    - Dutch Math I need to write program code for 'international' applications. I have set my Region settings to Dutch(Netherlands). In Dutch (and other major languages), commas represent the decimal point and periods represent the thousands separators. I wrote this simple formula: Dim mynumber As Single Dim mynumber2 As Single Dim mynumber3 As Single Dim mynumber4 As Single mynumber = 1,50 mynumber2= 5 mynumber3=mynumber + mynumber2 mynumber4=mynumber3 + 1.5 I get a 'Compile Error, Expected End of Statment' message with the row "mynumber = 1,5" highlighted. What am I doing wrong? How can I overcome this? Unfortunately, it seems not to be simple matter of putting a period in place of the comma, for when I actually try to run a calculation using decimals as, the results come out in commas. Chaining calculations becomes more than very confusing (at least to me), because of the fact that the answer returned after the first calculation is expressed in Dutch (e.g., 1,5), but the next entry must be entered in 'American'. And if the initial values are picked up as string variables from an input box, it becomes even more confusing. Are there resources to help explain this?     - Userforms - working with decimal places I would like to be able to enter an amount into a textbox within a userform and have the amount fill from the right hand side. (This much I can do using the Align Property). However, as the numbers are typed I would like to see the decimal point to be placed 2 decimal places within the number, ie if I enter 123456 I would like to see: As soon as the 12 is typed â?? see .12 As soon as the next digit is typed, the 3 â?? see 1.23 As soon as the next digit is typed, the 4 â?? see 12.34 If I then deletes the last number, the 4 â?? see 1.23 So if I type 123456 â?? see 1234.56 So a value of $2000.00 would be typed as 200000 and the decimal point is not typed but appears correctly. Based on some good advice in a different thread, I saved a Word document as .RTF in order to remove unwanted macro code. While this worked, when the document was opened, it had a different set of styles defined for it than the original document. I am quite keen to stick with the original set of styles as I use them heavily, but my current customers are disconcerted by the Macro security message that is being activated due to the presence of the macro code. I should add that the document is based on a template where all the styles are defined and uses a macro in the creation stages to display a form for the user to set some document properties.     - Hyperlinks on userforms??? Hello, I want to add an internet address to a userform that the user can simply click on and it will launch the site. Therefore I need a method to calculate the exact height, in millimeters, of a text line written with a certain font, at a certain size. There seems to be a discrepancy between the height of a line in the Graphics object, and the height of that same line in Microsoft Word. That discrepancy is about 10%. Strange, isn't it? Due to limited stack space I've had to copy my charts in Excel as pictures. When I then try to copy and paste these pictures into a Word document as part of the automation, the picture doesn't stay where I pasted it in the report. Does anyone have the code that can be used in Excel to paste a picture in Word and have it stay in the same place? The other picture formatting (ex. wordwrap) specifications seem to work properly.     - Preventing mailmerge "select data source" dialog Hello. I need to prevent the "select data source" dialog from displaying when I open a mailmerge document from my code. It doesn't matter if it's VB, VCS or VC++. For example, I have a word document that is connected to an Excel data source. When I open the file with something like "wrdApp.Documents.Open" it shows the dialog, while I need it to be fully automated. At the moment I noticed that I can make it work by "simulating" escape key by trapping the dialog window and sending a WM_KEY message. But I think this is a bad approach (I have to check the window caption and obviously it doesn't work if I check for the caption in a language different from that in which Office is installed). I tried to record a macro when opening a mailmerge file but it shows nothing useful (only "ChangFileDirectory" actually). Anyone who can help me? Thanks a lot and sorry if I wrote too much. Gabriele.     - Variable to declare function lib location? I call several functions in an external dll file. I would like to avoid placing the dll in the system32 folder. I tried regsvr32 but the dll has no entry point define for this. To begin with, I have tested this with - Windows 2000 Professional (No service packs and SP-4) - Word 2000 (No service packs and SP-3) - Screen resolutions of (1024x768) and (1280x1024) Under particular circumstances, the MoveDown/MoveUp method will not work at all, and no error is produced (unlike the known bug 235876) To make this happen you first need to start Word, and exit it with the word window in the following state: - The Word window height less than 1/2 the height of the vertical screen resolution - The bottom of the Word window must be in the lower 1/2 of the screen Next, start word and close all open documents. Then run a macro which does the following - Minimizes word & - Then utilizes MoveUp/MoveDown NOTE: The bug will not manifest itself if - There is already a document open - Or the application window is visible on the screen. After completing the information I save the .doc file, and do a Send To, which looks beautiful in Outlook, except that ALL drop-down selections are missing. The saved .doc file looks perfect. The program I'm working on saves the current Word document in WordML format, modifies the saved data (as an XML document), saves the modified data in temp XML file, opens that file in Word and copies the contents form the temp document over the original one: (Original Doc) -> (SaveAs WordML) -> (Modify WordML) -> (Save Temp WordML) -> (Open Temp WordML in Word) -> (Copy Temp contents over Original contents). I use this process to speed up otherwise slow operations in Word. The documents involved have custom Schema and XML markup themselves. The problem comes when I do this (C#): wdDocument.Content.FormattedText = tempWdDoc.Content.FormattedText; The line above throws an exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A17EA): This action is not valid outside of a block-level XML element. at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Range.set_FormattedText(Range prop) It seems only some machines have this problem.     - Range Madness and Other Frustrations This is a very long post. I have had fits today working with ranges and an on exit event. My challenge (perhaps your childs play) was to create a conditional additional question in a form. Example: Why did the chicken cross the road? "Dropdown field containing multiple choices" If the selection made above was "To get the other side" Then display a follow-up question: Did she say why she wanted to cross the road: "Dropdown field containing yes and no" I created the first question and dropdown field using "Question" as the bookmark name. >From the beginning, I figured that using a stored AutoText entry of the follow-up question and dropdown field would be the easiest approach. I created the follow-up question and dropdown field using "FUA" as the bookmark name. I then stored the follow-up question and formfield as AutoText "FUQ." I used a bookmark "FUQ" to designate the placement of the conditional question. Since the FUQ needed to be displayed or hidden depending on the condition, I realized that I would need to write either the AutoText FUQ or "" to the bookmark range and redefine the range with each change. "a fully functional dropdown"* Viewing this as a minor concession, I changed the flag to: oRng.Text = "*@ " 'note the trailing space and this left just a single extra space at the end of the bookmark range instead of "*." Question 2 - Can someone explain the behavior described above? Why when the found range includes the entire bookmark range does the replacement fail? Thinking that I had found a solution, I set my macro to run on exit from the "Question" formfield. My euphoria was quickly dashed. While the code worked perfectly when I a) stepped through it with the editor, and b) ran it directly from the editor, it failed when triggered by tabbing out of the formfield. It was generating a RTE 4198 "Command failed" while attempting to execute this line of code in the RWAT procedure: ActiveDocument.Close wdDoNotSaveChanges Since it ran normally from the editor, I suspected that this must have something to do with the field controlling the activedocument until the procedure is completed. I tried all I know to create a specific document object e.g., Dim oDoc as Word.Document Set oDOC = Documents.Add ..... oDoc.Close but I got the same error regardless of what I tried. Question 3 - Can anyone explain the behavior described above? Sticking with the find and replace autotext theme and convinced that attempting to close the scratch pad was the stumbling block, I elected to add a scratch pad at the end of the active document and then delete it.     - Convert drop down lists and fields to text I have created two templates for forms that folks on my worksite fill out on a daily basis. Both are protected so that the users only have the ability to fill in the fields on the forms. There are a couple of drop-down lists and the rest are standard fields for the user to fill in text. Is it possible to have a macro (or perhaps there is another method) run when the user exits the final field so that all of the fields are converted to regular text? As it is now, once they are finished, the drop-down fields remain and they can continue to tab through the fields and make changes. Although I don't need as much security as locking the entire form and preventing future editing, it would be nice to at least have the entire completed form like regular text, rather than them being able to still access the drop down list. or N.

What im looking to do is, when a user enters a Y, this automatically
opens an email from outlook.

Depending on how complicated it is to do, the email can either be blank, and
just be used as a prompt containing the title 'New CBP SITE ISSUE', or open
containing the email adresses of Project leads on the team and including the
title above.

I am currently working on MS Word 2000 9.0.3821 SR-1 and MS Outlook 2000
SR-1 9.0.03821

Is this something anybody can help me with.
