents within Word, allow me to do certain actions on them (proof-reading, printing, etc. - all to be done manually) and then, upon closing, automatically save them to a different folder (on the network) while deleting them from their original local folder. In effect, therefore, part of the process of closing the document will be to move it to a new location on a network server. I've worked out virtually all of this, but I cannot seem to delete the file from it's original location. I believe that this is because, even after saving it under a new name (actually, same name but different location), there is still a tilde-preceded reference to the file in the original folder, thus seemingly indicating that the original file is open. As such, I cannot delete it until I've closed it (but once it's closed the macro that I wish to delete it will no longer be running and thus the process won't be done seamlessly and automatically.     - adding a page number to a header I want to add a page number to the end of the first line of a header. When I do so manually using the normal Header and Footer dialog box in Word (2003), it works just fine. When I use VBA, it seems to insert the page number into a text box or some other similar shape, which throws of the appearance of the line.     - How to get progress percentage in quicksort? I would like to indicate the progress of my quicksort.     - Offline Folder Program Hello, I have a tool (Master Microsoft Word template) which has been written in VBA and contains a number of macros. The tool has a feature, which allows us to save the tool to our local Offline Folders e.g. switches on Offline folders and saves. In Windows 2000/Office 2000, this feature works perfectly - however in Windows XP/Word 2003, we receive no error messages - but it doesn't do anything. In the code we are using the command line feature 'Make A&vailable Offline'.     - Macro behaves different when application is visible and when it isn't Hi I have discovered that the behavior of macros is different when Application.Visible = True and it is False. I observed some problems when running the macro. I turned the Application.Visible = True, debugged the code, corrected the errors, ran some tests without debug, but still with Application.Visible = True. As soon I changed Application.Visible = False, the resulting document, the macro generated looked different. How can I see follow thr progress in the document, as I step through statements without having Application.Visible = True? Are there some spicific behavior, that is different when Application.Visible = True and Application.Visible = False (exept that the document is/is not visible)? It looks like there is a difference in what header/footer I am standing in after inserting a SectionBreakNextPage and then doing a ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.SeekView = wdSeekCurrentPageHeader.     - Combo box list appears cut off from form I have a form that has 3 combo boxes. the combo box lists are filled from an access database. I am using dual screens giving one large desktop. ie a primary monitor and seconary monitor. When the macro opens the form it appears on one screen but when you click on the combo box the list appears on the other screen - totally seperated from the form. But.. if you drag the form onto the other screen, the lists fall down directly from the combobox as I would have originally expected.     - Merge text files to word doc We have a dos program that generates letters in a text file format. There may be 50 letters generated in a given day so there will be 50 text files. We wold like to automate the process of putting each letter into a word doc and then being able to print them off.     - Linking Excel - Dynamic FileName My client would like to create a Word and Excel template that are linked. The Word doc will get a few calculations from Excel. The big challenge is they want to be able to save versions of each Word/Excel combo that are dynamically linked. For example, assume you start off with Temp1.doc & Temp1.xls. The first thing you would do is copy each file to a new subdirectory and rename to something like: CusPro1.doc & CusPro1.xls.     - Resizing Inline Shapes I've searched for help on this, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm pasting images as inline shapes in a Table. I want to resize all of them to the same width, say 1 inch (or the equivalent in pixels). I've tried recording a macro that does this, but am having trouble. The pasted images may vary a little in proportions, so I want to lock proportions when I do the resize. This is very easy within Word, but I'm having trouble doing it in VBA. What I'd really like is to take action on the select shape, so as soon as I paste it, I can resize it. You don't really supply enough information. To start with, the version of Word
involved?

You say the headers/footers are locked. Does this mean some kind of document
protection has been applied? Which kind? Take a look at the MacroButton field
in Word's Help files, as well as the short article on creating a hyperlink in
a protected form in the Forms section of my website.
