Go to File, Page Setup. Click the Layout tab and check the "Different odd
and even pages" box.
Now, you will see that alternate pages in the document have different
headers & footers. You can put the page number on the right in one and on
the left in the other

If at all possible, you don't. Acrobat PDF should be regarded as a
publication format. In other words, you go from Word to Acrobat, not the
other way round.
But if you have a PDF file and have lost the Word document from which it was
originally created, open the file in Acrobat (the commercial version, not
the free reader), go to Edit, Copy File to Clipboard, and then paste into
Word. The layout will be a bit horrible and you'll have to delete all the
headers & footers and re-apply all your styles in order to get your document
into some reasonable order.
You have created a template with styles of course? If not, you are making a
lot of extra work for yourself. Take a look at these articles to make your
